    I’m a certified nutritionist and worked in emergency medicine for 15 years. I been watching Dr Berg for years and even took some of his courses, however, I like this video as it gets deeper in other aspects medicine not just natural remedies. I personally don’t like taking pills and prefer the natural way, but as someone who has given medications to patients in an emergency setting, medications sometimes gave bad side effects. So while this video was an excellent point of view, I think medications are good to help restart the body back on track, nutrition is the key to stay off medications if possible ( outside chronic conditions).

    All hair regrowth aside... I used to eat quite poorly after I moved from Europe to North America. Because everybody around was too. Dr. Berg was the reason why I quit alcohol and completely changed my diet. I really needed someone to actually take time and explain from a medical point why exactly abusing substances and eating poorly is bad. I had only known all that on a superficial level before. Ngl, his video about sugar was a shocker. Quit white sugar the same day.
    He's also not saying that keto is an answer to everything, tho he advocates it strongly. If you are a woman with PCOS, prediabetes, trying to lose a few pounds, etc - this guy is a great person to watch!

      I disagree. If you're looking for dietary guidance, see a dietician. Berg is a chiropractor. He isn't a medical doctor and he has no formal training in nutrition. His advice dietary advice os dangerous, nobody should be on a carnivore diet. Human beings are not carnivores. As for keto, the facts are out there if you can wade through the bs you will find that the science regarding keto does not support this fad diet either. Berg is a con man and he makes a lot of money selling supplements and getting millions of views from naive people who think he is educated on this topic. He isn't.

    As a middle aged woman I noticed that my hair hadn't actually grown for many months which was very unusual for me. It took me as long as this again to realise that it was because of being quite anaemic and I hadn't put that together. Great to know you are seeing positive results, with Vit. C, iron, and hair Re growth.
      I am not quite middle-aged (36), though, have noticed hair thinning due to perimenopause and iron anemia.
      Also, it seems from too much Vit. A consumption; which, I have stopped, now.
      I do a mostly beef-based diet, though, missing most of my stomach and having a gastric bypass (and not, necessarily, by choice, either) - I don’t absorb nutrients, as well as my body should.
      I have recently started to consume foods with Vit. c and foods with iron (I can’t take supplements, due to kidney/liver issues).
      I just bought some blackstrap molasses, too.

      In fact my skin is much suppler than it's been in decades (have had eczema and dry skin in past)
      Molasses are also very good, i know person who swears by them for eyesight.
      Very rich mineral content.
      My (secret) has just been to play around with supplements and probiotics to see
      which really help.
      Collagen is so good for you too. And raw milk if you can get it.

I started taking care of the little things wrong with my health and it helped the big issues. Understanding DHT also helps me discover a few root causes. But it wasn’t easy, it’s not a one size fit all. If you want to be successful at recovering hair, there is no short cut. Even if you get a transplant, you will lose if you do not work at maintaining. 1. Finasteride - for the DHT
      2. Minoxidil twice a day - drops not foam
      3. Head Shoulders Zinc Pyrithione shampoo (to manage any fungus that may cause clogs on scalp)
      4. Mizani Scalp lotion (bc I have really dry scalp) twice a day before the minoxidil. It’s full of scalp food.
      Vitamins/Minerals/ from (food and supplements)
      5. (had to fix my digestive system first with betane hydro chloride bc I was low acid so I couldn’t absorb nutrients efficiently, you may not need this but Dr. Berg has great explanation)
      6. then I replenished my gut bacteria with Probiotics, kefir milk, (had to get my stomach right to absorb the following items), avocado, eggs. Good gut health also helps promote free testosterone, good for men. Especially my age.
      7. vitamin D, C, biotin, zinc, CoQ10 (antioxidant helps converts FOOD into energy, finasteride will make you tired). It’s important to research what each vitamin and mineral does and to ensure you need it for your body. Mainly protein and antioxidant rich food and drinks. I did do saw palmetto, fenugreek etc but I got nauseous. I want to try Nutrafol as it seems to have consolidated all those similar nutrients and others that promotes hair growth. The lysine requirement for human is 12mg per kg of weight. Thus a 77 kg (170 pound) person will need about 924 mg of lysine per day. Most of the beans will give you more than 1 gm of lysine per serving (example Soy beans 1.3 grams per serving, lentils. 1.25 gms per serving). Plus oats, seeds and greens have good amounts of lysine (example oats have 1.1 grams lysine per serving). Just Because, meat has more lysine, does not mean you need to eat meat (or adopt a carnivore diet) to get adequate lysine.

    What was strange for me was that the level of dht in both bald and non bald people are similar. I always thought dht was the issue but turns out follicles are the real culprit. Whats even more strange is that same follicles act differently on side of the head. A lot of mysteries yet to be solved.

    • @stinger0772
      @stinger0772 7 месяцев назад +4

      Because it's a matter of whether or not the DHT acts on the eminences of skull to cause skull expansion or not. It's genetic. No skull expansion means you keep full blood circulation to the follicle which allows DHT to keep flushing out from the follicle which prevents minuturization. It's all about blood flow which gets restricted in expanding, rounded, bulbous scalps.

    • @Directlite664
      @Directlite664 7 месяцев назад

      @@stinger0772
      Dht is not the issue. Turns out dht is crucial for hair growth. Yeah thats fascinating.
      Normal hair follicles on side and back of the head NEED dht to maintain growth.
      Skull expansion theory has no scientific evidence. Its still a hypothesis.
      One major evidence against that theory is hair transplantation. Donor follicles from back and side scalp do not miniaturize when placed on top scalp either, concluding the issue lies in those follicles on top scalp.
      It's similar to auto immune disease. Dht was meant to thicken the hair but somehow AGA follicles miniaturize on it.

    • @stinger0772
      @stinger0772 7 месяцев назад +1

      @stu1stustu Transplanted hairs to the top of the scalp don't minaturize if the skull expansion process has progressed enough before transplantation. The hairs are transplanted deep enough to reach plenty of blood flow and will remain as long as significant skull growth does not continue afterward. This explains why guys getting transplants in their 20s can end up failing. They had the procedure BEFORE the skull expansion process progressed. The only way to prevent that is to take fin which stops the expansion. Minoxidil works by increasing blood flow but does not stop expansion. DHT may not be the culprit of miniaturization, it may simply be lack of blood flow. But the catalyst is DHT's bone growth and thickening properties that act on the two temporal eminences and the two on the crown. This explains the pattern loss. I've studied this theory for ten years. It's obvious as the day is long.

    • @stinger0772
      @stinger0772 7 месяцев назад

      @stu1stustu I guarauntee if you transplanted hair follicles from the top of the scalp that are "predisposed" to death to the side or back of the head they would remain thick and healthy. The life of the flesh is in the blood.

      I’m regrowing my hair significantly (norwood 6 to noorwood 4 in 8 months) by using, 5% minoxidil, rosemary oil, ginseng oil, 2 capsules of saw palmeto everyday twice AND the game changer is microneedling. Also, I use laser helmet 4 times a week but I don’t think is completely necessary. Point is, that you can regrow your hair back! All you have to do is do research and put effort on it.

    While Dr. Berg is extremely biased on his preferred diet, I do feel like he offers sound advice and usually doesn't recommend things that are detrimental to health. Keto and carnivore diets can be beneficial for some people and usually don't harm people. A lot of his advice has helped my dad come off blood pressure medications as well as lose some weight and feel very good and energetic, and I can tell the difference in how he behaves. So while I acknowledge his biases, I do feel like he has some good points. In our modern world, living on a modern diet of carbs often does lead to certain common diseases, and by reducing the main ingredient / main problem, which is carbs, we can address a lot of common illnesses.

      @@terrir.7604 We are each SO individual! I wouldn't advise you to change anything - especially hormones without proper medical testing and doctor supervision. But, yeah, the side effects of dutasteride and finasteride are fairly rare and easily reversed with a reduced dosage or discontinuing the medication. Some doctors will advise times breaks - take it for a month, give yourself a week off - repeat, if you have problems. So, yes, side effects are devastating when they happen, but with these drugs they can be managed. Very best of luck to you!

      I don't think his videos preach eating an omnivore, diverse diet to an extent that it feels like he's getting paid for it by the meat industry. He's actually a huge fan of mediterranean food, which does not mean Italy sends him a check. Personally, I tried going vegan, wrecked my health over that idea. Mostly because I did not know how important supplements and watching nutrition was going to be. I stumbled upon Dr. Berg's channel when I was losing hair, had pcos, deficiencies, acne, etc. I ended up quitting going to do blood tests to find out whats up, I quit white sugar, quit alcohol, doing intermittent fasting (did a longer water fast too), I exercise, have a balanced omnivore diet, avoide garbage foods, started using certain foods more than other.
      I get he's not for everybody, but if someone likes a calm voice explaining you the science behind certain things (like for example insulin resistance), then he's really a great YTer to watch :)

      The Keto diet is quite harsh, i dont follow it, i did cut out excessive sweets from my diet but kept my rice, potatoes.

      Sugar and saturated fat is *just* what the "established medical community" been warning about the past decades aswell.
      What makes Berg "controversial" is that he tries to help people stay healthy by changing their diet instead of relying on medication, something pharmaceutical companies dont like.
      I watch him, i take the advice i need, but i dont follow the keto. Works great.

Particularly, if ferritin levels are lower than 70ng (UK), a person could experience symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, exercise eversion and hair loss (to name a few).
