This is the 1997 AMA Supercross season finale from Las Vegas. This race is best known as the first one ever won by a four-stroke with Doug Henry at the controls.
I have seen this race more than any other in my life. I was 11 when this happened. My hero had just lost the season for the first time, and these heavy, awful sounding fourskin things were about to take over. The end of the golden era. MC came back and took 3 more titles. *Pls arrange races in order if possible

I just saw an interview with Davey Coombs where he said, in hindsight, they should have went 150/300cc for the 4T displacement allotments instead of the 250/450cc they allowed.

And the races have never been able to recapture the excitement or popularity after the 2-stroke left. It just isn't the same.

just bought another 4-stroke and still miss 2-stroke days.....
The day Yamaha change motocross forever
Never has been as exciting or the same since the 4-strokes took over. They should have limited them to 350 and we would still see the 2-strokes.

Denny and the Budman up there with Fro. That bike Doug Henry was riding is one of the best looking bikes ever!
