Great video! Thanks for taking so much time to “test” the airtag in stalker scenarios. I agree, it would be great if Apple and Google could collaborate on this (to prevent airtags from being used as stalking mechanisms).
It should IMMEDIATELY get notified of a near AirTag, not after 5min, not after 30min, not after 2hrs. It's very bad if it has such a long delay, even tho the person who is stalking you already got your position, you get notified after 1hr. SO BAD.
Let us keep in mind, that stalking is not the regular case when it comes to Airtag tracking. After my bag or bike gets stolen, I want to get it back. For this case, I really hope, that the thief gets NOT notified that I know the position of my item! A thief has no privacy rights..
@Asma Sososo this might be true, but stalking happens more infrequent than theft. You cant stop selling knives, because it sometimes happens that somebody gets stabbed. Yes but apple is a lot more powerful with the airtag. There are billions of Iphones out there and this would allow for a better way to track someone. Plus the size factor and low power it takes to power this airtag is a game changer. Not only this but the ease of use makes them really nice for anyone to understand. Also you can take the speaker out really easy and this even makes them harder to find. I think these airtags have a huge advantage to a regular tracker like tile or any other name brands out there.
The ‘significant locations’ thing is quite literally written on the AirTag page on Apple’s website! And it uses this and/or duration of contact (which is possibly why you received it). Home is just one of many ‘significant locations’ stored on your iPhone - See: Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Significant Locations

Excellent video with a well-done experiment. When you returned home after your walks, the AirTag probably did a Bluetooth synch with the owner’s iPhone (your wife), and that may have reset the tracking timer. I think the experiment with your friend is more valid. None the less, you were notified 50 minutes into your second walk. I don’t know how long it has been since the AirTag was in the vicinity of your wife. My guess is Apple intentionally left things vague (“after a while…”), so they have the flexibility to make adjustments after lots of people use AirTags for a while. The thing is you have only been notified you are being tracked because you have an iphone. It won’t work if you don’t have an iphone. This also means that if someone has stolen an item or found your lost item with at tag that person will be able to disable it!
Exactly. That’s what I’m saying also 🙂. The iPhone is the best stalking protection device if that is of your concern. And if you don’t have an iPhone I’m the AirTag will ping any time after 72 hours. Thanks for your support!

Thank you so much Surender Mohan. Just want to tell you that I really appreciate what you wrote. You just made my day! Thanks and that’s for your support!
Interesting. Let’s say someone stole your bag or bicycle with an AirTag on it and it travelled with them for a while and they got this notification, they would just take the battery out as instructed. What we need to know is, if the AirTag has been put in lost mode, does it still give these same notifications after a while or not. The owner may not always be in a position to get out and physically track it as they could be asleep or too far away etc. Any chance you could test this for us? So does Lost Mode stop these notifications or not because if it doesn’t it would defeat the object if it is going to notify a thief that they are being tracked and show them how to disable it.
Correct. The lost mode only makes it possible for anyone that finds the AirTag to hold it close to your phone to identify it. We have to remember the purpose of the AirTag to be a thing that helps you to find your keys and other belongings, not an anti theft system… :)
Awesome, I just saw a video showing how somebody was tracked without their knowledge, and I was wondering how the heck we're to know if we have been tagged into an air-tracker? And then Bam 💥 your video popped up right after it. Good timing thank you very much. ✌️😊 💙 👍 Yes the wooden house is amazing but what isn't amazing, the fire should one start, being it's all wooden. 😲🤷 p.s.-- I'm watching you from California USA--
It’s a fine line to walk for any item finding company, to reduce the unwanted and optimize the wanted. The no1 purpose is to find your stuff that you can’t remember where you put. Like your keys… not to track things or people, nor to theft protect your items, for that there are a lot better products available, like the SPOT Trace for example: tacngear.se/collections/all/products/spot-trace
This is a stupid update now if say someone steals my motorcycle that I’ve fitted with an airtag my airtag beeps and notifies the thief’s that there’s an airtag and they can go ahead and disable it, making you locating your lost/stolen property a slim to none chance
That can definitely be true. But we have to try to remember the purpose of the AirTag. It was never meant to be a vehicle tracker. But the fact that it a can be used for that purpose is just a bonus. I would recommend a product like GenSpot for vehicle tracking. Thanks for watching!
Perfect work . But I still didn’t get it : if you set your AirTag as LOST , will the thief be notified ? My bagpack was stolen and the bastard removed and throwed the AirTag … I didn’t know how to react .
You can’t be “stalked” by your WIFE. Lolololo😂😂😂. Oooops…yes. “Can I Be Charged for Stalking My Spouse? The short answer is yes. Even if you are married to the victim, if you engage in behavior that is classified as stalking, you may still be prosecuted under PC Section 646.9.”
That’s because it only does it if you aren’t around the owners phone .. if you return to your house with her there then the tag won’t notify you because it’s with you and the owner
Thanks for making this video. I'm trying to figure out the suitability of AirTags for tracking stolen items, like a bike or a bike trailer. You seem to briefly mention that it is suitable for that purpose, but I'm not sure. Opinions on the net seem to diverge, but all comments/reviews I've seen so far are rather superficial. So, I'm really glad that you take pride in going one step further than most people and actually figure stuff out since the devil seems to be in the details here. The suitability for tracking a stolen item obviously depends on a number of assumptions and I wonder whether you have gathered enough evidence to say something about this. First, we obviously need to assume that the thief has an iPhone that detects stalking, which means that they will be notified of the tag if they carry the stolen item with them for about 50 minutes (perhaps later, but we need to assume the worst case). Second, I would not assume that the thief remains with the bike or bike trailer for so long. They will probably store it away somewhere and probably not in their apartment, but rather in their basement, back yard or garage. Which means that their phone will make contact with the airtag every now and then or perhaps it would do so regularly whenever they're at home, but obviously not when they're out and about (unless they're using the bike). In the case of a bike trailer, I would assume that it is stolen not for own use but to sell it. So, the question is: what are the chances that the thief will be notified about the air tag and deactivate it? What do you think?
I got a Chipolo One Spot tracker that I took apart and re-shaped into a much smaller shape (about the size of a water bottle cap but 9mm thin with a 3D printed case) and put it on a cat collar to be able to track my outdoor cat. Wont be real-time, but I will at least know where he is if he is taken into a different home or something bad happened a couple streets over. Chipolo One Spot does not beep after 3 days of not being near the paired iPhone too so it will prevent any unwanted beeps. It works with Android, you just have to go to the FindMy website
I know nothing about air tags but I got notified that an unknown air tag was tracking me . What do I do to stop it from tracking me .....I have an android btw
Its funny - I have no idea what the AirTag does or why you are trying to get a notification, but I’m still watching your videos as it’s an exiting movie…
Consider this test in a different situation. Let's say YOU stole a backpack with an AirTag. After 51 minutes the AirTag alerts you that the owner can see your location and gives you instructions on how to disable the AirTag. If the owner marks the AirTag as lost, will it still notify the person like they are being tracked?
In optimal situations that would most likely happen, yes. Lost doesn’t change that. It just make it possible for the “finder” to identify the AirTag. I went thorough that in my other AirTag video. Thanks for stopping by 👊🏼😊
The AirTag might have triggered if the owner is actively watching your location thus sending the warning.. just check your person before leaving any place so you won’t know that someone may have a slipped a tracker

I'm sorry and I don't want to offend anyone but the idea of the tracked person needs to get home to get notified is the stupidest idea, if I'm getting stalked I wanna know it as fast possible so I don't go home (or in a dark street or wood) where something can happen to me or the stalker knows where I live, I wanna go to the police or throw it away

I live in a strange part of the planet where we have a carjacking once every few days. After seeing your video, I might try putting TWO AirTags hidden in my car (after removing the speakers). If one gets disabled, the second one might continue working for a while longer. (Or cause enough confusion that the person may not realize immediately that there are two of them.)

Germany! So nice to have you here! Just working hard on my best video ever! I’m sorry to say it’s another AirTag one, but this time I have taken it a little bit cinematic 😃. I hope to see you here again.
It is 3 days or if you think you are in danger of being tracked you can look on find my and it will find any tags close to you but if you have an air tag not yours following you its 3 days(nvm they fixed it after tons of complaints to 50 min then if you are meant to have it you can disable it)
It’s not working because when you get home, it’s connects back to your wife’s phone thus the AirTag doesn’t worn you. And it take 8 or more hours before it warns you
I silenced speaker in thick silicone and welded secret pocket into my ebike and even if thief founds it it is ultra hard to remove, amplified Bluetooth antenna too.
Nice work - what a pity that we need to reverse-engineer these things - indeed it would be nice to have the discussion out in the open Apple- and Google-supported!

It’s home or a significant location (somewhere that you’ve been before 2-3times). So it could be the reason you got the notification because you walked pass a significant location
My own air tags randomly chirp! Is my wife logging in my apple acct and using them to track me? Why else would they randomly chirp? They’re pretty new/battery is NOT low. And it’s very random when I hear it.
15:11 - yes!! Android + iOS together would be great!! And unfortunately *Anti-Stalker feature* will be not good when it comes to securing your Bike and other goods if you intend to use as theft protection / Tracking! 11:17 - Thieves will be alerted and will know how to disable the tag!! 😐😐😐
I would prefer to see where that bike is and to get it back. If that alert can make that happen, then I’m happen. There is a reason for alarms…. They scare the ones that are not nice….

You should redo this test with the latest firmware update.
I’m a Kellerman too. Sweden huh? I thought our Kellerman name was/is German.
I’m wondering if locations services turned “ON” on your iPhone ?
Or is it getting your location from near by devices?
Good insight non the less, and we thank you for that Mats.
It is turned on. Everything was turned on. 😃

This is a great video and very useful as well. Putting these Airtags into practical test is the best way to understand how it really works. I really love the way you show the different places in your city. Wish to explore Stockholm in near future. Thanks for the upload. Keep it coming
Thank you so much Surender Mohan. Just want to tell you that I really appreciate what you wrote. You just made my day!

✌️😊 💙 👍
Yes the wooden house is amazing but what isn't amazing, the fire should one start, being it's all wooden. 😲🤷
p.s.-- I'm watching you from California USA--
Doesn’t this defeat the entire purpose of finding a stolen item? I mean, if it notifies the person that they are being tracked with a stolen item?
Your phone already track you for your government so whats the fuzz with the airtag???
You can’t be “stalked” by your WIFE. Lolololo😂😂😂. Oooops…yes. “Can I Be Charged for Stalking My Spouse? The short answer is yes. Even if you are married to the victim, if you engage in behavior that is classified as stalking, you may still be prosecuted under PC Section 646.9.”
That’s because it only does it if you aren’t around the owners phone .. if you return to your house with her there then the tag won’t notify you because it’s with you and the owner
I use mine with my keys. I lost my keys a couple times and I don’t want that anymore!!! Will it work?
I really think so. Seem to be a solid working product. I trust my keys to be found by an AirTag also 🙂
Thanks for making this video.
Battery Tips on iPhone Pls
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don’t that will happen. I’m not much into that topic unfortunately.
Thank you got your support!
Lol thank you so much! I warms my heart 😃
Now that I have an iphone 13 I consider removing the speaker from all my airtags.......
This suck for people putting these in their motorcycles the thieves will get notified too soon.
Thanks for stopping by 👊🏼😊
There are so many articles and videos on this but NONE of them give the information you’re providing - *which is what we need*. THANK YOU!!
The AirTag might have triggered if the owner is actively watching your location thus sending the warning.. just check your person before leaving any place so you won’t know that someone may have a slipped a tracker
I’m very confident to say that watching its position will not affect the notification. Have tried that a lot.
Thank for your support!
The wife response “DND” 🙁
I even get notified when I am followed by my OWN airtags
How would the AirTag know whether you’re home? It wouldn’t know your address as you’re not the registered owner of the tag.
Wow this video was really good! btw I'm from Denmark :)
Danmark! Välkommen! Hope you’ll stay for my other videos too 🇸🇪🇩🇰
The Graphic User Interface looks pretty creepy ngl when you see yourself being tracked and all your steps taken.
Ios has it so that any tag can use the air tag so samsung or google could add them to their programs
Wow! This is awesome! I enjoyed the research and extra sightseeing 😄

I’m glad you shared your thoughts. Welcome to the channel!
This could have been a 2 min video. 🤦♂️

Hi James. Thanks for stopping by.
May I ask where you are from?

Nice work. I’m curios while you were doing your walks, if your wife could see your progress/location in real time using the Find My app. Maybe I have watched too many crime shows but I still think there is the opportunity for foul play. As you said Google and Apple should coordinate and allow the stalker notification on iOS versions older than 14.5.
Thanks for your visit!

How come u don’t just drive
This feature is stupid! Makes AirTags useless if thief’s steal your stuff!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭
Now thieves can locate the Tag and disable it. For those who use it to protect their goods against theft, it now becomes useless.
It all depend on the number of pings , the more pings you get the quicker it will notified you that you were been tracked .
Thanks for adding
I'm only 2 minutes into the video, but I've also 'heard' it's 3 days, before notification - and now back to watching the video
Thanks my loyal visitor! 🥳
you have to hack the airtags

Germany! So nice to have you here! Just working hard on my best video ever! I’m sorry to say it’s another AirTag one, but this time I have taken it a little bit cinematic 😃. I hope to see you here again.
if you get home, its connected to your wife iphone again, and should not alert you.
It is 3 days or if you think you are in danger of being tracked you can look on find my and it will find any tags close to you but if you have an air tag not yours following you its 3 days(nvm they fixed it after tons of complaints to 50 min then if you are meant to have it you can disable it)
I have two of these and the chirping alarm goes off automatically even when I’m not looking for these items why is that and how do I stop it?????
It’s not working because when you get home, it’s connects back to your wife’s phone thus the AirTag doesn’t worn you. And it take 8 or more hours before it warns you
I dont get it? Like on my iphone do I need to activate something to see if this is going on? Do I need an app? How does it let ME KNOW? HELP
Those apartments look like modified shipping containers with rustic wood trim modern windows. It’s a current style people are using.
I silenced speaker in thick silicone and welded secret pocket into my ebike and even if thief founds it it is ultra hard to remove, amplified Bluetooth antenna too.
There are so many articles and videos on this but NONE of them give the information you’re providing - *which is what we need*. THANK YOU!!
Nice work - what a pity that we need to reverse-engineer these things - indeed it would be nice to have the discussion out in the open Apple- and Google-supported!
I have a pack of 4 air tags but with my iPhone 8 I don’t get all the tracking functions and the Bluetooth is draining my battery so overall very disappointed
I am Finland
What about if some badass tracking a kid who doesn't have a iphone?!
Have been waiting for this video! Loved it. 😊
Recently received my own AirTag and have been using the U1 function to find my keys.
So sorry for letting you wait!
It is a very useful device that I have attached to almost everything.

Thank you for making these video’s! My husband just bought about 5-6 airtags for our wallets, keys, and our new puppy. It actually helps me to track our 9yr old when she takes the puppy out with her and is out for a while, or she takes the puppy with her when she gets picked up for gymnastics practice. Yes, she really does take the puppy with her to gymnastics for an hour.
now when they become cheaper to produce makes you wonder if they are gonna put these in products in high end dept stores to track shoplifters and car boosters from dealers and like that
I am from San Antonio Tx.

Thank you so much for your support!
Now what happens if the thief got an iPhone and got alerted by thoses notifications and remove the battery from the airtag ?
It’s home or a significant location (somewhere that you’ve been before 2-3times). So it could be the reason you got the notification because you walked pass a significant location
Apple make one believe that the victim of being stalked will be notified immediately.
This is very helpful. I just got that notification but we don’t have any air tags and can’t hear the sound.
That is great if you’re an hour away from home but if you’re not then the stalker/thief knows where you live.
What is it about american culture that obsesses americans about being stalked?🤔
its because it takes three days before it notifies you of airtag stalking you
My own air tags randomly chirp! Is my wife logging in my apple acct and using them to track me? Why else would they randomly chirp? They’re pretty new/battery is NOT low. And it’s very random when I hear it.
Greetings from Australia
That was so nice!
What about Chipolo?
15:11 - yes!! Android + iOS together would be great!!
And unfortunately *Anti-Stalker feature* will be not good when it comes to securing your Bike and other goods if you intend to use as theft protection / Tracking!
11:17 - Thieves will be alerted and will know how to disable the tag!! 😐😐😐
I would prefer to see where that bike is and to get it back. If that alert can make that happen, then I’m happen. There is a reason for alarms…. They scare the ones that are not nice….
So I can stalk someone for 51 mins….good to know’
it will only work, at the location such as home saved with apple cloud.
Apple should not have come out with these
The AirTag helped me to find my stolen bike and where it was, another stolen bike, and more… check out my last video…
