With so much animals in this game, Ægirs are still the most interesting for me. As we all know, aquatic life is as diverse as land life, and with soo much to cover from their physiology to their biology, I guess it's better for HG to make them humanoid with limited physiological traits from their respective species. Also, I noticed that you left out the Abyssal Hunters, maybe because they are an unknown species? Most of them are aquatic mammals (can give birth), so I guess it's better to left that out for the next Abyssal Hunters event story for now.
A pet theory of mine is that the reason Aegireans have little to no animal traits is related to the whole "mystery" surrounding their country and race. Also, just wanted to mention I love how Thorns is a Sea Urchin.

Since Abyssal Hunter is very similar to Hunter from Bloodborne, it could be that they become the superhuman that they are known for through artificial method(injecting stuff into their body). The older Abyssal Hunter maybe so, then they married, produce offsprings which have similar power and curse like their forefathers. Like Hunter in Bloodborne, who will eventually become Beasts that they hunt, so do the Abyssal Hunter become sea abomination that they slay. Unless Arknight have something equivalent of Pureblood.
Judging by her horns, Pallas appears to be based upon a Cape buffalo. Some other unique species basing: Earthspirit seems to be based upon a sable, and Ceobe is specifically based upon a Cerberus.
Cerberus are likely to be Malossian Hound since it was a guard dog for ancient greek. But Ceobe doesn't look like one so she might based on Malosus of Epirus or Cretan hound (look at her ears).
Cows, Bulls, and Camels are even-toed ungulates so it makes sense. That being said, so are sheep and deer so HG just kinda does whatever it wants. It's also funny Anaty wanted to autocorrect into nasty cause that group of animals, mustela, secrete strong smells. Also, a slight correction Savra are based on lizards and newts (and probably geckos and salamanders), since Asbestos is based on a fire belly newt.
It does seem to be at least somewhat arbitrary, though there's also some logic when you look into the evolutionary trees of the animals the races are based on. Deer are in their own distinct family, Cervidae; as for goats and cows, while they're both in the family Bovidae, that family also consists of literally half of all ungulates, so they're also separated into their own subfamilies, Caprinae and Bovinae. The antelope and camel operators *are* a strange case, as they have their own subfamily (Antilopinae) and family (Camelidae), respectively. I guess, considering how large and diverse the ungulate orders are, HG might have decided to lump some families together to keep things simpler.

Since it's been covered in one of the videos this is for those who don't really want to search it up Kazimierz knights have Pegasus on their E2 is because their country is based on Poland. Back then we used to have strong cavalry who were riding with wings (made of actual feathers and wood) attached to saddles. Their legend is now relatively popular in pop culture where you can see those wings on their back. I suggest searching up their history some of the things they did are insane and really comical.
Things I wish you would have mentioned: - Draco appear to have a born affinity for Fire Arts and Draco who use Fire Arts are by default incredibly strong and dangerous, as is briefly mentioned in Chapter 8. - The Abyssal Hunters. A sub-type of Aegir who were experimented on by infusing them with the blood of Seaborns, resulting in them all having very unnatural traits (Such as Skadi's ridiculously low Originium cell count and her absurd physical strength). This was confirmed in the Under Tides event. This comes with a potential risk to turn into a Seaborn if one loses too much control. Skadi Alter is a non-canon example of what would happen if Skadi fully gave in and became a Seaborn. - Mostima is a special case amongst the Sankta as she has both their typical features, but also has horns and a tail befitting the description of a Sarkaz. Adnachiel is also a special case amongst the Sankta because their Halos are usually not tilted like it is with him. - Ursus usually have above-average physical strength, which we can see in most current Ursus operators, such as Rosa and particularily with Gummy, althought Gummy is mentally inhibited from accessing her full strength due to her 'habits'. - Liberi can live very long, as Hellagur is confirmed to be well over 200 years old and still within his midlife range. - Manticore is quite literally invisible to most people. Whether that is a racial trait or just her arts being out of control is up to debate as there is currently no confirmation about it.
I'm not sure about this, but we've yet to see an OP based on insects, the largest group of animals in the entire Animal Kingdom. Could there be any lore implications that explains the lack of insects in Terra? (I won't count Originum Slugs, becuase they look like they belong to Mollusks and Arachnids)

Yeah wouldn't make sense that the only Sarkaz that has a separate animal representation is W as most Sarkaz are just demons. Tho I do find that cockroach does match onto her very well as her story goes so much into the idea of survival on a battlefield, much like a cockroach being so good at surviving (tho W is definitely a lot more dangerous then a cockroach lol).
Thanks for the update production quality raises with every new video you make Speaking of Executor, I read somewhere that he's protected from "the fall" in case he kills other sankta, so maybe his black halo and wings are just covered in black protecting coating? Talulah is cross-breed but identified as Draco so I think despite cross-bred but what they are identify as probably based on which genetic is more dominant in appearance
Another great video! Huge respect to the Sarkaz for still looking like they have baths three times a day even after going through the shit they go. They are my favorite race. Because many flee out of Kazdel, they can be found commonly in Victoria, former parts of Gaul or Columbia. The Shieldguard also talks about he's been having a hard time in the army as a Feline so that goes a long way to see how Ursus may very well just consider their own race superior over others, even a race as common as Felines.
I actually made my own summary of the Arknights races (though it was a text post.) Some additions: Like Tuye the camel being a Forte, some races include things you really wouldn't expect. Marsupials are considered Zalaks for some reason, salamanders are Savra, and mongooses are Felines. The Griffin (bird-lion) and Hippogriff (bird-horse) subraces are classified as Liberi. There are a bizarrely high number of Sarkaz subraces, even beyond the ones you mentioned. The "default" Sarkaz are called Goliaths. Mudrock is a Gargoyle, Logos is a Banshee, and CN content portrays or references everything from liches to Hungarian shapeshifting demons. There's a brief reference to some of the Yeti Squadron being from a race called Elves.
There are so many races in Arknights that I tend to forget the ones that aren't centre-stage in the story, but this video was a genuinely good refresher, and I even learned some new things! Quality content as always ^_^
Siracusa being populated by mainly Vulpos and Lupos, and the fact that a bunch of mafia families fight for power in the country kinda reminded me of realism philosophers. Most notably, the context of state of nature, in which all fight all and one who overcomes by force can be overcome by cunning. Being force the aspect of the wolf and cunning the aspect of the fox, I imagine if it is what they had in mind...

Based off the Rat King and his daughter, the more “furry” you end up being in Arknights seems to be based on genetics/gene expression. So a family that’s more clearly animal like could potentially have a kid that has limited animal traits I actually wonder if this extends to behavior and general physiology as well-at least behavior doesn’t seem to be exactly directly derived from their animal counterparts (Does this mean Silverash has a barbed dick) Also yeah if Ursus are as Russian as they seem then the race came first
Honestly, out of all races i see in fantasy-like worlds, Arknights' Terra is possibly my favorite out of all. Instead of the usual humans like every other fantasy worlds, Arknights flip that script and decide to make their 'Humans' to be half-animal people (or full-animal. While also having Angels, demons, etc). It's a nice change because seeing homo sapien humans in fantasy is just...overused. Respect for Lowlight and Hypergryph for it. at least about cobras - there is already a race for snakes, Pythia. They probably are included into the same race as all cats in Feline race (leopards, lynx, tigers, etc.) with the exception of Aslans
Would like to see Operators based on dinosaurs. My guess is that an Operator based on a T-rex should have a costume based on the civilian outfit of Yamato Tribe Prince Geki (TyrannoRanger), and their partner will be a Draco based on Burai (DragonRanger).
I really like how they handled ears in arknights because they've understoon that a human face without human ears looks wrong and vice versa. type and amount of ears is directly related to level of furryness.
Liberi also appear to be very common in Columbia (which makes sense, since it's based on Eagleland). A lot of AEgir come from Higashi. That thing about female Hyenas is kind of irrelevant because Aardwolves aren't one of those species. Spotted hyenas however very much are, -so it's basically confirmed that Spot has a peen-
Zebras are actually donkeys, and not horses. So Kuranta includes donkeys as well as horses. Which basically confirms that Amiya is a Cautus/Kuranta chimera. In all seriousness, it might actually be that Heavyrain lied about her race, or the writers just made a pretty common mistake.
One sarkaz subspecies you might have forgotten: Banshee Well, while we don't have any artwork whatsoever yet (tfw hg), we have Logos and he's still a huge mystery by far, other than being capable of blocking Rosmontis's destructive powers for himself and others around him.
I think, I heard some information from our china friends, that Sankta are actual Sarkaz, bound by some 'contract' and some sort of shared will. Breaking that contract leads to 'degradation' to normal Sarkaz - for example Executor's halo and wings are turning into black (black is normal for Sarkaz). There is also Mostima with her tail and horns, but she is a special case. Correct me if i'm wrong
I'm still waiting to a follow-up info/event before I debate if thin or thick tails are superior, for example gavial's tail looks rough with a typical crocodile look but Tomimi's tail (besides the thiccness) looks softer in a way and I need to know exactly how much difference it can make both in look and feeling in this debate of thin vs Tomi-I mean THICC. Also is the lower half softer and the top-half harder for all Archosauri?
Here are some interesting Gravel tidbits as I've seen alot of confusion regarding her race: ~ First she is, in fact, a pink prairie dog, not a rat, mouse or hamster. ~ You can see her prairie dog effigy/motif in her E2 art. ~ Her animal features also reflect prairie dog traits, such as the ear shape and tail. ~ Most telling of all is how she kisses Doktah when greeting them. That is a reference to the famous Prairie Dog Kiss that actual prairie dogs do to determine friend or foe. ~ I imagine alot of the confusion surrounding Gravel stems from her Skill 2 being called _"Rat Swarm",_ but that actually has nothing to do with her race and was likely chosen because _"Prairie Dog Swarm"_ sounds funny. I can actually answer why Courier isn't an Elafia! Musk deer are not "true" deer - they, along with genuses like water deer and mouse deer, are classified in their own families, and not with the true deer (elk, moose, caribou, etc). They're called deer in common vernacular because they evolved a very similar body shape, but unlike true deer, they don't grow antlers. Their tusks are instead how males compete with each other.
Ok, so I don't have anyone to tell this too so I'll just put this here and see what happens. To the theory of beagles death, idk what will happen but doberman may be a person. Well, apparently doberman (the dog breed) tends to go a bit crazy in their old age, acting a lot more angry and attacking everything including owners. Idk if this puts anything on that theory but even if that doesnt, if arknights animals follow their real life counterpart then we may have a problem from doberman

I am pretty sure there's never any implication of issues with it, beyond local/cultural issues like the incredibly racist and seemingly almost xenophobic distaste of some Ursus citizens for other races. A few of the operators with wildly different races have obvious romantic interest in the doctor, who is unlikely to be any of their species. No one cared in the slightest about Talulah's father if not for the fact that he was a Victoria defector in hiding and that the Yen Emperor really loves screwing Wei over. In any of these cases, there's essentially no implication of any taboo. I am pretty sure Heidi and that Victorian Noble from the party in the County at the house of Lord Vincent are not felines either, but they wouldn't have minded a piece of Kal'tsit and nobody seemed surprised by it.
So, only the Spotted Hyena has that...interesting feature of their bodies. Beanstalk is an Aardwolf Hyena. So no worries! Also, thin tails are better. Because whatever kind of tail Gavial has is best!
The doctor is a human who is probably related to Nuh (Noah) and is collecting (recruiting)every race possible. That is my theory why we have the name Arknights.

Musk deer aren’t deer that’s why courrier is not grouped with them. Musk deer are a different branch of animal under the pecora infraorder the different branch are moschovidae (musk deer), cervidae( deer, elk, caribou), bovidae(cow,sheep,antelope and a lot of other thing) and giraffidae( giraffe duh and some sort of deer with very peculiar horn). The fact that camel isn’t separated make no sense at all since they have nothing to do with bull and cow and at this point it’s like comparing cow with cetacean which is an inter choice tbh
My guess is that there are races in Higashi based on Yokai (would like to see a Liberi sub-race based on tengu (my guess is that they will be ninjas) and races based on kappa, yuki-onna, nurikabe, and noppera-bo).

In Arknights there are "Human" with some animal body parts, and there are “Ancient” populace, furries, and there are "god" populace, pure animal who can act like human, the 3 birds, Emperor(2 Pac penguin), High Priest and the duck from fungi mist.
Some of them can transform between animal and human, Liberi can transform their upper limbs between Human hand and birdwings, you can see this with Silence a lot.
I think suzu is from a subrace of vulpo's called kitsune/kumiho(mythological fox from japan/korea that has more than one tail and the more tails they have the stronger they are)

Things I wish you would have mentioned:
- Draco appear to have a born affinity for Fire Arts and Draco who use Fire Arts are by default incredibly strong and dangerous, as is briefly mentioned in Chapter 8.
- The Abyssal Hunters. A sub-type of Aegir who were experimented on by infusing them with the blood of Seaborns, resulting in them all having very unnatural traits (Such as Skadi's ridiculously low Originium cell count and her absurd physical strength). This was confirmed in the Under Tides event. This comes with a potential risk to turn into a Seaborn if one loses too much control. Skadi Alter is a non-canon example of what would happen if Skadi fully gave in and became a Seaborn.
- Mostima is a special case amongst the Sankta as she has both their typical features, but also has horns and a tail befitting the description of a Sarkaz. Adnachiel is also a special case amongst the Sankta because their Halos are usually not tilted like it is with him.
- Ursus usually have above-average physical strength, which we can see in most current Ursus operators, such as Rosa and particularily with Gummy, althought Gummy is mentally inhibited from accessing her full strength due to her 'habits'.
- Liberi can live very long, as Hellagur is confirmed to be well over 200 years old and still within his midlife range.
- Manticore is quite literally invisible to most people. Whether that is a racial trait or just her arts being out of control is up to debate as there is currently no confirmation about it.

I'm not sure about this, but we've yet to see an OP based on insects, the largest group of animals in the entire Animal Kingdom. Could there be any lore implications that explains the lack of insects in Terra? (I won't count Originum Slugs, becuase they look like they belong to Mollusks and Arachnids)
True! So far there hasn’t been any mention of insect based characters, not even of any insect based fantasy animals (since as you said, there’s Crabs, Spiders and Slugs, yet no Insects)
W is (from what I've heard and Understand) based on a cockroach, so they may get grouped in Sarkaz in the future.

Yeah wouldn't make sense that the only Sarkaz that has a separate animal representation is W as most Sarkaz are just demons. Tho I do find that cockroach does match onto her very well as her story goes so much into the idea of survival on a battlefield, much like a cockroach being so good at surviving (tho W is definitely a lot more dangerous then a cockroach lol).

Talulah is cross-breed but identified as Draco so I think despite cross-bred but what they are identify as probably based on which genetic is more dominant in appearance

Huge respect to the Sarkaz for still looking like they have baths three times a day even after going through the shit they go. They are my favorite race. Because many flee out of Kazdel, they can be found commonly in Victoria, former parts of Gaul or Columbia.
The Shieldguard also talks about he's been having a hard time in the army as a Feline so that goes a long way to see how Ursus may very well just consider their own race superior over others, even a race as common as Felines.
I actually made my own summary of the Arknights races (though it was a text post.) Some additions:
Like Tuye the camel being a Forte, some races include things you really wouldn't expect. Marsupials are considered Zalaks for some reason, salamanders are Savra, and mongooses are Felines.
The Griffin (bird-lion) and Hippogriff (bird-horse) subraces are classified as Liberi.
There are a bizarrely high number of Sarkaz subraces, even beyond the ones you mentioned. The "default" Sarkaz are called Goliaths. Mudrock is a Gargoyle, Logos is a Banshee, and CN content portrays or references everything from liches to Hungarian shapeshifting demons.
There's a brief reference to some of the Yeti Squadron being from a race called Elves.
Would like to see Sarkaz subraces based on zombies and mummies in the future (my guess is that there should be a mummy Sarkaz named Osiris or Atum).
Maybe Courrier was separated because of the natural ´´perfume´´ he has. Just like bluepoison was separated from the aegirians because of her poison

Based off the Rat King and his daughter, the more “furry” you end up being in Arknights seems to be based on genetics/gene expression. So a family that’s more clearly animal like could potentially have a kid that has limited animal traits

Honestly, out of all races i see in fantasy-like worlds, Arknights' Terra is possibly my favorite out of all. Instead of the usual humans like every other fantasy worlds, Arknights flip that script and decide to make their 'Humans' to be half-animal people (or full-animal. While also having Angels, demons, etc). It's a nice change because seeing homo sapien humans in fantasy is just...overused. Respect for Lowlight and Hypergryph for it.

Would like to see Operators based on dinosaurs. My guess is that an Operator based on a T-rex should have a costume based on the civilian outfit of Yamato Tribe Prince Geki (TyrannoRanger), and their partner will be a Draco based on Burai (DragonRanger).
I really like how they handled ears in arknights because they've understoon that a human face without human ears looks wrong and vice versa. type and amount of ears is directly related to level of furryness.
Liberi also appear to be very common in Columbia (which makes sense, since it's based on Eagleland).

Well, while we don't have any artwork whatsoever yet (tfw hg), we have Logos and he's still a huge mystery by far, other than being capable of blocking Rosmontis's destructive powers for himself and others around him.

I think, I heard some information from our china friends, that Sankta are actual Sarkaz, bound by some 'contract' and some sort of shared will. Breaking that contract leads to 'degradation' to normal Sarkaz - for example Executor's halo and wings are turning into black (black is normal for Sarkaz).
There is also Mostima with her tail and horns, but she is a special case.
Correct me if i'm wrong
I'm still waiting to a follow-up info/event before I debate if thin or thick tails are superior, for example gavial's tail looks rough with a typical crocodile look but Tomimi's tail (besides the thiccness) looks softer in a way and I need to know exactly how much difference it can make both in look and feeling in this debate of thin vs Tomi-I mean THICC.
Also is the lower half softer and the top-half harder for all Archosauri?

Here are some interesting Gravel tidbits as I've seen alot of confusion regarding her race:
~ First she is, in fact, a pink prairie dog, not a rat, mouse or hamster.
~ You can see her prairie dog effigy/motif in her E2 art.
~ Her animal features also reflect prairie dog traits, such as the ear shape and tail.
~ Most telling of all is how she kisses Doktah when greeting them. That is a reference to the famous Prairie Dog Kiss that actual prairie dogs do to determine friend or foe.
~ I imagine alot of the confusion surrounding Gravel stems from her Skill 2 being called _"Rat Swarm",_ but that actually has nothing to do with her race and was likely chosen because _"Prairie Dog Swarm"_ sounds funny.

I can actually answer why Courier isn't an Elafia! Musk deer are not "true" deer - they, along with genuses like water deer and mouse deer, are classified in their own families, and not with the true deer (elk, moose, caribou, etc). They're called deer in common vernacular because they evolved a very similar body shape, but unlike true deer, they don't grow antlers. Their tusks are instead how males compete with each other.
Ok, so I don't have anyone to tell this too so I'll just put this here and see what happens.
To the theory of beagles death, idk what will happen but doberman may be a person. Well, apparently doberman (the dog breed) tends to go a bit crazy in their old age, acting a lot more angry and attacking everything including owners. Idk if this puts anything on that theory but even if that doesnt, if arknights animals follow their real life counterpart then we may have a problem from doberman
It would be pretty interesting if they would go as far as completely basing a character‘s behaviour on the animal counterpart ngl!

I am pretty sure there's never any implication of issues with it, beyond local/cultural issues like the incredibly racist and seemingly almost xenophobic distaste of some Ursus citizens for other races. A few of the operators with wildly different races have obvious romantic interest in the doctor, who is unlikely to be any of their species. No one cared in the slightest about Talulah's father if not for the fact that he was a Victoria defector in hiding and that the Yen Emperor really loves screwing Wei over. In any of these cases, there's essentially no implication of any taboo. I am pretty sure Heidi and that Victorian Noble from the party in the County at the house of Lord Vincent are not felines either, but they wouldn't have minded a piece of Kal'tsit and nobody seemed surprised by it.

Musk deer aren’t deer that’s why courrier is not grouped with them. Musk deer are a different branch of animal under the pecora infraorder the different branch are moschovidae (musk deer), cervidae( deer, elk, caribou), bovidae(cow,sheep,antelope and a lot of other thing) and giraffidae( giraffe duh and some sort of deer with very peculiar horn). In Arknights there are "Human" with some animal body parts, and there are “Ancient” populace, furries, and there are "god" populace, pure animal who can act like human, the 3 birds, Emperor(2 Pac penguin), High Priest and the duck from fungi mist.
Some of them can transform between animal and human, Liberi can transform their upper limbs between Human hand and birdwings, you can see this with Silence a lot.
