Answering Your Questions About Mary and Her Immaculate Conception
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 фев 2025
- Truly loving Mary will never lessen our faith in God, or take attention away from Christ. Here’s why:
The Church has 4 dogmas regarding our Blessed Mother. They are…
Jesus gave Mary to all of us as our Mother during his crucifixion
Mary was immaculately conceived without original sin
Mary was assumed into Heaven after the resurrection of Christ
Mary was a virgin before, during, and after the birth of Christ
Today’s video is focusing on the second dogma dealing with Mary’s immaculate conception. It’s Mary’s preservation of soul that made it possible for Christ to be conceived in her through the Holy Spirit. So if Mary was able to be saved from original sin, why wasn’t I? The answer is simple: everyone has a role to play in the plan of God, but our role is different from Mary’s.
God gives us everything we need to accomplish the role he’s entrusted to us. We are all born with specific and unique gifts, talents, and graces that make us who we are. There may be a lot of different things that we want to do, and maybe we’ve already done some of those things, but there are specific things we were made to do.
The immaculate conception not only shows us the love God has for our salvation and our lives, but it also shows that he will give us everything we need to do the things we were called to do: the very purpose for our existence. If God could immaculately conceive Mary without original sin in the womb of Saint Anne, think about how many graces he can bestow upon us!
This feast day is an opportunity to glorify God and thank him for all he has given us, and all he gave Mary so she could answer the call of Blessed Mother. The more we learn about and love her, the more we see the beauty and intentionality of Christ in our lives.

“There are not one hundred people who hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongfully perceive the Catholic Church to be.” -Fulton J. Sheen
I think many people hate the Catholic church, not because of slander. Slander is simply the justification for their hatred.
@@dkeall1 But @abby // is saying the reason they hate the church is because they are told lies about it and don't understand it even if they think they do. Although there are some people who go out of their way to find more information about us, but I find they never hated the church in the first place or if they did they changed their mind.

@@kaliek3781 yes I understood that. What I was trying to say, with brevity, was that I think people just hate the Catholic church. I think that people don't want God to interfere with their ways of life, particularly when it comes to society's worship of sex and pleasure. People use the slander of Catholicism as justification for their emotional response against Catholics, ignoring the fact that many atrocities have been committed by many different groups, and true Catholics reject the atrocities that have been done "in the name of God."
There will definitely be those who are genuinely deceived by secular slander against Catholics, but I believe it's mostly emotional aversion to abandon the morality decided by self, followed by slanderous justification.
@@dkeall1 Hmmm, that is a good point. I agree a lot of people probably don't like the Catholic Church because they think it is restricting. I wonder if they would change their mind if they saw what God does.

This is such an encouragement & instruction. Returned to Church recently after many years & drawn closer to Mary every day . I pray daily for my non-Catholic family members who don't understand my calling back home & to Mary & her Immaculate Conception
I have a question. It’s my knowledge that as Catholics you venerate Mary, especially during the month of May when the May crowning takes place. And when you do the May crowning I remember the singers sung “ave Maria” and someone would crown the Mary statue and bow down to it. But it felt like idol worship because it says in Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:17 that people would put offerings for the queen of heaven, a pagan god, and I heard a catholic priest call Mary the queen of heaven. So my question is this: Is Mary veneration, specifically crowning and bowing down to a statue of her, idolatry?

I will say.... Mother Mary led my conversion and brought me to Jesus..
I am 16 and belong to a Hindu family...I am from India..
I was always fascinated by Horror movies(specially Conjuring and Insidious).. and I knew much about the diabolical world...
But not about the divine love of God for me..
Last summer... I watched the movie- "THE NUN"-part of Conjuring Universe...
In that movie.... the famous character- Valak was truly horrifying.. and it inspired me and my friends to play games.. in which one would become a ghost and he will chase others... to protect ourselves.. we will have to say prayers, like- "In the name of Jesus go away".. our words like that
But In that movie- The Nun.. All the nuns in the abbey prayed "Ave Maria" prayer.. It was happy to listen them.. I decided to learn the prayer and use it while me and my friends played the horror games...
After I learned the prayer in latin.. without knowing the meaning at all.. I use to recite it whenever I was free...
But slowly- slowly... I felt my love for that prayer was increasing.. and my heart was getting kind and full of love for the prayer..
I slowly started to know many principles of catholic church... Note that.. during my research .. I never came across protestant teachings.... Mother Mary saved me.. from that poison...
within a month(August 2019) I knew many things.. From that day I never felt sick... Mother Mary helped me in every aspect... my school life... grades and marks.. getting my first Rosary... and till date... she helps me every day with unexpected miracles...
So I think... those who question about Mary.. should be asked about the Fatima sun miracle and the true predictions of World war 2.... and My story will always remain a testimonial for the devotion to Mary...
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro nobis, pecatoribus, nuncet in hora, mortis nostrae.. Amen
Ave Maria gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu in mulieribus et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus

But I wont reveal them my faith now..maybe after several years.. I am just very new to the fait.. This is my 2nd christmas.. Actually..
This sept. I had a deep desire for rosary.. But there was no way I could have got it! No church nearby.. No store.. My parents+ schools aren't yet opened in india(I could have asked any of my friends to bring it..)..due to the pandemic..But with deep deep faith...I prayed the rosary with my fingers every day..during october.. 6 rosaries/day.. Hoping God will give me a rosary..
But days passed.. There were no changes.. No hopes at all..!! On 13th Oct. (Fatima day)I was disheartened..I went up in my terrace..and cried so much.. But then.. To ny amazement.. I saw a figure of mother mary.. With crown in her head standing in the clouds.. Immediately captured photos..(if u want..I can mail them to you). She comforted and not stop praying...

Excellent explanation Father Mike....I am a Protestant but you and your videos have drawn me closer to understanding what Catholics believe. I couldn’t argue that because Jesus said from the cross to John: This is your mother, that it means necessarily she is our mother....couldn’t He have just wanted to confirm that she would be protected after His death?
Also good to see that no Protestants are arguing or getting quarrelsome about this....we all love Jesus and have much more in common than what is different in our beliefs.
Amen! Well said. Catholic christians do not worship the saints in heaven. We simply love them as our brothers and sisters. They intercede for us just as we intercede for our brothers and sisters here, our feet planted on earth. And, yes it all leads us directly to Jesus who is the mediator before our Father. It is perfection that we can go directly to the Lord and at the same time lean on our family. I pray for us all to be one big happy family. 😊

Thank you Fr Mike. When it comes to loving the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Christians imitate Christ. It’s all about Jesus. Jesus loves his mother with a perfect love so we love Mary to. Of all Gods creatures none is more perfect than the mother Jesus created for himself. It’s in the Bible.

Very uplifting... I have everything I need to play my role (God's will). Thank you, Father Mike.
I was once stunned when someone explained that this original sinlessness of Mary’s is the sinlessness of the newly baptized. Each of us who is baptized is given this clean slate, too! The timing was a special grace from God for her, but it is even more amazing to me that she used her freedom to remain sinless her whole life. This is one reason she is the example of the perfect disciple.
No, Mary had to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior, to receive salvation, just as we all do. We are redeemed from original sin when we receive salvation. We are no longer under that sin. Mary was not free from original sin until she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Until then she had to still live according to Jewish Law.
When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit hovers over us, just as the Holy Spirit hovered over Mary when she conceived Jesus. When that happens we are born again, with a new spirit which is born of God. We are then children God.
Mary had to have her sins forgiven through animal sacrifice, just as all the other Jews did. The only human without sin ever was Jesus. She was a normal person, with a normal person's need for salvation. In Luke 1:47 she says, "And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior". -If she was sinless she would not need a savior. If the Bible is difficult to understand, pray to the Lord Jesus for understanding, and don't give up. Save your veneration, praise and worship for
Jesus and Jesus ALONE. Dead saints (including Mary) cannot help you. Jesus referred to dead people as "SLEEPING"". Daniel 12:2, Job 3:11-17, John 11:11-14,
1 Thessalonians 4: 15-17, John 5:28-29. Believe ONLY what is written in the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible is it written for us to pray to dead people. BUT, it is good to have the elders of the Church (living people who believe in Jesus) pray with and for you in your time of need.....check your Bible where this is written James 5: 14-16. You do not need Mary or dead saints to approach God's throne. That was the purpose of the spilled blood of Jesus. Hebrews 4.
God gave you his only begotten SON, who came as 100% man so YOU can relate directly to him (he is also 100% God). Believe and listen to HIM. Not Mary.

I guess the Bible got this wrong, if you need to first pray to Mary, before the Lord Jesus can hear you. Save ALL your veneration and worship for Jesus and Jesus alone (not Mary). Mary is a great and wonderful saint. That's all. She is simply the vessel by which the Son came to Earth to dwell among us. Do not minimize the value of HIS blood so YOU can boldly approach the throne of grace by yourself, without first having to pray to Mary first. When I was a hopeless alcoholic and lost everything, a Catholic friend in AA encouraged me to cry out to Mary, even though I am Protestant. She showed up and restored every aspect of my life and taught me to accept the gift of Christ’s forgiveness.
I am back after a year and am about to celebrate four years sober. Mary helps me edify Christ Jesus by being a better father, husband, son and member of my community. Often I develop resentment against helping others. I am still an alcoholic even though I do not drink.
But, if I do it as a devotion to Mary, it suddenly becomes easy . I wish other Protestants would just let it go. She helps me by continuing to remind me that her Son still loves me despite my past transgressions.

"In Him through her."
Wedding of Canan sweet pea
Mary had to have her sins forgiven through animal sacrifice, just as all the other Jews did. The only human without sin ever was Jesus. She was a normal person, with a normal person's need for salvation. In Luke 1:47 she says, "And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior". -If she was sinless she would not need a savior. And Jesus rebuked her in John 2:4 which hardly seems fitting if she were sinless.
@@julienielsen3746 Mary is the perfect example of why, even without sin, we are in desperate need of God. Mary’s perfect will and sacrifice to God shows that. she still needs God, so of course Jesus is still her Savior. and with context, the whole story of the wedding at cana shows us how Jesus submits to Mary. He tells her it is not His time, but with her urging, He listens to our blessed mother. this is why we ask Mary to pray for us. just as others pray for us, asking Mary to pray for us is so powerful because of that story. Jesus listens to His mother.

As a protestant I gave this a listen. We typically ignore St Mary too much while we focus on the apostles, and other Saints. We should certainly honor her along with the others. But Jesus himself said “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”. Look up Matthew 12:49 where He Himself then gives the answer to that question. Scripture interprets scripture. We cannot take single versus out of context like Jesus asking St John to take her into his home. But let us do so in the sense of her being a Saint.
“We have everything we need to play the role, to accomplish the task, the live the mission that Christ has placed you (us) on this earth to live”
Your metaphor put things in great perspective
You’ve to be wise to get to Jesus, your best to go thought His mother - Mother Mary 🌟

To me, God gave us the Saints and especially Mary Our Lady, because He knows, in His wisdom, that we can relate more to them.....God in many ways is very abstract, which we can hardly even imagine....whereas Mary and the Saints we can picture clearly as they were human (even with photos and videos in the case of recent ones)...I don't know the 'theology' of that or if that's correct but that's how I see it :)
Did Jesus not also come as a man. Did he not go through every temptation we humans suffer here on Earth. Hebrews 4:14-16. Read you Bible to see these things. These are not my opinions, it is the written Word. If the Bible is difficult to understand, pray to the Lord Jesus for understanding, and don't give up. Save your veneration, praise and worship for Jesus and Jesus ALONE. Dead saints cannot help you. Jesus referred to dead people as "SLEEPING"". Nowhere in the Bible is it written to pray to dead people. BUT, it is good to have the elders of the Church (living people who believe in Jesus) pray with and for you.....check your Bible where this is written. My question is this, if God can immaculately conceive Mary without original sin, why do we need Jesus? Why doesn't God just immaculately conceive everyone? Why was Jesus's sacrifice necessary if God has the ability to simply nullify a person's sin?
Ooooh.... interesting 🤔
Mary still had the free will to sin as we all do. God knew Mary wouldn't sin and gave her the tools she needed, but as for everyone else we will keep messing up. I forgot who but someone compared it to if your child kept breaking something everytime you fixed it. You have to work on the kid first.... If that makes any sense....
That is a loaded question, but I understand your curiosity. Think about what a world without sin would look like. That goes back to why suffering exists. God loves us enough not to let us live in a perfect world. There's some really amazing talks from great Catholic theologians on the topic.
This is a good question! The covenants of the Old Testament were all designed to do what Jesus in is new and everlasting covenant accomplished, but all fell short somehow if that makes sense which is why Jesus was necessary. Since God is beyond time, the act of His resurrection is actually what allowed the immaculate conception to occur even though it is in the past. This also opened the gates of Heaven to all those who had died previous to the resurrection. This is a very interesting area of the faith to research.
@@kaliek3781 The question really isn't about Mary, it's what God can and can't do. I was told that Jesus was sent to serve as a sacrifice so our sins could be forgiven. If God can simply decide that a particular sin doesn't count, why do we need Jesus? Could we just ask God directly for forgiveness (if Jesus didn't exist) and God simply nullify that sin, like he did with Mary?
Thank you Father Mike.
The quote at 4:10 I believe it belong to saint Maximillian Kolbe.
The more you love Jesus, the more Mary loves you.
I am a Christian and unlike many, I do believe Catholics are my brothers and Sister in Christ. But what you said in this video is something I can never accept. Mary was a Blessed woman. And I do believe gave us all reason to accept that she was the mother of the Son of God. But I cannot accept that God forgot her, her sin. Made her Holy, without Him sacrifice on the cross. It was not finished until the vile in the timple ripped and Jesus called out his powerful words. "It is finished."
Jesus knew he could not be a son to Mary many more and in love gave the responsibility to have her taken care of, not to put power over us. She is human, sinned and needs Christ to say her life as all of us. 100% God 100% Human can't have it both ways.
You're not making any sense.

The Son is first noone can say that Jesus is the Lord without the Holy spirit and no person comes to the Father but trough the Son.

Hi, this is an innocent question about Catholic art. Why is Mary’s Immaculate Conception pictured as her Assumption? What’s wrong with showing a pregnant St Anne?
I have seen a picture of St. Anne with Mary in her womb before. But I guess showing Mary in heaven is a good way to depict the immaculate conception. At Lourdes Mary told St. Bernadette “I am the Immaculate Conception.” So the immaculate conception isn’t just an event that happened when she was conceived, but also who she is.
@@julienielsen3746 she was preserved from the stain of original sin, but Jesus is still her savior. It just happened in a different order than the rest of us. Similar to how Adam and Eve were created without original sin, but the difference is that they chose to sin. It was fitting for God to prepare Mary, the mother of the incarnate word, to be immaculate.
@@julienielsen3746 also John 2 is a really weird verse for you to quote, because in that passage Jesus performs his first miracle at the request of his mother. I’m not sure you’re making the point you think you are when you read the verse in context.
@@magnoliam4159 So, she just said, "They have no wine." She didn't even ask Him anything. The point I was making is that He rebuked her. Another translation says,"And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come."
Where God guides..he provides.
Amen 🙏
It really seems like a stretch for me because after he says this is your mother why couldn’t he just be telling him that so he knows to protect her because after that sentence it says and then he take her into her home?
ST. John "takes Mary into his home" because that signifies that she is his mother now and it is his responsibility to care for Mary, like he would care for his own mother. This is another way we know Jesus had no siblings because in that time when an only son died before the mother it was especially sad because widowed women didn't have many ways to support themselves, if Jesus would have had other siblings they would have cared for Mary. But Jesus does not have any siblings so He gave her to St. John, the Beloved Disciple, who represents use so now she is our Mother too! ~ Rockfeather
@@rockmintswirl5616 see that all makes sense excepttt the ending that she needs to be all our mothers that’s where you need to read the doctrines rather than the Bible and in that case is that not having more faith in the church then god?
@@itzr8856 Ok, well from a more biblical standpoint in Old Testament the King's Mother was the queen not his wife since many kings back then had multiple wives. So if Jesus is the King of us wouldn't that make Mary the Queen of us too? Also, St. John never names himself in his Gospel, he calls himself either "the Beloved Disciple" or "the disciple who Jesus loved" and the reason he did is because he represents all us. Because we are all beloved and Jesus loves all of us, the instances where I can recall that St. John especially represents all of us are when he leans on Jesus' chest near His Heart and at the foot of the Cross when Jesus gave St. John and us Mary as our Mother.
As for the part where you ask about having more faith in the Church than God. Well if you believe that Jesus founded the Church (as Catholics do) then the Church speaks to us when somethings is not explicitly in the Bible. For example the word Trinity is not in the Bible but Christians everywhere believe in the Holy Trinity even though that specific word is nowhere to be found in Scripture. Lastly, the Church is like a 3 legged stool, without one of "legs" it falls down, the 3 "legs" are Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium (teaching authority).
Hope this helps a little and thanks for being civilized on the internet! God bless ~ Rockfeather
Father Mike, we also have to remind people to ask for help when they need it. We all have this thought that we have everything but we were never thought how to ask for help and when to ask for help.

Why did Mary need a savior if she was sinless?
If God preserves you from original sin, did He not still save you? If someone is in a car accident and someone is injured in the burning car yet a bystander reaches in a pulls the person from the car, but moments earlier pulled someone out of the way of the crash (leaving them uninjured) did not the bystander save both people? Mary did not need to experience sin to be saved from it, and to say anything else is not biblical. No place does the bible say Mary sinned. Also, she made this proclamation before the saving grace of the cross and was the only person to declare being saved personally and definitively. Just some thoughts to consider.
Mary was immaculately conceived by God because she had imperfect parents. The Holy Spirit cannot conceive The Lord God Jesus in a corrupted womb that is why Mary had to be saved in advanced by God and that is the Immaculate Conception. This is evident when Angel Gabriel saluted Mary "Hail Full of Grace..." and "you have found favor with God" in LUKE 1:28-31, Kaire KeCHARITOmene. Jesus cannot be born with a stain of sin / original sin, The Lord God Jesus is The Spotless Lamb and Perfect, he was always divine from the moment of his conception (COL 2:9) and the Holy Spirit cannot conceive Christ in a sinner's womb that is why Mary was Immaculately Conceived in her mother's (Ann) womb, meaning Mary was saved in advanced by God so she can conceive Jesus in the bubble of space and time (earth). This is why Angel Gabriel saluted Mary "Hail Full of Grace" or Kaire KeCHARITOmene in the original Greek in LUKE 1:28-31 meaning Mary is already full of grace (saved) even before the Savior Jesus was born in the bubble of space and time (earth) / have found grace with God and will always be endowed with grace by God. Mary cannot also fall into personal sin because an enmity was given by God between the woman (Mary) and the devil (serpent) in GEN 3:15 because Mary will raise the Son of God Jesus and no error and sin can enter the Holy Family.
THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH):
490 To become the mother of the Savior, Mary "was enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a role." 132 The angel Gabriel at the moment of the annunciation salutes her as "full of grace". 133 In fact, in order for Mary to be able to give the free assent of her faith to the announcement of her vocation, it was necessary that she be wholly borne by God's grace.
491 Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, "full of grace" through God, 134 was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854:
The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin. 135
492 The "splendor of an entirely unique holiness" by which Mary is "enriched from the first instant of her conception" comes wholly from Christ: she is "redeemed, in a more exalted fashion, by reason of the merits of her Son". 136 The Father blessed Mary more than any other created person "in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places" and chose her "in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him in love". 137
493 The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God "the All-Holy" (Panagia), and celebrate her as "free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature". 138 By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long.

@@dherpin4874 The Church says that Mary was saved from needing to be saved. But the Immaculate Conception declares that Mary was redeemed at the moment of her conception and that means her redemption was not by Faith because she could not be conscious or know anything at all! But the Gospel teaches us that our salvation is by Faith. No wonder this dogma confuses.
@@andrewharmon3653 slight but critical correction, that is we are not saved by faith, but by Grace through faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8
Mary was saved by a special Grace at birth (born free from original sin), she maintained her salvation by remaining sinless through her faith. I am not sure how where is the confusion.
This is further expressed in Luke 1:28 …And he came to her and said, " Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!"
Heaven is referring to her as “full” of Grace (that which saves). Then in verse 47 declares God her savior. This is important because she is the only person in the Bible to declare being personally saved (past tense) no other person not even Paul speaks as being actively “saved”. There is much more these are just a couple of things to ponder.
