    Nice video , I am looking at a sonar / chart plotter , that will be compatible with Navionics , i also would like some type of trolling motor that would be compatible to the chart so it could not only stay on spot but also follow contour lines and way points from the chart from all the research I've seen so far is that the only trolling system available for simrad is the motorguide xi5 gps pin point which also works on the lowrance ti2 7 and up , the minn kota riptide terrova and ulterra I PILOT LINK models only work with Hummingbird.Helix and i found out that they also come in the I PILOT version that does not LINK to the Hummingbird Helix, i only mention all these facts because i heard you mention an interest in a trolling motor later down the road and wanted to share my hours of looking at what is compatible

      Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience. The hummingbird bird and minn Kota setup looks sweet (I believe Hummingbird owns Minn Kota now) and Garmin now has their own trolling motor system. Spot lock or pin point is what I truly like to have, the contour feature is nice but if it’s not dead calm where I fish I’m afraid that feature won’t work for me. But let me know what you get, any experience is appreciated. Again, thank you for the comment.

    That distress feature is cool but be sure and invest in a good Personal Locator Beacon if you don't already have one.

    I have been boating for 45 years and most recently a 25 Grady white , 28 foot Bertram and have had Furuno Raytheon and most recently garmin screens on these boats I recently purchased a GO 9 SIMRAD because I heard good things about them ,it is a decent unit but it is by far the least intuitive to operate so if you are not looking for something that is a bit complicated to figure out this might not be the unit for you

    What’s quickest way to mark a school of fish on the go9 using ehco?

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  3 года назад

      Tap the screen on the school of fish> the cursor should come> tap the menu tab in the lower right corner > find and tap “set waypoint” . The go unit will set a waypoint with the corresponding gps coordinates for that sonar reading. Sounds like a bit much, but since you can pan thru the sonar log you don’t have to be Johnny on the spot with the “ man over board button”. A little practice and it will be 2nd nature. Same goes for side scan, if you see something 40feet to the right of you, you can mark it on the screen set a waypoint, the Go9 will set a point on that spot 40feet from your location.
      Make sure when your done, remember to clear the cursor so the sonar scroll will resume.

    Im planning to purchase a new unit ... im not sure whether to go with the GO 9” or to buy the nss evo3 simrad ?? I wish you can help me!
    Is it worth to spend money on NSS evo3?
    Thanks for your video

    • @MattPaulFishing

      saif alhammadi don’t get me wrong I love my GO9 but if I had the money and fished more than 150 days out the year, I would have bought an NSS setup. The GO series was a budget unit that could do everything I wanted it to do. Being budget friendly allowed me to get the Simrad Outboard pilot. ...The only real con about the GO series is the touch screen gets too hot to touch in the summer time... Not sure if that helped.

    • @saifalhammadi489
      @saifalhammadi489 4 года назад +1

      PaulOffshoreFishing sure it really helped since we have very hot season in my place.. what is the significance different between these 2? Any advantage in transducer? Application ?? Is the evo3 faster processing? What will make put my money on the EVO3 since it nearlly double the price of Go9” ?

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  4 года назад +1

      saif alhammadi when I bought the GO series the gen 3 NSS wasn’t released yet, so I’m sure the Gen 3 NSS has better specifications than the GO. There were some clarity issues on the GO that have been fixed through firmware updates.
      Disclaimer, I have no experience running the NSS, just giving opinions on what I have read.
      The really significant difference I saw was network capabilities and physical keypad to compliment the touch screen. You can link multiple NSS plotters and you can also link multiple transducers to the unit as well. There is an HDMI output too. I’m not sure if the NSS come with a transducer. Basically all I is you paying for lot more options in order to have the ability to have an expanded navigation network like is done on big yachts... Sounds like you can’t go wrong with either. I have been happy with my GO series.

    Nice video a lot of info but 1 question how did you get the fuel level on there to show??

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  5 лет назад

      Satber Hoxhaj I’m not sure how your gauges are setup. I have the digital Yamaha link gauges the reads the fuel level. Yamaha provides an output wire that you can get a NMEA 2000 adaptor and connect into your NMEA backbone. My GO9 is also connected to the NMEA backbone which allows it to receive the output from the Yamaha gauges.

    Will the GO series accept the Navionics mapping card? I has a NSS EVO2 on previous boat that had a slot in the front to install card

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  4 года назад

      Chris M there are two micro sd card slots on the back of the unit. As long as your navionics card is a micro card, it should work.

      @@MattPaulFishing - Thanks for the feedback. Had EVO2 unit on previous boat and liked it. Looking at a new bay boat now, listed as having a pre-installed 12" Simrad, was ready to install a second 12" EVO3, then found out it's the GO12. With the card slots, sounds like the larger GO series units can do most of what the EVO units can do except network and run multiple transducers.

    Hi ..i bought to Nss evo3 and i want to link them together and have the engine data and map and CHIRP all displayed in the simrad screen?? So i need to have the vesselview link only? Or there extra items or wires ? I need to include??

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  4 года назад +1

      I’ll produce and post you a video on the NMEA 2000 system I setup to read engine data from my Yamaha.
      As far as Chirp it should be just a matter, of plugging the transducer in and manipulating the settings.
      Displaying the three modules of information you want should be able to be setup in your preferences.

    Just kind of Skimmed thru the video. My side vision isn't working. Do I need a special transducer for this?

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  5 лет назад

      Which transducer do you have? I have the Total Scan Transducer, unfortunately I haven't had much luck in water deeper than 80 feet. Works great inshore. Also, the side scan won't work if you run the sounder in chirp mode because CHIRP and side scan require the same frequency.

    I have a 43ft Black Thunder Power boat with the Simrad GO9 XSE is it OK to mount the the Totalscan extended Transducer to the stern with High performance twin engines

    • @MattPaulFishing
      @MattPaulFishing  4 года назад

      Michael Vitale thanks for the question and comment. Disclaimer, I know nothing about powerboats but I have some thoughts on the setup. Unfortunately, I think the transom mounted total scan transducer is not ideal. The turbulence the engines and the tabs generate with greatly inhibit the sonar signal if it can even pick it up at all. The faster I run in my boat the fuzzier the sonar reads, and if it’s rough some times it can’t find the bottom at cruise speed. The GO series should be compatible with a 9-pin “thru-hull” or “in-hull” transducers (B60 or M260) which would probably be more practical for a power boat. Those mounting get the transducer located up in clean water for a better signal. Those transducers do not provide structure scan. Hopefully that helps, not sure it I answered your question. Thank you again for watching my video.
