It was almost cartoonish how many people decided to antagonize the wizard with a literal demon army following him around.
Yeah, I actually see that as forced to a degree. I understand the goals of the authors there, but while the Captain's scene was philosophical and nuanced, this was as subtle as a sledgehammer.
That was my point. I'm starting to think that they were trying to use it as an example of Isaac's hatred for humanity as a self-fulfilling prophecy. He deliberately antagonizes people and treats their retaliation as some sort of monstrous behavior. I don't even think he's aware he's doing it.
well the soldiers are most likely christians. so they wouldn't put up with that stuff. or religious in general, and demons is a no no no mater what religion.
Also regardless of religion how many people would allow someone to walk through their town with a small army of horrific monsters without offering some sort of challenge. Even with as gun nutty as some parts of the US are if I rolled up to the outskirts of a town with an armed militia I'd expect the residents to not be too keen on the idea.

Isaac is one if my favs on the show. I could listen to him talk all day. He is really interesting and has a strong resolve, which I can appreciate. I am glad he is growing in his rage and practicing his discipline again.

Also that scene with the bug/insect guy completely explains the scene in season one where the blue fanged beast tells the priest who killed draculas wife that he/they “love him (the priest)” as they were spirits in hell before being brought back by a forgemaster

Whats not to love, and he has a valid point. Everyone in the series he holds in contempt all act like hot garbage most of the time. It's no small wonder why he's a misanthrope supreme.

I believe his issue is with himself. He is struggling to find a balance after Dracula's death. He has so much potential, but he is full of revenge and distrust.

Even though the show changed up Isaac's backstory from "Curse of Darkness" (by actually giving him one), I still hope to see Julia, his sister from the game. I doubt she'll be a roadblock in his journey from evildoer to a villain in his own right, but she has the potential to be as interesting a character as him.
I Think it would be pretty cool if they brought her in for him to teach him to ultimately accept humanity. Kind of like how Lisa did to Dracula, teach him how to be nice and love again...

The way I see it happening is, yes, Julia's goal is to save Isaac from himself, but she runs into Hector by accident and becomes a positive influence on him instead.
Still, the scenes with the guards is interesting in itself. While they certainly are acting harshly, there's the fact that there's a man with monsters walking around the town. And Isaac seems to me like the kind of man who SEES HIMSELF as reasonable, but in actuality jumps from a bare attempt at diplomacy to slaughtering people frighteningly quickly.

Quite frankly, just for me, I do feel for isaac because I see the nonsense which is thrusted upon him because of his appearance. Isaac is not a monster; however, seen as a threat because of his abilities and color. Isaac wants to be treated and valued as a equal human being and not have his humanity questioned nor challenged because of his appearance for which he has no control over, for it was already chosen for him. Plus Isaac is not causing chaos rather than chaos is just trying to disrupt him by annihilating his existence and he stops the evil by defeating it. I don’t blame Isaac, for I blame the conditioning and those who perpetuate the conditioning.
That same terror or conditioning is what's provided freedom for 🇺🇸, the things she does to feel comfortable is why people who look like Isaac have to find inner peace not outward.
Tell that to the indigenous whose ancestors were killed by Europeans, tell that to the African Americans who ancestors were enslaved, raped, beaten, sold away, and killed, and tell that to the Polynesians in Hawaii whose queen was forced into exile by the U.S. government. I take it that you don’t have more melanin in your skin, so therefore you truly have no idea. The conditioning has worked and it is still working. The United States is not free, freedom comes with a price which is the cost of human lives unfortunately so. Isaac does have inner peace, it’s the world around him which does not know peace nor stillness nor balance. P.S. do not respond dear!

I Hope Isaac Survives in Season 4 He's a Bad Ass
I love this so much, Isaac isn’t a Vampire but he has more than enough power to wreck your sh*t up if he wants to, but (discounting Carmilla) that’s never his intention when he meets someone new, he’s just going where he wants to go and wants to be left in peace.
At this point: “It because you’re all so f*cking rude!” is a perfectly legit reason for killing all the humans he meets 😏😏😏

@@barca8341 I know this is a late reply, but season 3 kinda supposed to setup Curse of Darkness, which is the game that chronologically came after Castlevania 3 (in which we have Trevor and the others beating Drac)
Without spoiling it, Isaac tries to ressurect Dracula, and Hector has to stop him.

But it seems that Season 4 would took a story on its own, rather than follow-up the story in Curse of Darkness. Considering that Hector is now in captive as a slave, he would have no reason to stop Isaac's goal of killing Carmilla and ressurecting Dracula.
Isaac is one of my favorite characters of all time.
I am betting Isaac is going to turn himself into a Lich I'm going off on the games Dracula's second in command is Death(yes grim reaper death) in the show he's absence but Isaac has several of Death's traits such as their shared devotion to Dracula so Isaac becoming Lich would further unite the two.
I absolutely see Isaac either turning himself into something no longer human, or getting turned by the new main villain, as the final battle draws closer. It would be cool if the new form is inspired by how he looks in Curse of Darkness.

Isaac is the most loyal and the best man, He is the meaning and if not the definition of best man, the one you know he will burn a entire world if someone hurt you. True loyalty.
Issac didn't realize the man about giving a forgemaster a gift, was joking or forgot he was joking until the captain asked was "he laughing" and Issac eyes widened and said "he was". If he didn't realize he was joking he thought it was less of a gift and more of a bribe, if he knew he was joking he forgot about it and only focused on the violent interaction. Issac is focused on the negative aspects never the positive. The show have him a contrast and it wasn't until the captain, the philosopher demon and the old woman that allowed him to understand the contrast.
you really described how i feel toward this series. i'm simply captured by every bit of it.
the voice acting is phenomenal.
sadly the lead writer leaving after the 4th season. but the show will continue hopefully.
Of the two characters trying to wipe out humanity, I always thought Isaac made more sense. Dracula supposedly loses faith in humanity after his wife's death; but the mere fact that he cares so much about her obviously means that on some level, he's capable of seeing the good in humanity. The minute he remembers this, by stumbling into his son's childhood room, his motivation completely falls apart. Isaac, on the other hand, experiences almost nothing but cruelty his entire life. It actually does make sense that he would view people as evil. I hope he hears a few more jokes next season.
Very nice analysis. I learned a few more things about Isaac from it. Unfortunately there are many people like Isaac in this world. If everyone they met growing up was evil and abusive to them they assume everyone they meet to be more of the same. Isaac is a sociopath and has a God complex. When he mentions God he is talking about himself. The character Proctor from Banshee was like this as well. Some of the ancient Sufis also did self deification but concealed it in a hypocritical way. The makers of this show understood this very well. The whole show is about the different types of evil personalities. Like the Judge in the village. And the vampire sisters who could have easily been psychopaths.

The one who surprised the most in the series I will admit was Isaac . The dude reminds me of Lex Luthor who evolved into something more than just a regular character. His outright hate for humanity was what defined early on but he moved past becoming something more. never thought he put Camilla out of her misery.....
Isaac is no monster. These are the fruits of betrayal and pain. Isaac isn't dealing with anybodys crap anymore and he took control of his path. He's a fantastic character and I'm pretty sure he is the one who will be battling Carmilla. Gives me chills

Well i doubt that practicing literal demon summoning and controling would be viewed positively... Now that i think about it, how can he still call himself a faithful of anything other than Dracula or Satan i have my doubts Alah or the prophet say it is okay to summon demons and use them to kill people or question the way that demon did. Unrelated to Issac but I just yesterday realized that Dracula is voiced by the same man who voiced Lazaravich from Uncharted 2
I always knew the second Dracula talked and yells. It reminded me of how Lazaravich yelled at Drake during the final battle of Among Thieves.

Edit: Even The Captain who is possibly not belong to any religion did the same, he talked a way out to prevent possible massacre to his crews. Just because a black man with demon army walking around in town doesn't mean that they would go on a rampage right away.

But Isaac just walk around and his demons obeyed his order to not kill anyone unless he was provoked, which showed that peace treaty with him is possible, or at least they could have just pretend to mind their own business and they could have survived.
Its like you playing games that have extremely powerful neutral mob passed by and won't harm you unless being provoked. Same could apply to real life such as when local street gang passed by you. You won't going to mess with them, right? At least you just mind your own business and you may get away unharmed.

I Think What's Going To happen to hector in season 4 is that he escapes gets a wife the wife gets burned in the stake by getting framed by isaac of being a witch and after that Hector seeks revenge
Funny thing is that even the weakest season of this show is still absurdly entertaining and interesting, it's so good that some thing seem lackluster in comparison when It would be sung as high praise in any other show
An interesting fact: Forgemasters are most likely based on the rituals of the great king Solomon, the tools they use are a direct connection to the king Solomon's ring that he used to summon and control demons (bind them to his will) and the part where Isaac builds a temple is a connection with the king Solomon building his own temple using said demons that he summoned. If this was the inspiration for these two characters (mostly Isaac) then the book used as a template is called the lesser keys of Solomon and the demons are similar to the descriptions of the ones in the book (mostly a combination of different animals or animal human hybrids). The origin of the book was in Egypt, it was translated to the language of Jews, then into Greek and Latin after that. It was finally translated to English, partially by Alister Crawly (the original translator died before he had a chance to finish the translations). Where things are different: The lesser keys have 72 spirits with their own will and characteristics and summoning them does not involve a corpse since they have their own bodies, mostly a combination of animals (most looking like a biblically accurate angels, especially since some of them are the fallen angels themselves) till the summoner requests them to turn to human form. Also, they are totally obedient to the summoner, speaking only the truth (two being the examples, for one the summoner needs to request of them to speak the truth and the other has to be compelled by a summoner using a special ritual in order to be bound in the first place). Outside of that, the symbols that the forge masters use are similar in design to the ones used in the show. Since the original games used to trash religion in general, it would not too hard to imagine that the characters and their magic were inspired by the said book...
Ok, i checked it out and was correct. From a game's wiki: The monsters in this category are all creatures that appear in the Castlevania games and are based off of the 72 demons that King Solomon summoned and contained within a bronze vessel, according to the first section of The Lesser Key of Solomon, otherwise known as the Ars Goetia.
Issac is one hell of a good character, one of my favorites of all anime.
Am I reading too much into things; or is the Captain's argument about teaching mankind to be better very similar to the one Lisa poses to Dracula to get him to take her on as a student? Both basically say; Yeah, the people out there are kind of messed up, because the world around them is messed up. If they (Lisa) had better science and medicine they would live long enough to change for the better and have less fear of the unknown and unexplained. Or if you take out mankind, you kill the corruption but you also kill the kindness inherent to man too. Teach them to be better so the kind outweigh the corrupt; otherwise you'll be left with an empty and boring world. They're saying different things, but it feels like they're arguing the same points.

Well he definitely didn't say it in the Bible, to be sure (Muhammad was born well after the life of Jesus and isn't mentioned in the Bible). But, yeah, its a belief among a portion of the Muslim faith that Hell is a place people only go to for a temporary period of time, and Muhammad is quoted in a Hadith as saying that Hell will eventually be empty as a result of that

I'm a Muslim myself, and I had heard a similar quote before watching the show, though I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if its an accurate quotation, or trustworthy. I can at least vouch for it not being offensive though

The idea behind why is that worshipping only the one god is extremely important in Islam, and heroic depictions of Mohammad and other prophets are seen as putting them up on a pedestal of sorts

Isaac isn’t a character that just happens to look different than how he’s depicted in games with him being black. He was intentionally made black. Designing him solely after his voice actor makes no sense because Isaac has some residual African accent. The voice actor had to be hired with someone who could use this accent in mind. Most likely Isaac being a former slave that aligns with his capturers and him being black are part of a sub narrative about the nature of identity for black people who choose to take the side of those in power. How he chooses to forsake humanity for vampires can be paralleled to a black slave who “sells out” to join with his owners because he has invested his whole identity in being their a servant. It’s also not a coincidence that one of the few other black characters, a pirate, is the one to offer insight that leads to a change in direction for him. I respect the writers for not shying away from a topic like this because there are some who could take offense to the only representation of a black person being a former slave and mistake this as a way to undermine the character.

The point of the story of the flood is not that humanity is evil, but that humanity can become evil. And at the end of flood, god give to humanity the arch of alliance, meaning it can be offered a chance of redemption (through god, obviously)

He is not designed after the game because his design in the game was pretty outlandish and didn't really fit with anything else they were going for in the anime. I would go as far as to say that the game design didn't fit with the game itself to be honest. One of their best decisions was to make Isaac into a proper character and flesh out his character as something different, outlandish according to common euro-centric views, but still very much real: a sufi.
There is a theory that isaac will become death. That he'll learn how to forge his own body and become death as we know him from the games
