But all that shit inside is proprietary. You ever buy proprietary parts?? At best the system plus it's replacement parts is just under or as much as the custom build. Plus All these big companies buy in bulk; Whatever is cheapest, so the perception of a value is an illusion. You get screwed!!
also having microcenter assemble the lego pieces was a fuckin joke. if you cant follow a youtube tutorial from LTT on assembly then you should buy a console (one of their only pros is they come assembled). in total this build would be $200 cheaper if the person building it was smart.
That would mean there is no significant price advantage for building it yourself.

@mattroski007 Not everyone can comprehend how computers work, even with easy access to resources on learning... Lots of people just don't care. And there isn't much that can be done about it. It's why companies like Apple do so well... Treat a PC like an all-in-one console or appliance and they sell like hotcakes. I've encountered plenty of people on Discord that don't have much clue of how their computers work. It's kind of unbelievable, but they are out there.
To be completely fair, look at a budget motherboard's rear I/O. Its basically the same, just with video ports (HDMI, VGA or DVI), and MAYBE a PS/2 port.
Dell simply removed what was deemed unnecessary for that PC. It has a discrete GPU, so integrated graphics make no sense. USB peripherals are the norm, so PS/2 makes no sense.
And as for the classic parallel and serial ports....come on, they should have been removed ages ago.
In short, its rear I/O is more or less the standard basic budget mobo I/O.
Cant say the same for SATA and other internal connectors however. That Dell motherboard cant really do much in terms of expandability.
I guess we should be glad it even has a couple of extra PCIe, in case someone wants to add a Sata controller or something.

Contrary to popular belief gaming DOES NOT BENEFIT FROM MULTI-CHANNEL. There is extensive reporting on this, suggest google search. Now, multi channel RAM is a huge boost to almost every other category, but NOT GAMING. On the other hand more RAM is always better gaming experience.
This is why gaming rigs - especially from Dell - almoist always come with single stick. That and to leave space for user upgrades.
Of course is 8GB enough is entirely different topic and here we may... converge more than the above. Mine has 32GB RAM and fortunately still is enough, but kinda dreading that upgrade already. My budget is very fixed.
@Adam S. I upgraded my PC a while ago, and was very disappointed with my performance in games, it turned out one of my memory sticks was not seated properly and when i fixed that i got around 30 - 40 more fps. Dual channel do matter.

$150 for microcentre to build it? I checked their website and it's actually $250 to include GPU and OS installation. Either way, that's a rip off. At Centrecom in Victoria, it costs $110 AUD or under $70 USD for computer assembly. No tiers of payment based on hardware.
It was $100 USD for a standard build (inc. GPU and OS) in the USA, when bought my PowerSpec there a year ago or so. A shame as that was a decent price at $100 USD, IMO.

Dell is Gateway-ing their new PCs. I don't know if you guys remember gateway, but everything was proprietary. Total BS IMHO.
Dell's being doing this and similar practices for pretty much ever. Definitely recommend more hardware focused prebuilts, or just send em towards companies purely around pre-built PC's. Especially if they're after gaming performance. If they just want a machine, any laptop will do regular or even pretty full-on users perfectly fine. Desktops should only really be for professionals / semi-professionals, and gaming hobbyists nowadays. Laptops are quicker, easier, and often the same price now.
@@VallianceRS laptops typically consume less power as well. Let's understand though that if you're buying a Dell or other OEM you're probably not going to upgrade it yourself.
I think HP did something familiar, with CPU on their prebuilt getting less power.
I just saw Gamer's Nexus about the upcoming push to 12v only PSUs for prebuilt PCs, and the PSU in this video seems to show Dell simply complying with the standards set by California to increase PSU efficiency. Once ATX12V0 is standardized, all the OEMs (not just Dell) are going to shift to the PSU style we see in this Dell G5. It's going to be even more of a pain in the ass to upgrade these prebuilds in the future, but I see two upsides. 1) it's not likely to affect DYI retail parts because ATX12V0 puts pressure off PSU makers and onto motherboard makers, and there is no space on retail motherboard for power regulation shenanigans, and 2) we're going to have a slimmer PSU standard that can be used for custom PC builds.

If you guys want a good prebuilt, I recommend the micro center builds. Not ones they sell but their own brand. I was able to get a Ryzen 5600x and a 3060 for a relatively low price and the rest is pretty normal. Plus, they do a good job at making things customizable in the future. All of that said, building you’re own is definitely the best option if you can get the parts for a reasonable price.

All these achievements, all of the shows you went to just to bring back news to us viewers, all the overtime and all the endless days just for us.

I have an Ibuypower bestbuy prebuilt pic that was actually perfectly constructed as an introductory model for gaming. There are no bottlenecks on the components and the airflow is great. I had a friend that was really in to computers and components and the pc was actually cheaper than anything that he could try to price check. Great purchase honestly. Works better than most of my friends’ computers
I would never recommend an OEM pc for gaming, for the one reason that they are harder to upgrade. A Cyberpower PC with a Ryzen 5 3600 and RX580 would have been cheaper for a mid level gaming rig.
If someone simply wouldn't do that for themself and doesn't have a tech buddy to ask, it's good to know of an OEM that wouldn't leave them stuffed.

Just think. . . 25 years ago, it was much easier to upgrade a pre-built. #1 reason - you didn't have to worry about BIOS updates being pulled permanently from the manufacturer's site.

Windows 7? You guys mean Linux right?
@WindowsLogic Productions Maybe if it was a few years ago but windows 10 has gotten alot better. Plus windows 7 has lost official support from Microsoft and only supports direct x 12 for a few games. So for a gaming PC it's not a ideal OS anymore these days.
@@jasontevepaugh Windows 7 losing official support means nothing unless you're just talking about DirectX 12 implementation and continued support.
@@jasontevepaugh Or you could your finger at game developers for using DirectX12 when they could be using Vulkan. Vulkan runs on not just Windows 7, but also Linux (and Vulkan is one of the rare times Android is included in that), Switch, and I think but am not sure about the Play Station 4. But then again I see games ported from PS4 to PC ending up using DirectX11 so I could be wrong about that. Apple refused to put Vulkan on their platforms, but thankfully the developers behind Vulkan made a MoltenVK wrapper to work around that. DirectX12 on the other hand, only works on Windows 10 and Xbox, and even then it took until 2020 for Microsoft to make the APIs on PC and Xbox the same DirectX12.
This is also exactly why I don't listen to people that say that Linux sucks for gaming; we should be mad at the game developers for not porting their games instead of spreading misinformation about free operating systems.

I really like Riley’s presenting style on this video.
Prebuilds can be good value. Especially when they are deeply discounted & use standard parts. I recently picked up a Lenovo legion tower for a relative bargain. It was the donor for my tests bench and has given me a foundation of parts for many future builds to comes.
pro tip: if you dont want to deal with buying parts and just want to buy system and play, please go to micro center instead..
Not a bad choice, thats 25-50% less performance. That is the definition of bad
buying a prebuilt is always going to cost more if your capable of doing your own research and building your own pc. For a prebuilt, it's not bad.
They took 3 looks at doing the same performance for price and you only get 25% when yiu dont have to buy windows, peripherals or the exact same hardware
