ODB is one of my favorite artists, that man was pure art. To me he embodies what a genuine honest artist is, just pure raw expression on what he feels like. No rules, no boxes to check, nothing to preceed, no structure to follow, just a flow of his gut instincts and feelings.
@@JakeAllen3 Shimmy shimmy ya is his most famous single, but Brooklyn Zoo, Nigga Please, Hippa To Da Hoppa, or anything off of his first album Return To The 36 Chambers, good luck bro hope you find ODB to be as great as I do.
"Hey Anthony, what are you listening to?" "Oh, just this ODB record". Wow! I love the Wu-Tang Clan, and the ODB. What album are you listening to? "The second ODB record".
I've been saying this for years. ODB easily had the most original sound and flow of any Wu-Tang member. I've been on the fence about subscribing to your channels, but this won me over. Well done sir.
Anthony, feeling the need to explain why he has a physical cd laying aroundMe- suddenly questioning whether or not i should feel ashamed of the giant stacks of cds in my room
CDs serve a great archival purpose, and if you get original pressings, then it kind of makes them collectible. But yeah. Nobody but my close friends and family know that I've got a CD collection. If I'm talking to somebody I'm just acquainted with, I'll only mention my record collection. CDs aren't "retro" enough to be considered cool, and they hold none of the convenience of modern portable tech, so they're just kind of caught in an awkward limbo.
Mostly I keep them around because if the digital rips of get corrupted, that's my backup. Stuff I've bought digital to begin with I can always redownload, but that old cd hardcopy of an obscure bluegrass or punk album probably isn't gonna be so easy to replace.
Yeah having music in physical is just so satisfying and relieving. It's like how people don't like reading from tablets, like you gotta run the record or play on a cd player or it isn't the same
Im the O-D-B as you can see FBI don’t you watching me I don’t want to no problems cuz I’ll put u down In the ground where you cannot be found I’m just DIRT DOG trying to make some money So give me ma my streaks and give ma honeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaayyyyyyy Still remember it respect the OG ODB
I agree it was ahead of it's time. It's my favorite record of his. It's also a slow descent into madness. He had Chris Rock open the record up before Talib had Chappelle. He was also the first to rush the stage after not winning an award and pulling what is now referred to as a "Kanye" "Y'all give me all this money of course I'm gonna smoke crack” -ODB
Really sad he's gone, I've been listening to odb and thinking that a lot of artists today are just continuing what he started and never finished and what could have been
ODB's freakishness transcends into artful absurdism. None can match the level of character with technical ability. Raps on some of my favorite beats of all time as icing on the cake 🎂
ODB had many dope verses on Wu-Tang Clan's albums. His own Return to the 36 Chambers, Nigga Please, Osirus, & A Son Unique are all worth a listen, especially his debut for its gritty dark beats, erratic flows, and clever unpredictable rhymes.
Let's be honest: anyone who cares about music and considers themselves "collectors" should never have to apologize or explain owning CD's. Unless a person has the loot to buy an audiophile-grade record player & system (& put in the hours to fine-tune & maintain said set-up) let's admit the reality that compact discs sound good on even inexpensive players. I for one sometimes purposefully choose the CD format; especially for ambient / drone / modern classical albums. When I'm drifting off to sleep I really dislike having to get outta bed to flip an LP (Stars of the Lid are a perfect example.. hard to lose yourself in the ambient bliss if you gotta flip sides & even change platters mid-session). Just my two cents. And regarding ODB (or Dirt McGirt): "Cocaine is a hellava drug," indeed. What a character! The important take-a-way from ODB's death: Never take shitty tramadol to come down from a binge. Wu Tang Forever Edit: Quotation marks added
I personally believe that ODB was "better" than Pac and Big. Guy was on another level and mentality. Psh, and being a Master of that raw Brooklyn Shaolin Style flow? Na, you can't fuck with him when it comes to freestyles or even written. "My Tiger style is better than your Kung Fu, admit it..Hahaha" - Pai Mei
FINALLY A GOOD OPINION. I feel like ODB is MASSIVELY underrated. he was ahead of his time, if you think about his crazy style and flows, ad libs, and general antics, even his hairstyle seems reminiscent of modern "sound cloud" niggas and shit 🤔🤔he better than "sound cloud" niggas of course, but just think about what I'm saying
Return to 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version is one of my favorite Wu solo albums. Raw Hide, Dirty Dancin', Goin' Down, Shimmy Shimmy Ya, Brooklyn Zoo, all amazing songs. Gonna go listen to Nigga Please after watching this, thanks for the recommendation. Dude was so fucking undefined. A lot of rappers are trapped in a box, ODB smashed the box.
Excellent album, I completely agree. The first time i listened to this album I thought it was one of the most experimental rap albums that I've ever heard, and that most conventional rap fans would hate it, but for me 10/10. YOUAINTIMMITATINMEONTHISFUCKINTAPE
I was just listening to this album a few days ago. It's easier to digest now because I've heard so much weird shit since I first heard the album years ago. Definitely ahead of it's time.
ODB was ahead of his time through his entire career. Way before dudes without talent tried to act like theyre all crazy and silly and shit ODB was doing it while bring genuine and actually spitting.
I feel like this album is a prime example of going all the way in. And also if your gonna sing and you aren’t really that good of a singer... make it entertaining, make it interesting. Shoutout to Wale.
I really loved this album and it surprised me to hear that many people thought this album was trash. Imo it's the best album from any Wu member, it's so weird and amazing
Bro, you hit all the right points of this record to a T! The only other rapper who comes remotely close to the insane genius of this is Bizarre from D12. Just a little bit! But N Please will always be a one of one! And Baby I Got Your Money was the first of many songs with Neptunes on the track, Kelis on the hook! Like you said, well ahead of the curve, as that was a hot as hell combination throughout the early 2000s!
I had a lot of CDs back in the day too, but A) it was stuff I never listened to anymore and B) I didn’t have anywhere to listen to them anymore. So I just had to throw them away because they were taking up too much space and getting dusty
Versace Pancakes I hear ya wu tang was one of those groups they had something for everyone because they had so many members I mean I love ghostface and method man too and they cubby dude from cream I can’t spell his name
for some reason the playlist link in the dbox doesn't work, so try it here: ruclips.net/video/AmSLen4xjhk/видео.html&ab_channel=JTizzle
Damn Anthony your opinions are just so good wow damn like whew... fr tho nice work
This doesn't work either,
Why you no link the explicit version, though?
fantano im very inspired by odb he’s a godfater
Talk about your glasses... melon eyes
ODB was insane while trying to be sane, while the underground soundcloud game is sane rappers trying to be insane.
Brandon DiMichele very nicely put 👏
I wouldn't say that sound cloud rappers are sane but ill agree that they're try hards.
Very well put!
lotta these soundcloud guys are very mentally ill lol not that it’s a good thing tho
Same as Superman and Clark Kent Theory from Kill bill
this comment is so ahead of its time that I haven't even finished the video yet
A+++
Comment inspired by Big L?
osvaldo hernandez so far ahead of my time, my parents haven’t met yet-what!

he was special and very humble, i even used to run into him at the weed spots in bklyn...lol
ODB is my all time favorite MC. He's so slurred and grungy it makes me wanna take a shower after listening to the album.
Hoober Mcgoober Sonic Grime.

"The second ODB record".
ODB was one of the most innovative rappers of all time he was singing before it was cool
Santi Barrios Mos Def been on it but yeah ODB was nice with it
Jason Harvey ODB goes back before Mos Def tho
Also he was purposely singing off tone and or beat before it was cool
Biz markie tho
AQGOAT24 good point. I never even put that influence together, and I feel ashamed.
I'm blind Anthony. What's the album called? Say it in a video
Um bkkms sbtmny. Whays thr alnum balled? Sat ut ib ybw boawo*

TheMellowSavage I don’t get it :(
Sefe Avila *Goteem*
BingeThinner I’m glad someone pointed out that grammatical error, it was killing me.
People talk so much ODB but don't give Busta Rhymes enough credit when it comes to crazy ass 90's MC's
When I read the title I thought he was gonna go with a busta project
Oscar Francis because ODB died we only respect people and give credit when they die get with the program
facts bro I feel like most people only know busta for his pop rap features in the 2000s but sonically and visually he was definitely ahead of the wave
MIKE MILLIONS Busta Rhymes first album is dope.
Extinction Level Event is fucking amazing.
Thanks for staying hydrated fam. Keep it up.
I've been saying this for years. ODB easily had the most original sound and flow of any Wu-Tang member. I've been on the fence about subscribing to your channels, but this won me over. Well done sir.
P.S. His first album was just as bombastic and experimental.
Anthony, feeling the need to explain why he has a physical cd laying aroundMe- suddenly questioning whether or not i should feel ashamed of the giant stacks of cds in my room
CDs are great !
I still have a CD player in my car so I just use it. This car was made in 2012. 😐

The funny thing is the FBI actually did have a file on him, which makes that bar even crazier.
What's the album title, Anthony? Why didn't you name the album?
LOL He just can't say the word. I was half expecting him to call it "Real ones" Please.
It’s against his religion

The second half of ODB's solo discography

Got yo money is one of my favorite rap songs of all time.
ODB was my favorite wu tang member
Suicide King mine will always be GFK but ODB was definitely one of the most unique and original rappers EEVEEEER.
Versace Pancakes I hear ya wu tang was one of those groups they had something for everyone because they had so many members I mean I love ghostface and method man too and they cubby dude from cream I can’t spell his name
Suicide King Raekwon the Chef
Alpha a thank you I knew his name just couldn’t spell it appreciate it
Got Your Money was a massive hit in the UK too, where I grew up.
His cover of good morning heartbreak where he's yelling in the background still makes me laugh
even though he's beloved, he's kind of underrated. There's a good amount of unreleased and demo stuff that reveal his greatness
I remeber how diferent this album was from the rest of the other wu projects, but is was enjoyable, great video
100 percent 1 of a kind record. Nothing else like it. A definite work of raw art.
Make this a series!
Rza x ODB kiss of the black widow was pretty fckin wild
pls make the beatles: worst to best
Facts honestly. It would have been great to see what a 3rd album would have matured into had he been able to get himself together. RIP O.D.B

Thank you, the bastard needs recognition
