The same shit happened to James Cameron on ALIENS. The British Crew didn’t respect Cameron or believes in his vision and he ended up butting heads. Fincher and Cameron are extremely knowledgeable in Film Making and Special FX and IMO Mastered there craft.

That’s absolutely right. As a Brit, i was ashamed to hear about jealous crew members engineering, gooey visual effects to literally blow up in Fincher’s face while he was testing. He was more knowledgeable at age 27 than most of the crew combined.

I notice some distinct parellels to his up and coming protege, David Prior, who went through hell to make, The Empty Man. Which is one helluva a movie, that got stuck in the can for a few years, then released in the most shitty and nonchalant way. Empty Man is slowly becoming the sleeper that looks to become an epic cult classic, as it's finally garnering the recognition it deserves, through word of mouth, and despite the movie houses that tried to bury it. There should be a plethora of junkets on David Prior and various actors of the movie, but the bits of interview from podcasts w/ Prior, he started at an even more unlikely younger age, knowing he was going to make movies, and determined to do it. He ended up designing DVD special editions for Fincher, and talks of feeling out of body when watching him work in the early days. Also working on several of Fincher's movies as well. Best of luck to both of them. When you have that itch, that deep and that young, you deserve to scratch it.

I'm a feature film director in Turkey, who had his wake up call after reading the collected interviews of Fincher. He is the perfect amalgamation of skill, empirical perspective and the philosophy of never suffering fools. Only directors who have suffered in the hands of vapid, status anxious producers and colleagues become this way. Mr. Fincher was a compass for thousands of directors all over the world for always calling shit "shit" and making results better. What a bro.

What fascinates me most about Mr Fincher is he uses every bit of tech he can to make his movie, but the movies always warn, somewhat, about the dangers hidden in our digital/info driven society. The Social Network is about one such pitfall in the modern world, Gone Girl another. There is an old versus new theme in Dragon Tattoo also. That juxtaposition intrigues me.

On their own this shots look good, but when you cut from one to another it all goes to hell - one moment i'm looking in Mr. Fincher eyes. Than a cut comes. And now i'm looking at a wall that out of focus. It brings up an important thin about editing - you have to start thinking about it before the cameras start rolling.

I don't know what is up with editor. But the editing distracting vieweing. Why not go wider while their both talking and use telelens while only person talking or go wide while he addressing the people.

Only an irreverent director like Fincher could have perfectly translated the nihilistic spirit of Chuck's book to film.

The Bronze Age of DC Comics I didn’t get anything of Fight Club that resembled masculinity instead I found it as an exposing of our society allowing ourselves to waste our lives and they’re joyously not subtle about it in showing a man who in memory could be reasonably considered comical but it was done in such to put it, a disgustingly beautiful way I mean Marla could be token as an outlet of his masculinity but I understand what you’re saying

I love Fincher but he sounds like an obssesed director, no like others like... Tarantino who appears to show passion for his work.
