2 suggestions - heat the eyelash curler before use -some use a hairdryer, I use hot water and dry the curler before using it - cut a small curve out of a business card and put the card against the skin before applying mascara, so you don't get mascara on your eye shadow or eyelid.
Wayne: you have the most beautiful; teeth and i absolutely love your tutorials. I am 52 years old and I stopped wearing make up because it made me look older but some of your tips have really helped and I can't wait to go out and buy lots of new make up
Wendy Dobson , ditto. As in makeup made or makes me look older too. When I was young makeup was fun and okay if it made me look older. It didn't make me look older. I don't feel old but my face definitely says otherwise. :-/. I'm excited and hoping to find techniques that will hopefully make me feel beautiful like make up used to. If not, that's okay too because it does take time. P.S. I said I don't feel old but to be honest sometimes I do. And like probably anyone I don't want to look old. I hope you find tips that work for you. And me too.
I have a problem with using eyelash curlers. I never use them because my curler fits my left eye but not my right eye. When doing my left eye, all the lashes get into the curler. When doing my right eye, only the inner corner of my lashes gets caught in the curler but the rest of the eye doesn't make it into the curler. I have no idea why. I've tried so many different techniques. I guess my right eye is a totally different shape than my left? :(
This is the best eyelash tip ever. 14 hours after I did my eye makeup, did school run in the rain, walked the dogs, did a full day working illustrating, my eyelashes still have a lovely curl. thank you!!
Wayne, I have always been good with make-up, but you have made me great - just at the time in my life when I have suddenly become allergic to most of it and don't care to use much anymore. My career is over, my health isn't great and I don't have the energy to be on the go as much as before; but I still watch your videos religiously, because I adore you and think your tips and techniques are wonderful. Thank you for being a part of my life!
Wayne, I just want to say that you are GREAT. Many other makeup artists just do tutorials with different makeup looks/colours but these tips and tricks you provide....something else. THANK YOU.You are amazing!!
I alwayssss catch my skin when I use an eyelash curler so I just use a spoon to curl my eyelashes and it works wonders! I can get right to the root and the curl is amazing
You hold the head of the spoon on its side with your thumb on the bottom edge and your index finger on the top edge. Once you actually hold it up to your eyelash you'll want to put your thumb underneath your lashes with the bottom edge of the spoon laying on top of the lashes as close to the root as desired, then with the support of your top index you slide the spoon across your entire lash line. I hope I explained this well enough! It definitely took me some time to get the hang of it but once I did I never curled my eyelashes any other way. OH I forgot to mention, probably not good to do once your mascara has been applied; this is something you'll want to do beforehand. Eeek, hope I helped.
Maria F. Lopez Really? I used to do it with a spoon too but it kept making my lashes fall out so I stopped. You just hold the lashes between your thumb and the edge of the spoon and gently pull so it curls like when you use scissors to curl a ribbons
EVERY eyelash curler I've tried has pinched my skin...except for the Shu Uemura. It also gives a super noticeable curl. Might be worth checking out! :) x
Wayne, I just saw a video about curling eyelashes. She uses a hair dryer and warms her eyelashcurlurer for a few seconds, checks it against her cheek to make sure that it's not too hot, then curls her eyelashes...applies mascara and WOW...I'm going to try this! I started using the Lash Boost a few weeks ago and am seeing growth there and my eyebrows!! I had a lot of hair loss all over and am looking forward to seeing new growth!!
I just love your videos SO much! I have always been the "natural girl" type and intimidated by makeup--particularly eye makeup--but you make it seem achievable and less complicated. Now that I'm older and dealing with the insecurities and challenges built in to that, I want to try to learn how to use makeup so that I can feel more confident in how I look... Thank you for sharing your knowledge, artistry and talent in such an approachable and do-able way! Chelsea
People that say that your videos are crap or they aren't anything fantastic , just look at them and ask , " are you a makeup artist ? Do even you have experience ? " and look back at yourself and just smile . Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks ! ♡ I hope you don't let anyone bring you down !
Hello Wayne! I am commenting because I wanted to thank you. Thank you for all you've taught me. I'm turning 14 on July 28th and it makes me so happy to say that I know I want to be a makeup artist!!! It's all because of you!
You are by far the most talented, fabulous down to earth makeup guru on RUclips... I love your videos and your tips are so simple and lifechanging. Love you Wayne !
I have no problem curling my lashes, but as soon as I put on my mascara, they sag and just become straight again. No matter how thin my first layer is. Does anyone have any tips for this?
You should try applying mascara and once it dries, curl your lashes. It gives a curler illusion and your lashes look longer. Make sure to clean your curler a lot doing this because it could get clogged up with mascara
Every time I watch your videos you make me better at my job as an artist. I always tell my clients to check out your videos should they forget the steps I showed them. Thank you for always being an inspiration!
Wayne, love your new chompers, love your tips and videos! Don't listen to all the mean negative Nellies. You look great and I like your hair in this video as well.
Your hair in this video is amazing! It is incredibly stylish and classy but muted enough that it isn't screaming for attention. It also looks so natural, as though you woke up like this.
Omg this video has changed my life. (Ok not really) I have a good natural curl to my lashes and have tried to use eye lash curlers in the past, they never worked. So tonight I tried this method and I can feel my lashes touch my lid when I blink. No mascara and still wonderful. Thank you for your tutorials can't wait for the next one.
Flip the lash curler upside down and it kind of straightens the curl @itsmyrayeraye has a video on it though she's not a makeup artist. Still a good tip
MsDinoGal put a plastic spoon on your lid behind your lashes and it will act as a shield and keep the mascara from getting on your lids. I also use the side of the spoon to trace a cat eye wing with liquid liner!
I can, with certainty, say that you have the best makeup tips on RUclips HANDS DOWN !!! Everyone that knows me knows I'm a beauty junkie and your videos are the only ones I share on my Facebook. Thought you should know you truly stand out from the rest :)
It is amazing to realize I have long, visible lashes! Always though that I have rather short eyelashes. I'm 44 and sparsely used cosmetics. For whatever reason I used to apply mascara mostly on the end of the lashes and would always drip and lose any curl. So after seeing some of your eyelashes I done them again and I feel like a new woman. I like my lashes and eyes a lot more now. Thank you!
(Aside from the mismatched brows) You look so good in this video!! Very handsome! I've started curling my lashes like this recently, and even though my roommate gives me odd looks, the change in curl and definition is definitely noticeable.
Love this advice Wayne! I am in my 50's and have learned many great tips for my "aging" face. (Dark circles, good genes in the family....so just a few small lines) I still do have a problem with dark circles from lack of sleep. I know, I know....well then sleep...I have fibromyalgia and it's tough. I want you to know that I have turned so many friends on to your site and they love it. At work I would give them advice from here and finally just said....go sign up!! Good job Wayne...we love you in Northern, Virginia!!!
Definitely going to be doing this. I used the 'wipe the mascara brush before use' tip and it has made a huge difference, no more clumping, nasty looking lashes. I am more than impressed. Thanks Mr G - we all are, and feel, more beautiful thanks to you x
I tried this technique yesterday and even after cleaning off all of my makeup last night and having a sleep they are still curled this morning! Amazing! Thank you for this
Great tip and to make the lashes stay on longer than a few hours is to heat your eyelash Curler with a hairdryer before u use the curler on your lashes but be careful not to heat the lashes for too long, make sure you touch and test the curler before applying the curler to your lashes.
I love it when you come up with simple, weird little tips like this that work really well, don't cost any money and make a huge difference. Well done Wayne! You look great btw! More handsome every day. :)
Thank you thank you thank you!!! This is the best lash tip ever. My lashes point downward and no matter what I try nothing keeps them curled up for longer than a few minutes. I used to wear strip lashes every day, now I can save them for special occasions!!
one thing I get annoyed with my eyelash curler is that it kind of lessens the intensity of my liquid eyeliner because it smudges it when it touches my eyelid...I can't imagine what this trick will do to my eyeliner lol. but definitely will try it if i dont have eyeliner :)
Had the same problem! Have tried curling then applying eyeliner, but it's hard to get the line straight because my curled lashes get in the way. So what I do is apply a pencil eyeliner and then set it with a black eyeshadow (or whatever color your liner is) using a thin angled brush, then I curl my eyelashes. The eyeshadow really sets the liner and prevents smudging. Also waiting a minute or two after you apply your eyeliner gives it some more time to set. I usually fill in my eyebrows in the meantime.
I'm so glad you uploaded such an important tip. I'm actually seeing my boyfriend who graduates from bootcamp this friday and something that will make my eyes seem more open is what I need! Let's see if he'll notice the difference, thanks goss!!
You sir are an absolute genius! Truly! I just tried your technique and it worked like a charm! I used Lancome Hypnose Waterproof mascara, one thin coat as you suggested. Amazing!! When I was younger my lashes were very long, thick and dark. Now they are dark but not as long or thick. This trick brought back the lashes I knew 30 years ago! Thank you so much!! (P.S.Your smile is gorgeous!!)
this technique save my life.!! everytime i try this I always mentally thank Wayne for sharing the best technique everrrr.! cuz I have long lashes but they're really straight so this is amazing MUST TRY
I had it with my eyelash curler, and then I pick up a pair of false lashes, the challenges seems to prevails. I see this video, and I am confident that it'll help me uplift them as I needed them to be, your tips always works well. Thank you.
Wayne I adore you and your tips always, but today I have a negative comment....did you do any prosthetics on your teeth????I am positive you did cause I spotted the difference, but soo soo sorry to say it i dont like them.....I am a dental technicial and i think that they did not achieve what they should....I believe the shape is completely different than yours, and I spot a huge difference as well on the way they changed your mouth articulation which also changed your accent....
Are you subscribed to gossmakeupchat ?! If not where have you been? Because he uploaded a video all about his teeth, which I for one think are AH-MAZING!
I love watching his videos, could watch them for hours! They are so informational and fun to watch! I also love that he tells you the real deal, no BS!
Wayne spectacular tip As always! I have been blessed with naturally long and thick lashes, I didn't think this grip could help me at all! However I Did it, pushed my eyelids to the back of my head
You are one handsome fella Wayne. I learn something new nearly every time I watch a video of yours! Thanks for taking time to make us videos with your tips and advice. You have changed the way I see and use cosmetics. xo
I know you promised that I won't kill myself but I don't know eyelash curlers just freak me out, though this technique is OBVIOUSLY UHMAZING !!! I always imagine me curling my lashes and then someone like moving my arm or something ridiculously unlikely like that and then me pulling my lashes out and ahh i dunno lol
Just want to say that i love your videos and i done my lashes and all i have to say is OMG!!!!!!! they opened my eyes sooooo much, i even got tons of compliments on how bright my eyes were. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.
Omg Wayne! Your brilliant! I have one eye with a slightly heavier eyelid and im gonna attempt to do this trick on that one eye. In theory it should work. I so admire you for your creative use of cosmetics BUT... I LOVE YOU for your kindness, honesty and generous heart! Thank You
+AikaLove629 I don't know the kind you have but they make special eye lash curlers for people with monolids. They are usually smaller so they are easier to get right in there without pinching you. Have you tried that type?
Omg. I just discovered this video and tried it this morning. Wow!! What a game changer this is!! Thank you so much Wayne! I love your videos. They have helped me so much.
Thank you! That is just what I needed today. I hate hearing how tired I look and I don't always have time to do a full eye make-up routine! Lovely to see how much of a difference this little step will make! Thanks!
Ugh... Then go away!! Isn't that simple enough?? No, you have to leave stupid, negative comments. There are other ways to make yourself feel better boo
First video I've watched. Yaaaahz. I can literally fell my eyelashes they curled so high. Honestly, makeup artist always talk about secret tips, but this was such gratifying instant result with zero practice. Awesome. (Also first RUclips comment, that's how impressed I was)
Currently using your powder-before-foundation tip and applying gel liner to eyelash curler base. AMAZING results just like you said. Going to try this one next. LOVES!
This doesn't really have anything to do with this video but.. I just watched vintageortacky's review of your face brush set and I think they look like amazing brushes!! They are definitely on my wishlist! The price for the brushes is way high! but i think it's great that you put so much thought into the brushes and what the buyers would want right down to the care of the animals the hair is from! you rarely see that and I think its fantastic to finally find someone who cares about their customers and the animals which the hair is from! So with that in mind the price doesn't bother me if i know that i am getting a quality product! I also want to let you know that your videos on RUclips are great!! You can tell simply by your videos that you have alot more knowledge about make-up than any "beauty guru" on RUclips. I find it extremely helpful that you acknowledge people have different eye shapes and face shapes and that everyone will need to do their own make-up differently to achieve a gorgeous look. You have helped me so much since i started recently becoming interested in make-up although I have been watching your videos for a long time! I think other beauty bloggers on RUclips could learn a thing or two from you haha Thank-you so much! :) :)
I decided to get myself an eyelash curler as I'm going on a cruise and want to look swanky on formal nights. This has really made a huge difference, even with no mascara or anything. And as an added bonus, my eyes even feel more open, and I don't feel like my outer lashes are slightly catching on each other every time I blink!
This is a great tip! I've been doing this for 25 years thus giving myself what appears to be eyelashes because I barely have any. I taught my sister and daughters;even though they have long curled eyelashes; they get compliments all the time because of this technique vs not doing it 😊
WOW...every time I watch one of your videos I learn something like u said "u didn't know but should". Just tried your tip and it worked great. Thx for being u!
This is awesome :) I am not sure if this is just my way of understanding things but from having watched so many other makeup artist make videos, he explains things in a way that you don't really need to hear it twice or back up the video either way I love this.
Thank you! The site "Beauty Department" mentioned this technique way back, but it was so hard to understand, with no visual demo. This is a video I've waited to see. Again, thanks! :)
Ok girls I tried this trick this morning. I am in love with the difference my eyelashes held the curl all day. thank you Wayne .
2 suggestions - heat the eyelash curler before use -some use a hairdryer, I use hot water and dry the curler before using it

Thanks
I'M A KIWI They're all generally the same shape though, so it would be the same issue.
I'M A KIWI I know the feeling :/ My eyes aren't small, but they're deep set, so they're also quite tricky to deal with.

Hello Wayne! I am commenting because I wanted to thank you. Thank you for all you've taught me. I'm turning 14 on July 28th and it makes me so happy to say that I know I want to be a makeup artist!!! It's all because of you!
Hey! 6 years later, how is it going?:)
I wanna know as well
I hope you have achieved your dreams, Raven 💜
Hey! How are you?
Hey girl update us!
It even makes his eye color slightly brighter thanks so much
You are by far the most talented, fabulous down to earth makeup guru on RUclips... I love your videos and your tips are so simple and lifechanging. Love you Wayne !
I have no problem curling my lashes, but as soon as I put on my mascara, they sag and just become straight again. No matter how thin my first layer is.

You should try applying mascara and once it dries, curl your lashes. It gives a curler illusion and your lashes look longer. Make sure to clean your curler a lot doing this because it could get clogged up with mascara
Hey, thanks for this tip, but i have tried that already and it hurts like hell! :(
Rayne Rebel you could also try curling your lashes, then adding some petroleum jelly like Vaseline on your eyelashes then add your mascara
+Shreya Giduturi what is that going to do. doesn't that make your eyelashes fall down right away
Rayne Rebel well Vaseline keeps away clumps from mascara, and one of my friends uses this and she has the same problem as you, and it works for her!
Thank you x
Your hair in this video is amazing! It is incredibly stylish and classy but muted enough that it isn't screaming for attention. It also looks so natural, as though you woke up like this.
Another practice to add to my daily make up routine. This is amazing and very do-able even for beginners like me. Thank you! *hugs*
Wayne why isn't there more gentleman like you in the world???? You're just a doll. Love the video, and the tip!!!!!!
I pull out my eyelashes by accident when I just curl them regular but this method... I don't think i'll have any left by the time im done!
me too!!
Same!! It's like such an involuntary thing!! I really wanna be able to do this without stabbing myself in the eye or ripping off all my eyelashes.
Me too!!.. Any tips to grow it fast back
Ramya Venkatesh I’m late but I made a serum of castor oil and jojoba oil and it has helped my lash growth so much since giving up on lash extensions.
@@ramyavenkatesh4452 apply natural aloe vera gel on them every day

My eyelashes curl up naturally. Result? Mascara all over underneath my brows, every day.
You girls have great suggestions!
elf has a $1-$2 shadow and mascara sheild it works really well to prevent it from getting on ur lid and eyebrows
MsDinoGal wait for the smudged mascara to dry and then you can brush it off without damaging your shadow
Awesome work Wayne...You got a new fannnn :) :) :)
I can, with certainty, say that you have the best makeup tips on RUclips HANDS DOWN !!! Everyone that knows me knows I'm a beauty junkie and your videos are the only ones I share on my Facebook. Thought you should know you truly stand out from the rest :)
I take a hair dryer to heat my eyelashes curler then water proof mascara . This holds my curl well.

It's 2019 and this video is STILL VERY VERY useful!!! :D Thank you for posting!
Also in 2021 🙏🏽🎊
this makes all the difference in the world!! it made my lashes look like fake ones and really made the curl last all day long! THANK YOU!
Real question. Why not just do the second step, and forget about the first?
(Aside from the mismatched brows) You look so good in this video!! Very handsome!
I've started curling my lashes like this recently, and even though my roommate gives me odd looks, the change in curl and definition is definitely noticeable.

You are the only person I have ever seen that doesn't make the mascara face mouth wide open with the tongue hanging out. Love you and your tips.
wow! that really works but holy hell my heart stopped when you pushed in 😂 I'm like he's about to pop his eye out!!! 😮😲😨😂
I tried this technique yesterday and even after cleaning off all of my makeup last night and having a sleep they are still curled this morning! Amazing! Thank you for this

they do look great...but something about them before reminded me of Christian Bale...and the imperfection was hot...idk ;)

Great tip and to make the lashes stay on longer than a few hours is to heat your eyelash Curler with a hairdryer before u use the curler on your lashes but be careful not to heat the lashes for too long, make sure you touch and test the curler before applying the curler to your lashes.
What kind of curler eyelash do you use? Like the brand ?
i think that it is the Surratt Beauty Relevée Lash Curler

He filmed a video all about his fake teeth on his chat RUclips
He had pain because of his teeth. And yes you should watch the teeth video for more info
Why is one eyebrow filled in and the other no ??
He explains why at the start of the video.
that's the first thing he explained???
haha ! my bad i commented before the video kinda started.
CupCake50423 lol shit i almost commented the same
Wayne spectacular tip As always! I have been blessed with naturally long and thick lashes, I didn't think this grip could help me at all! However I Did it, pushed my eyelids to the back of my head
Wayne I love your eyebrows filled in! xo
OMG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS OF THE TRAGIC THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEND WHILE I CURL MY LASHES! lmao 😂😂😂😭😂😭😂
The tragic things happen to me all the time. Every time I curl my lashes I find myself accidentally pulling out my already sparse eyelashes. :(
Such a simple tip, but I have never heard this before. I can't wait to try it out! You have by far, my absolute favorite makeup tips and tutorials!
I always did it like this i feel proud of myself lol (': good tip!
Same haha
Same lol
Just want to say that i love your videos and i done my lashes and all i have to say is OMG!!!!!!! they opened my eyes sooooo much, i even got tons of compliments on how bright my eyes were. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.

You're so kind and the way you talk to your camera (to us) makes me feel as we're good friends. Love you and your videos so much

I love how the eyes look when using this technique ! So beautiful! Thank you for sharing :)
What is the name of the eyelash curler please?
Lisa Prevette i wrote the name wrong like 5 times because i couldn't hear what he said :b, but i found it! it's called surratt :)
SuperAkami Thank you so much!
Omg Wayne! Your brilliant! I have one eye with a slightly heavier eyelid and im gonna attempt to do this trick on that one eye. In theory it should work. I so admire you for your creative use of cosmetics BUT... I LOVE YOU for your kindness, honesty and generous heart! Thank You
Knowing my luck my eyeballs would pop out. LOL.
Your tips are so original, I never get this kind of information anywhere else. Loyal follower xx
I bought my first eyelash curler today but I'm still terrified of it O.o
i dont know how to use them.i pinch my eyelids ;-;. ihave monolids :(
+AikaLove629 I don't know the kind you have but they make special eye lash curlers for people with monolids. They are usually smaller so they are easier to get right in there without pinching you. Have you tried that type?
Omg. I just discovered this video and tried it this morning. Wow!! What a game changer this is!! Thank you so much Wayne! I love your videos. They have helped me so much.
This actually pulls out your lashes...don't recommend it.
Thank you! That is just what I needed today. I hate hearing how tired I look and I don't always have time to do a full eye make-up routine! Lovely to see how much of a difference this little step will make! Thanks!
Nothing special, like always.
Ugh... Then go away!! Isn't that simple enough?? No, you have to leave stupid, negative comments. There are other ways to make yourself feel better boo
:D !! are you serious!! As if you knew this technique?? oh please :D ... vicious
Mindyourbusiness person ikr!!?? Negative ppl are pathetic lol
well he's prettier than you
Rosappeltje lmao!
This technique is so accurate!! I've been doing this technique as well and it never fails me with most of the mascaras Ive tried :)
Awesome tip, I love how amazing it made your eyes pop and look bigger and brighter. I can't get enough of your videos....
Just tried this! My life is changed forever! Amazing.
As a person who only wears mascara, this tip is AMAZING. The difference is incredible! Thanks for sharing!
This is a great tip! I've been doing this for 25 years thus giving myself what appears to be eyelashes because I barely have any. I taught my sister and daughters;even though they have long curled eyelashes; they get compliments all the time because of this technique vs not doing it 😊
Your videos have by far given me the BEST tips with the most awesome results. Simply you are the BEST! Thanks your beautiful♥
WOW...every time I watch one of your videos I learn something like u said "u didn't know but should". Just tried your tip and it worked great. Thx for being u!
The eyelash curler tip really works!! I have short eyelashes but they look amazing using this technique! Love it...
This is awesome :) I am not sure if this is just my way of understanding things but from having watched so many other makeup artist make videos, he explains things in a way that you don't really need to hear it twice or back up the video either way I love this.
My god you look so much younger since you got that thing done to your under eye bags.
Wow! Flawless!
I have never been able to get my lashes to curl and hold a curl until now. Thank you, so very much! You're a genius!
I love how your skin looks in this video! It looks so healthy just love it.
BOOM! And you changed my eyelash game! I just tried this and I can't believe what a difference it made! THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Oh my goodness, Wayne this method is genius. I'm always looking for a way to make my eyes pop. Thank you for being a genius! :)
These tips are so simple but make such a difference. You are amazing.
Thank you! The site "Beauty Department" mentioned this technique way back, but it was so hard to understand, with no visual demo. This is a video I've waited to see. Again, thanks! :)
