a 3-hour episode on David Fincher? THANK YOU!
😬👍🏻
In Orthodox Christianity, despair is considered the eighth deadly sin; this fits with Someset's world-weary attitude to life.
The Social Network is my favorite movie of all time and Fincher is my favorite director! Excellent episode guys
It's his best film! :)
This is one of the best podcasts ever and I can’t believe it hasn’t blown up yet
Welcome aboard and thanks for the kind words 😌
I have been waiting for this one
:)
Great episode guys! Love David fincher. Fight club is one of my all time favorites. In the future I’d love to see you guys go more in depth with mindhunters. One of my favorite series of all time
Yea we’ll cover that one day! Great show
YES! David Fincher is awesome. Zodiac and and social network are both in my top 10 movies ever!
Let's goooooooooooooo
Can't believe I found this youtube channel from the for you page on tiktok. Great gem of a channel, looking forward to seeing the channel grow
Thanks for checking out the full show 🙌🏻
Howard Shore also scored The Silence of the Lambs (1991), another film about a serial killer.
Brad Pitt fell while filming the scene in which Mills chases John Doe in the rain. Pitt's arm went through a car windshield, requiring surgery. The accident was worked into the script. Coincidentally, the original script called for Detective Mills to be injured during the sequence.
Thank you for including time stamps! I hate skipping your segments but I want to watch the movies first!!! Keep up the awesome content!
You're welcome Brennan!! Thanks so much
Love the new mics and headphones sounds amazing
Thanks Drew! Big upgrade!!!
Best director working in mainstream films atm.
👏👏
I’ve been waiting a long time for this and boy I am excited
Same!!!!
Titled "Se7en", the film runs for 127 minutes long, and the 35mm prints are made up of 7 reels.
David Fincher wanted the credits to look like a killer had written them.
This was the seventh highest grossing film of 1995.
Brad Pitt earned $7 million for starring in this film.
In the climax scene, Somerset sees the box and runs back in horror. John Doe has revealed his final plan to Mills. In this scene, we see Mills going through all stages of Grief namely, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.
Although he's considered a "serial killer" throughout the movie and in movie history in general, the John Doe character only kills two people for their sins (although there's no doubt he's directly responsible for all the deaths). He kills the obese man (gluttony) and the lawyer (greed). The prostitute (lust) is killed by a customer, the model (pride) kills herself rather than be disfigured, and the sloth victim survives, although he'd probably prefer to die. Envy (John Doe himself) is shot by Detective Mills. The wrath victim is Detective Mills, he also survives.
So technically, John Doe actually kills only two people for their sins. He also kills Tracy and her unborn baby, but not for any sins they've committed.
FWW Alien War wasn’t just in Glasgow. There was one in London’s Trocadero in the 90s. I went when I was 13. Bloody terrifying tbh
So cool!
When I was younger I never realized how many great films this man has done. He is one of the best, the way he tells a story he grabs you and he does a great job of making you put your self in the shoes of the protagonist.
Watching fight club in recent years, I related so much to the narrorator. Caring about worthless things, busting my tail for someone else's wallet. This movie opened my eyes and was a big reason I changed a lot of aspects of my life. Now only material possessions I really care about are my Blu rays and the devices to play em on lol.
This was one of the most thorough break downs I've ever seen worth the length of this video. Fincher to me is top 10 working and prolly top 20 all time.
Top 5 from him
1. Social network
2. Fight club
3. Seven
4. Gone girl
5. Zodiac
Truly one of the GOATS! Great ranking
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ thanks guys! Great content! Got a few friends watching yall now
@@domwalker6526 appreciate it!
Great stuff! Thank you!
🙌
You guys are on the rise! Keep it up!
Fincher is one of the greatest
Another great show and good insights! I think one of Finchers gifts is all his films color tone quality. Michael Mann is very similar in his film approach. Their films have uniform color washes. It might be blues, browns, greys. But they tie every frame of each film together. I think the best films follow this technique.
Thank you!
Great video. I have to point out, Seven was all filmed in California. None of it was filmed in Chicago and New York.
Thanks!
Y’all will only get bigger and bigger, best podcast out there!!!
Appreciate the support Eli!
I love Benjamin Button, I had no idea it was directed by Fincher 😱 the aesthetic is super different!
Also love Zodiac and Gone Girl...Amazing podcast! 💕
It's so fun when he leaves the dark genres! Gone Girl is soooo good, which is why we devoted an entire half episode to it💕💕💕
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Trust me, I’ve seen it! You guys are my favorite ❤️
The social network is about a person who is so hated and always will be. It is good that Aron Sorkin never had to read a book. When he wrote the adapted screen play for the movie Steve Jobs. He said that he never read the book.
Which made the movie so bad.
I wish you guys could’ve elaborated on the theory that Se7en takes place in a Pre-Batman Gotham.
That's an interesting theory! But I don't think Fincher would ever do anything related to super heroes
Mines gotta be se7en, Ill never get tired of it no matter how many times I watch it
It's amazing!!!
David fincher is an amazing director and you guys made really good points !!
Thanks!
Love all your video and podcasts there the best Keep up the good work 😁👍👍
Thank you! Will do! Appreciate your support
Not a lot of Basements in California... that line still gives me chills :)
😵
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ hey sorry i was so critical of yalls LOTR video... That holds a special place in my heart. To make it up. I liked a few (the Harry Potter one i know and this one)
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ i read somewhere that this line only appears in the directors cut. If thats true that is so sad. I think ive only seen the DC
Was wondering if you guys would ever do apocalypse/disaster movies such as 2012 and the day after tomorrow
Of course! We're going to do every single genre, topic, director, actor, etc. We're only 36 episodes in so just getting started!
Love the podcast 👍🏽
Thanks Gavin!
Denis Villeneuve please guys 🙏 make sure to include his french film Incendies
Denis has probably had the best decade in filmmaking, he has to get an episode soon
The social network is the best Fincher film
100%
They’re making big money moves
Let's gooo
would love for you guys to do a 'dollar trilogy' episode with clint eastwood !
On the list!
David Fincher Directed ALIEN 3 and SE7EN
Anarchy, Nihilism, Chaos. Those are very different concepts.
You guys should review The Invitation with discount Tom Hardy!!!
LMFAO Such a good movie!
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button was a short story by F. Scott F. wrote.
What post processing effects are you using on the mics?
Nothing too complicated. Noise reduction, Normalization, Single Band Compressor, Amplification and Hard Limiter. How does it sound?
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ sounds decent, I would throw some equalization on there to roll off the low end ~100hz and boost the high end (shelf at around 3k-4k hz). The SM7b is a fairly dark microphone. I think the biggest thing for y'all right now would be geting acoustic treatment for the room. Sounds like the walls are pretty bare, so you're getting quite a bit of reverb. I'd recommend 2 inch thick rockwool or fiberglass panels. Or if you decorate the room more, it will diffuse a lot of the reflections. Love the podcast guys, keep it up!
@@kossler Yea we gotta get rid of the echo. Our studio has a weird layout but I'm gonna get some dampen wall paneling. I'll try those effects out though thanks bud!!
What other episode did you guys talk about fight club?
We talked about Se7en in a previous episode! Not fight club. Serial killer episode
You talked about it on one of the Halloween podcasts. The book atleast. Saw it on tiktok
@@watchnhate6851 Ohhh I think we may have brought it up you're right
Great
🙏
Please bring back Mindhunter!
I like that the episodes are getting longer anotha good one
This one took all weekend to make 😂
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Mad props appreciate you guys
I really hope that they make a season 3 of mind hunter. There are so many things i want answered! lol
Same here! Even if Fincher hands it off to someone else. So many things it revisit, especially the entire side plot of the serial killer with those glasses!
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ right!! and what about the detective an his creepy son lol
For real!!
Great job with the table of contents. Fincher made some of my favorite movies, but I never knew they were his.
Thanks Kodey! Hoping it creates a better experience for everyone
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Had to use it on this episode because I haven't seen The Game or Panic Room. Will have to give those a watch this week.
Aren’t your photo captions supposed to match your texts??
Will you guys talk about the first Taken Movie? I find it seriously underrated. Other two movies not so much 😂
Of course! We're only 36 episodes in so give us some time, lots of topics to cover!
Denzel Washington turned down the part that went to Brad Pitt, telling Entertainment Weekly that the film was too "dark and evil." Washington later regretted his decision upon seeing a screening.
Is this the long episode so far?
i think so
Oh yeaaaa
I love that Zodiac is here
Finally watched it, amazing episode as always. And I too feel Ruffalo is underrated (and underused in the MCU) his performance both in Zodiac and Spotlight show his immense talent
Absolutely! He's a great actor, so good in Spotlight

Se7en is rightly regarded as the first "A" production for New Line Cinema, proving that they could attract "A-list" directors and cast.
This was voted the eighth scariest film of all time by Entertainment Weekly.
You guys should do an escape room episode. Movies like the cube trilogy, saw, and devil! :-)
Great idea Amanda thank you!!!
Are you guys moving into the long form podcast direction or is this a once off
Well we generally hit around 90 minutes, but would like to keep reaching past 2 hours. The workload is immense so we're trying to balance it out. For example this episode took 3 days to make 😂
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ haha no problem. I’m listening to it on Spotify either way wether it’s in one sitting or a couple. Keep it up guys
David Fincher had his production designer Arthur Max look at films like Klute (1971) and Malice (1993) to give him an idea of what kind of world he wanted created.
Comment your favorite David Fincher movie!
Zodiac
The Social Network
David Cronenberg was offered a chance to direct this, but he turned it down.
This podcast is my only source of serotonin. How about a Jake Gyllenhaal episode?
That's the best thing I've heard all week! Jake may have to be our next actor spotlight :)
regarding Fight Club The Narrator suffers from DID
Facebook want be here in 20nyears.
They still don’t work well now in CA.
Andrew Garfield is the best actor in every movie he is in!
Guillermo del Toro turned down the chance to direct, because as a romantic, he didn't subscribe to the script's dark view of the world.
Minks is the only movie I did not like by David Fincher.
Swedish ''Millennium'' movies were lightyears better, there was absolutley no need of remakes. I respect David Fincher and Im big fan of his movies, EXEPT his take of that european masterpiece. STIEG Larsson, if you love the novels you can say his name right I think, may he rest in peace!
Respect 👌
