Hello Nick nice seeing you taking Franks advise on ladders .Now maybe you might explore those safe area's alittle more and still be safe .p.s. How is the JEEP 🤔
Climbing ladders is always a risk. Sometimes they're in great shape, other times they LOOK like they're great, but in fact are NOT! Ha, oh well, these were okay, and it was fun to explore them. The Jeep is doing...okay'ish. I just got an oil change done on her and found out that there are some leaking seals in various places. Not an immediate problem, but one I'll certainly have to address within the next few months. Bear certainly loves the jeep! Can't keep him out of it. Ha!
Very excited to see your footage at 10:51! That was crazy! I would’ve freaked out, too, seeing that view from where you were. Makes one wonder exactly how deep that mine goes. That was good, effective background music during the ladder descent and ascent. Very curious to see your footage at 18:50, too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ladder next to an ore chute that is blocked like that. They must’ve quit using that particular manway and put a false floor on it at the top of the ladder. The top of the chute was probably covered as well. Interesting, that’s for sure! Terrific video, Nick! 👍
Thanks, Frank! Yeah, that kept going down. Probably anywhere from twenty to sixty more feet! I suspect you're right on the money with the blocked ladder. I just wonder why the didn't bother reusing the ladders somewhere else in the mine. Definitely worth going back to climb these other ones!
Hi Mr 49, it may pay to take some ropes with you in the mine's, all so have extra lights on your helmet, all the best to you and Mrs 49,l do injoy your show.
Your videos are getting better and better. Plus you're taking big risk I salute you in being so brave🫡. But you have to think about Mrs 49er how she feels about that do be careful. 🇺🇲✌️
Thank you for the feedback! Mrs. 49er and I discuss this quite often, and I try my best to be sensitive to the dangers and measure them carefully. Thank you for the reminder to be mindful!
Working on it, but a good lighting setup, especially for video, is not cheap. Feel free to donate to the channel if there's a specific light you'd recommend!

Great ideas, thanks! I do carry rope with me, as well as two extra headlamps, though I only wear one at a time.
You should carry a short rope or paracord. Just a small rope can be a great help.
I typically carry a short 30’ 9mm climbing rope and 50’ of safety orange paracord.
Sometime the dynamite boxes will have dates on them
