    with the omp delete it is important that you run ignition cut in your tune when off throttle so the premix gets into the rotor when off throttle instead of the usual fuel cut plus you get sick flames so thats a bonus

    Yep, since ya did the half bridge which requires slightly higher RPM to maintain smooth idle and therefore more fuel/air... plenty of heat can be generated. Make sure the turbo and exhaust is well stabilized and sheilded (plenty of options, some can be used in tandem for better effect i.e. Wrap + shield near firewall and footwell to reduce cabin temp and paint discolorations), they WILL move around when you've been allowing the BTU to build up. Lots of rotary owners develop manifold leaks because of the BTU and vibrations. Also helps to have firm motor mounts (not solid per se, just firm)

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  Год назад +4

      Guess I'll be swapping mounts soon 😅
      Everything will be cerakoted + sheikded where possible to try and keep Temps down as much as possible. Might add EGT into the stand alone to watch Temps

    I inherited my FD and sent it to a specialty shop for restoration. They pulled the motor and sent it to another shop for rebuild. Once they got the money for the motor, it sat on their floor and the car sat outside for a year until I repo’d the car from them. I got everything back in those exact black/yellow bins and I have no idea what’s/what. I appreciate seeing you just go at it and figure it out. i’ve been overwhelmed and haven’t even begun to make sense of the pile but this is motivating. Thanks!

  • @rotaryperfection
    @rotaryperfection Год назад +1

    The hoist Rx7 tip. You have to unbolt your upper arm from the hoist and slide forward a few more inches to gain the reach. I do this all the time because the weight of the engjne keeps the arm wedged in the sleeve and from sliding out on the install. Now of course, I wouldn't do that on really heavy engines as the hoist could tip over. Not with a lighter rotary.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  Год назад

      I was super tempted to do this but was a little worried of the arm slipping out, May drill a new hole on the hoist to extend it out a little bit 😅

    I think most folk that mess with rotaries hoist them in over the fender, if I'm remembering correctly, that event happened several years ago when the cars where much newer. I vaguely remember seeing a guy hoist one over the passenger front fender and then wiggle the hoist side to side with his foot to seat the motor to the trans. Not positive since I've slept quite a few nights between then and now, but I believe that was the pro tip for install on those. Take it with whatever sized grain of salt you like, hope the info helps someone, possibly you. ;)

    90% of those parts are cast aluminum.. so what I would do is take an evening with a file, sandpaper, etc and break all the casting flash, hard edges, etc... then glass bead them.
    They will look better than new, and wont suck to work on the engine anymore because of no sharp flash or hard edges.
    Then cerakote everything that needs it... Polish what you want, paint what you want... but the base parts themselves need that cleanup and glass blasting to be really nice.
