This is a great series mark, I’m still keepin it pure as I’m new, but this is definitely gonna happen 😊really beautiful the unique shrimp you get mixing them🙂👍🏻
Awesome video Mark, thanks!!! Exactly what I was asking in my last email. Look forward to seeing your updates. I'm waiting on a bag of substrate then I'll make that order from you. Have a good one!
I put five varieties of shrimps into a five-gallon aquarium (both Neocaridina and Caridina) to create a "Skittles tank" without any concern about breeding. There were crystal reds and crystal blacks, red cherry shrimp, blue dream shrimp, and golden back shrimp. The crystal red shrimp and the crystal black shrimps had babies that looked just like the parents. However, there are about thirty young shrimp in my aquarium now. One is a pretty golden back shrimp, but all of the others reverted back to their natural "wild tiger" coloration and patterns. Some people would freak out about that, but this is just a hobby for me. I am not breeding them for sale. I am actually happy to see it. (Any shrimp I choose not to keep will be fed to a neighbor's fish.) For now, my main goal is simply to learn as much as possible about raising shrimp and aquaculture. Maybe one day I will breed shrimp selectively, but until then I will just let my shrimp be shrimp and I'll be happy with all colors. To me, the natural color shrimp are just as pretty as the brightly colored shrimps.
Yep, I like both. Keeping perfect lines and mixing them together. If I wasnt seriously breeding I would probably have a couple mix tanks and a couple line tanks.
So I'm planning to set up a shrimp and snail breeding tank for profit. I was thinking of breeding blue jellies and red Ramshorn snails as well as selling the extra java moss. Is the blue jelly a successful variant to sell or are there better ones in your opinion? pls let me know your thoughts!
Thats hard for me to say really. Blue jellies are my best selling line, but partially because blue jellies have kind of become my thing with videos and banner on website. The most popular lines are probably reds and blue dreams I would guess. People like blue.
I've seen a couple pop up in the green jade lines, but really rare. Even seen a blue green rili once. When I have more space i will probably start playing around with more of these type of projects. Looking at hopefully building a shrimp shed and garage, but still figuring out logistics of it.
Love the blue shrimps so much! Some time in October I plan on breeding as many cherry shrimp as possible and trading all of my red neos out for as many blue shrimps as possible
Got my order of skittles in from you & 5 of them had golden reflective eyes, that made my day! Now I can start my own special project of breeding these w/ palmata 'Blue Pearl
I agree with others here. This is a great series your doing👍. Definitely waiting for the updates. Question? Looks like a tablet in the reflection if so, what tablet are you using your video is amazing.
hello hello hello! love this video! i mixed neos by accident 5 or 6 years ago and it was fun, got tons of different colours and patterns then they all turned grey, hehe. going to try to create a line of spiderman shrimp if i can, got 10 for now out of my blue dreams, keep up the great work!
Yep, even when you mix them you still gotta pull out the bad ones, you just make way more bad ones lol. I had the blue and red ones pop up years ago here and there when I imported cheap blackroses, lol, I never had a blackrose line, but I had a line that would throw everything, dark blues, bloody marys, every rili color combo pretty much. Also have had my bloody marys pop a couple out, hope to make them on purpose and replicate it lol.
I only just started to breed shrimp in a shrimp only tank several weeks ago, but I wonder if anyone went back to an original wild cherry shrimp line to then try to recreate the selective breeding done in the past so like trying to make a new sakura or fire red line from plain brown shrimp in a converging way to how it was done with the original line.
Man, it takes a long time just to make 1 line. They have been at it in Asia for generations, and most people had never heard of a cherry shrimp until 10 or 15 years ago here in the US. Lots of work with lots of people over decades.
Its a long process! Better do it first in a big scale like yours if you dont want to loose to much time later ! I do it in small 5-10gal scale and i actually have 2 -3 baby blue jelly body red rilli i have to switch in my 10gal tank ready!
Sweet, I every great once in a while will get blue or buish or rilis pop up in my bloody marys. So its there lol, just trying to make it happen. Creating a new line will take years and years Im sure, but its fun to me lol.
YOO I just started this two weeks ago, lesser grade cherries(petco...) need to be culled but got blue dreams because of your advice on breeding I want those Red Blue Rilis! This is my first time with neo's only had ghost. glad to make the jump! put 15 babies in another tank to keep the blue dreams, and i found 20 more the next day!!! So think they're already getting active! Fingers crossed I'm being as anal as I can! CA Hardwater can be a challenge! Not using RO have about 700ppm, but 12gh, 2kh. I have shrimp fit, shrimp baby, and bacter ae. some xtreme aquatics, and hikari been enjoying this!

Will try to remember to do one of these videos at the end of every month.

@@MarkShellyAquatics Thank you so much!
Good update bud, so when are you going to create Green jade rili? I've been trying but no luck yet 😢

Shrimp shed, very nice! Thanks for sharing bud

Wow thank man, really appreciate it. And always super awesome to hear back from happy customers. Glad you are digging the shrimp 😁👍
Thanks again 😁
I hope you make purple shrimp by mixing red and blue.
Unfortunately, it does not work that way, would be cool if it did.
Hey! I am curious did you ever get greenish mutations from the orange shrimps?
Yep, I think in the last video I reset my 40g orange tank I found a couple of really green shrimp.
@@MarkShellyAquatics Great ! Can't wait to see for myself ,maybe start a green jade line on my own thanks alot for the info !😍

My great big galaxy s22 ultra. I take my videos in 4k 60fps. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching 👍

Your table is brilliant! Reminds me of some cross breeding charts in Animal Crossing. 😄
Its not mine, its been floating around the internet for years, does a good job of explaning things I feel
They are incredible.
Thanks 😁👍
👍Thanks. 👋
😁👋
Hello Mark, you should try red jelly 🙃
Red jelly?
@@MarkShellyAquatics mix of fire red or bloody marry with white pearl - or do you get red rili?
Dont think there is a red jelly, or maybe you can create your own and call it what you want. Mix of snowballs and reds could be fun to try.
Love it!!
👍😁👋

You got a colour full tank of shrimp but their babies have low rate of surviving
What are you talking about? Why would you think or say that? All the babies survive.
I'm about to try for royal rilis from bloody Mary's and blue Dreams. May take s grades n up
👍
