You know Lord Hood is right John has done so much for humanity that he can have just about any promotion. When and if he retires he’ll be set for life.
I’m not surprised Chief wouldn’t want to be an Admiral. From what I’ve seen of his character, I suspect he’d hate sending others to fight and die on his behalf instead of doing the job himself.
Yeah, it’s never gonna happen. I’m not saying this with an ounce of sentiment, but a good vocal performance that sells the illusion to the human ear requires the one thing a machine does not have: a soul. Without TRUE consciousness like ours, it is impossible to adapt, adjust, or make sure whatever it is you’re saying has any feeling to it. Hell A.I. can’t even get tone changes right! The only time I’ve EVER seen A.I do a good job with voices is Darth Vader from the Obi-Wan show, but the only reason it worked so well is because Vader’s voice is SUPPOSED to be synthesized/robotic. That’s not even mentioning that Jame Earl Jones HIMSELF was consulting throughout the process.
As a testament to your voice acting, for the first 7 seconds I thought this was an AI dub with the voice lines from the games and I rolled my eyes. So great job!
When it comes to MC snark, I don't think anything beats his exchange with Cortana. "What's the plan?" "Thought I'd try shooting my way out. Mix things up."
Chief would be promoted and immediately demote himself back to Chief, ground troops would get a morale boost thinking he did it to continue being a boots on the ground soldier with them when in reality he just likes the name
The thing is, if he gets promoted to an officer rank, he becomes wasted ressources. Spartans shine when they are boots on the ground participating in the action, an officer is there to command and manage troops. There's little tocno point having a spartan be a pen-pusher or commanding a ship or space-station, others can do those things, while only spartans can 1v1 a brute chieftain in melee combat...
To be fair, being promoted up the chain of command sounds like an interesting retirement for chief. I reckon you could do a lot with that premise, like does he reunite with any of the other spartans who didn't have their augmentations work out? Some of them have to still be alive since they worked in more administrative capacities.
I hope Microsoft and 343 allow Chief's story to end on a positive note. He deserves to retire and train future spartans. He doesn't need some explosive ending.
