  • What happens when a Quaker and a Methodist Reverend break into a secure weapons factory to cause billions of pounds worth of criminal damage?
Anti-arms and peace activists Sam Walton and Samuel ‘Woody’ Woodhouse attempted to disarm state-of-the-art eurofighter typhoon jets that were being sold to Saudi Arabia to be used in the Yemen Civil War.
After being caught in the act, arrested and charged with criminal damage, the pair expected to go to jail for up to 10 years. But, extraordinarily, the judge found them both not guilty. This is their story.
Using intimate interviews, documents and objects, ‘Investigators’ relives shocking and fearless crime stories through the eyes of those involved.

If they tried this in China, Russia, North Korea, the entire middle east, nations South of America, or Wakanda they would be taken to a dungeon where they would spend months if not years being tickled for information then eventually, shipped to a "Freedom Camp" for life.
The adventure at the freedom camp wouldn't last long, and thats if they survive the tickling, but lets not focus on the actual Nazis and evil doers of the world who everyone in this comment section if ignoring being the those who buy these weapons and wage war and those that supply them from socialist nations of the world.
Instead lets shift the blame to peaceful countries like the UK, who is actively fighting terrorism, and socialism and other evils and has been along side America for 250 years, also who ever is buying these weapons will 100% get them from other states that I mentioned instead of the UK and then evil and nefarious actors will profit which will only make them stronger and richer and the good guys won't get any intel or have a say in the manner while the entire situation just got worse because they got more weapons for cheaper and nothing was stopped, and in many cases worse weapons with worse targeting systems which will increase collateral damage.
On top of that no life was saved and even more lives were lost due to lack of awareness of the situation and ability to counter it, as a result of having less info and ability to spy, in comparison to knowing who the actors are, and no information was gained while new links to world's enemies have been made, but NVM all that, UK and Orange man bad, really really bad, and deep down inside we all know this to be true.

Finally, a harsh sentence will increase the status of 'martyr' for these guys. Also, add a little bit of hope that this story is true, because there is that certain smell when you watch "indie" news and docs from vice.
I would not talk much about weather vice is honest or not, or is the story about Sam and Samuel true. But I would point out that since WW2 pattern was : US/UK initiate arms conflict - their citizens protest - government censures it, or just cover it less in media, until they decide to get out of conflict - they get out of conflict and present it in a way how it was job well done and how citizens and activists stoped it - bombs stoped by good will of american people - government guilt washed away - repeat. Best proof to this pattern are a numerous stories how Vietnam war was not lost in Vietnam, but in US. And somewhat that is true. But that hippie activism that affected the conflict should not overshadow numerous villages burned in napalm made by US and west EU. The question also is weather they truly lost it.
Recently here in Serbia I read some articles on how there were Serbian made weapons in latest Nagorno Karabakh conflict. In the end I did not manage to decide weather it was true or false. I wont lie and say how it was some big impact on my conscience, but I did experience a feel of guilt and shame.

I thought the same thing! Christ always spoke about defending & aiding those who are weak or in a dire situation. I was raised to be what I was told was Christian. Sadly I’d never read much of the Bible & actually believed I was. When I was older I had a serious crisis of faith. What I was hearing & being taught didn’t seem to line up with the little I had read. I don’t like being deceived & was having some serious doubts. It was actually the remarks & lessons of my college sociology professor that stuck with me & left me with a deeply unnerving feeling. Because I am a GIANT nerd, I threw myself into serious research. From the earliest manuscripts, the early church practices & church fathers, origins of other faiths & their texts, science, apologetics... I dug in. The more I dug the more astonished I became, & found very little of what is considered modern Christianity lines up with Biblical faith. Biblical literacy & comprehension is flummoxingly minimal. Idolatry seems to be the religion of the day, my truth, what’s right for me, making God into ones own image of him rather than taking the time to get to know who His word says He is. The Christian faith can all be reduced to the greatest commandment which is love. Sadly even fewer people have a proper understanding of love than they do the Bible. It’s actually quite heartbreaking. While all of this started with me ready to leave the faith & being critical of it, instead it cemented my faith, broadened my world view, was paradigm shifting, & gave me a whole new window with which I view others & the world. I’m beginning further study into apologetics & pray I can achieve my lofty goals to help others restore their faith through critical thinking, sound argument & reason. I know you stated you’re an atheist. Was it always that way for you or did something happen that changed your mind? Just asking, I like to try to understand all points of view.

I do not believe he existed as a singular person but I do try to live my life thinking WWJD and I believe the world would be a better place if more people, and in particular so called Christians, did that as well. The minister in this video is a prime example of that. ❤️

@@ketmateo I can both understand & respect that. We all have our own path, beliefs, & personal experiences that help form our world view. However, some of the comments you made really struck me in a personal way, it was like a small glimpse of my former self. Many of the statements for rejecting you posed were what troubled me. I have since been able to find answers but the issue lies with whether a person can reason them acceptable answers. Have you ever heard of Bart Ehrman? He’s a textural critic & scholar & is not a believer. He has stated many times that no credible historical scholar will adhere to the idea Chris did not exist as we have more on his life & existence historically than most in history. Just stating this as food for thought. While we may not have the same views on faith, I know how hard one my security was, & know that not everyone will share that. While I am told to share the gospel of Christ, I’m not tasked to browbeat people over it, I see a lot of folks stray down that path. That kind of condemnation is what soured me & I’ve seen it equally from atheists & proclaiming Christians. I have found the answers to my questions & it’s my prayer others will find the same for themselves. The one thing I found in all my searching was that truth is not subjective. I know many would argue that, but I’ve yet to hear a good, sound argument against it. If truth is not subjective then there is absolute truth & not everyone can be right. It’s not the answer people like, especially with the cult of self that seems to loom large these days & the do what is right to me mentality (which is scary & potentially dangerous). Thank you for taking time time to respond, I quite enjoyed reading your comment. I’m always happy to learn more about how others feel & experience subjects like religion. I appreciate it!

The US is doing all it can to catch up and will carry the most blame for the 21st century by the time it's done, but the UK destroyed and enslaved more through its colonial empire, colonial wars, and continued economic devastation it profits from to this day, than any other single nation.

@@carrot7590 Did you miss the entire colonial core to my comment? That’s where the majority of the crimes against humanity took place. In India, in South Africa, in the horrific plunder and massacres of former Rhodesia, in Kenya, in the Caribbean, in Hong Kong, in Malaysia, in Oman, in Nigeria, and on and on.
And actually, you are incorrect about the number of wars, as well. Do you know of all these? And this is not all of them, as many of the colonies had British militaries separate from the main one. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_the_United_Kingdom

I would never do this but, God bless those who act on their convictions in a non violent manner . The Quakers are historically known for their anti violent stances on such things as war , women’s rights and they even started the Underground Railroad that freed many American slaves. I am not an activist but I respect those people of Biblical faith who have the character and conviction that I do not have to do what they can , ( in a non violent manner ) risking their own freedom for people of a different faith, culture , world view and nation.
The Methodists also have a long history of love and compassion toward humankind and the environment. I know that many people don’t like people with “ religious views”. This is understandable as people who call themselves Christians do many horrible things. If you were to read a Bible you would see that these hypocrites that claim to be Christians do not in fact follow the message of Christ, which is to love our neighbors as well as our enemies.
If anyone reads my message please know that not all people that call themselves Christians are sexist, racist, homophobes. We love God and His creations , which include you no matter who you are or your beliefs. I live as a Quaker and believe in the teachings of Christ that tell me to show love and compassion. We are all created by God therefore I will treat you with due respect, love and dignity. Please give us a chance and don’t assume that we are all religious hate filled people. I pray that people see my words and consider the idea that we are not all “ religious monsters”. Though I have a personal relationship with the Creator, I am no better than anyone else. I would love to hear and respectfully listen to anyone’s thoughts on the statements that I have made. May God bless you and our brothers and sisters in Yemen.

Spot on. I identify as a Christian but I belong to no church or denomination. In my book we are all manifestations of the Creator and there are many paths to find God within. I don't care who or what anyone identifies themselves as, I don't care what nationality anyone is, nor do I care about such inconsequential matters pertaining to the colour of one's skin - we are ALL equal and deserve love, respect, compassion and empathy.

I'm a very set-in-stone atheist, but I've grown increasingly interested in the Quakers over the past year or so (and what I've heard of some Methodist traditions too), in large part due to people like those featured in the video, and humane, enlightened and noble attitudes like the ones you've expressed in your comment. Best wishes.

What good does this do though? If it's not weapons from BAE or Lockheed it'll be from China or Russia. There is no shortage of suppliers of weapons, at least most of the weapons from the UK and the US are relatively accurate and precise with minimal unintended casualties unlike those purchased from other sources that will just be dropped on mass for maximum casualties in the vicinity.

There are many ministers that talk and never commit to action. I am glad I found a pastor that not only preached about pro-life but also raised seven children adopting four due to the duty and love he feels is earned. I understand the health of a mother and existential issues are indeed important but people like the minister and the Quaker is true example of love for one another without the full knowledge of who the suffering people were. Many people ask god’s existence and question how he can allow so much suffering, the way how I’ve been viewing the solution to suffering is to spread love with our actions. Many blessings to these two men, more people wether it’s of faith or not will change their world with selflessness. Peace.
