My husband always shaved with a shaving brush. He’d shave with the bathroom open so the light and noise of him readying for work would gently wake me. Almost never heard him leave the bed and never will now I suppose. The sound of the brush making lather or applying to his face was always so calming.

He might be using a straight razor but he's got the angle all wrong.

Straight razors suck hard. Safety razors are cheap as hell and easy to use which is why nobody used straight razors in the war because they required way to much time and way to much risk of nicking and cutting the skin. Soldiers had barely 10 minutes to shower shit and shave you think anyone would use something so primitive.

Thank you for this. Very poignant. Those simple routines in the time of strife. The Canadians always proved themselves professional soldiers with well disciplined habits while in the field.
