The big issue is they can not guarantee to keeping privacy safe. Companies are loosing our data every day of the week due to breaches.

I wouldn't be concerned if I got my car for free but if I paid $90k for a car I'd be super annoyed!

One day, I expect some hackers will be able to conduct a data dump on all of us. All of our "dirty laundry" will be made public.
I wonder how many of us have such apathy and are comfortable with all of this data gathering and profit driven molestation of our supposed "privacy"? What can we do about it?
Without being completely "off grid" and living outside "normal society", (perhaps Amish - like) all of us are being obliged to surrender our privacy.
It feels dystopian and they are gathering watching.

My vehicle is a bit of a classic. No fancy tech in it. No one is collecting any information out of my car 😆

This is why I will not buy a new car. Nothing newer that 2018. This pisses me off. Don't use Bluetooth in my car. Smart homes and cars is a oxymoron because the powers to be know how stupid you are doing everything smart. 😆😅🤣😂🤣😅😆😅🤣😂

the other thing is when dealerships install GPS location trackers on vehicles (at the request of the vehicle loan companes) but without the custromers knowing (that they have a GPS tracking device on their vehicle) I have heard of cases where the vehicle loan gets paid off, people get a letter stating they need to come into the dealer to have the GPS tracking device removed (but here is the thing, the dealers are trying to charge customers a hefty fee to do this) and supposing you move outside the area where there is no dealer partner? Or worse, they dont' even tell you have a tracking device on your vehicle (it is just another organization tracking people and they can sell this information to third parties there are plenty of companies that will pay for that data). My auto insurance company wanted me to install a blue tooth device that would track everything (location, speed, braking, etc.), for a $70 a year discount. I told the sales agent, unless they plan on giving me a 95% discount on my insurance they can stick it (I don't get anywhere anymore, but it is just the principle of it).

My phone is not SYNCed up to my car. I also turn off my phone when not in use. The cops can still track your phone, but not when its is wrapped in tinfoil, the heavy duty stuff. Or just take out the battery. Mine easily comes out.

That's why I buy and drive pre-2010 vehicles. There is no need for these bells and whistles such as Onstar, GPS etc when the phone does it all for you. The only "modern" thing in my vehicle is the cell phone and I'm sure that it is collecting data on me.

My son received a phone call from a state trooper asking if he had seen an accident. He had seen the aftermath and could not pull over. They knew he was in the area close to the time the accident occurred. They got it off of his phone.
