I usually add 0.2mm-0.4mm spacing between meshing gear teeth

A gear I'm working on now (not 3D) is module 5, and about 13 teeth
it is only 6mm in diameter, so it sounds like your 1.5 module
is barely visible without a microscope.
shrugs....

use the "combine" tool to subtract/cut the gear shape out of another shape
