Who says co-drivers arent racing drivers? He had his life on the line and he still thinks about saving the pace notes so that they can still go out racing again and win it. @@DirtFish We really appreciate your work👍 I can't be the only one who think this but WRC social media team is doing quite poor job compared to F1. But of course I don't know all the details so maybe the budget size is the reason for the lack of content.
@@skynet0912 Roll cage will take it. The most dangerous accidents are those where you have to escape the car to survive, paradoxically because what makes them hard to get out of is what makes them safe to be in during most forms of crashes.
That is incredible, the fact on how that car back in 2015 was in the lake deep down and for the guys at M Sport to nlt only repair the car but get it started later that night, full credit to them.
Brilliant short film! I had no idea that it was such a dramatic moment with the team losing communication - I figured with modern trackers, GPS & cameras everywhere, everyone would've known that the pair were fine. Almost brings to mind the complete lack of communication on Henri Toivonen's fatal crash, way back in the 80's... And then getting the pacenotes from the wreckage and _getting the car running again?_ Rally teams really are something else.
@Yeah Nah To be honest that doesn't make you look good in my eyes. I think he would have had plenty of motivation without that. What you described sounds arrogant of you. The way you brag about it, yes I believe it is true story. Maybe you also made him cold as stone to human interactions??!! I'd be glad to get anyone's autograph if one wanted to give me one - if not nothing else, then just for fun. I'd happily get autographs from any current WRC drivers, including WRC2. That aside, did you finally get his autograph? Not that I think you collect autographs. I don't either.
Damn, that was really a scary experience! The fear of seeing a submerged car is the difference between total defeat or pushing through; kudos to the team at M-Sport!
By that point Tänak had a rough season making many mistakes and after that crash I said "that is it, he is going back to WRC2 next year". What do you know, 4 years later, he won the championship.

Because Ott never lifts his foot from pedal😉 no matter what. He just wants to be first, always! This was his only strategia for a long time. Now he knows better. But new team and new car and old habbits are back. For now. Untill he learns how Hyundai behaves and can start to make it better. This car just is more unstabile.

I think this was a moment when Malcolm really chiseled he’s name in the WRC history books.
see mick 'the chef' is also the interesting part of this video, well I mean, is there any other team chef from other team who give a comment about something special that ever happen in his team?
Recently this exact car has competed in Rally Barbados 2020 (an event Ken Block went there to compete with his new car....and the one who told the car's history on his FB page lol), now wearing its "P19" Barbados car plates.
The engine was new and definitely it had to start. The backstory is what is sweet and message sent is Not retreat no surrender , never giver up, moments you feeling like quitting that’s when you 💥 power up. 🇰🇪😝
The accidents, the car submerging into water, they literally fighting for their lives and the co-driver still held on to his pacenotes. What a legend.

Loving these mini-documentaries - DirtFish is filling an unfortunately very large gap in rally broadcasting so more of this is great!

This 5 minutes of footage was far better that most movies I saw last year...
That's one of the two biggest fears I have for rally drivers and navigators, the other is fire.
Agreed! Both of those are extremely dangerous.
I think the biggest fear in both those situations is that you can't get out in time. Otherwise it wouldn't be so bad.
Another big fear i have is roof first into a tree...

This is the kind of stuff that makes Rally so special. I love it!
Unbelievable they even thought about getting the car going again let alone actually doing it 👏👏
Rally teams have a drive that you don’t see in other motorsports.👌
This has to be seen as one of the greatest moments in motorsports.
It really does!
I was impressed that the sound of the engine sounded again in the submerged car👏
It was an extremely good bit of teamwork to get the car going again!

I haven't seen "Ott Tänak The movie", so this was a treat! Thanks!
