- Over the past weekend, an Ilyushin Il-76 and Antonov 124 from Volga-Dnepr paid a visit to Calgary International Airport, bringing in some cargo from China.
It's not often you see two Soviet-era-designed planes back-to-back here, so these made for quite a fun few days of spotting! Enjoy the video!

Wow, an IL76 and An124 at the same time, how amazing is that?! Very nice catches, loved the sound of the 124 during takeoff.
When I was being tested fot my DA at YYZ I got to park under the wing of the124. I felt pretty insignificant. The fella testing me really enjoyed it too!
That roar from the an-124 was immaculate!
I swear the antonov doesn't even rotate. It just... leaves the ground.
The Earth drops from below it
@@gleamingbige8119 haha yes!
That was an amazing video!! Seeing the Antonov take off so smoothly was amazing. That plane is so huge!
Always a pleasure to see those birds, we get them in Toronto frequently too and they always draw a crowd! Thanks Alex, awesome footage!
That's some pretty big muscle planes !
Very smooth landings and take offs too !
Love the sound of AN124 D-18T engines!
Gods what a behemoth! I could almost hear Ride of the Valkyrie when it took off! Great job Alex.
That's crazy how much bigger the -124 is sitting beside the -76. Gives a good sense of scale of the hugeness of that thing.
Beautiful camera work, Alex! Nice to see more Ukrainian built planes in Canada 😍
Very nice views of the Volga-Dnepr Antonov An124-100 and the Ilyushin IL-76, always nice to see these massive aircraft.
I saw that AN-124 while I was at Cross Iron. Really happy to see it here
By the way, VD IN NAME OF IL-76 means that this version created particularly for Volga-Dnepr based on their requirements. So it is a modern version
I saw that il-76 land in Copenhagen from Calgary
Marvelous compellation Alex. Especially liked the 124 slowly making the turn to taxi up Alpha after landing.
Great work again Alex. A good amount of time, and work goes into documenting the full cycle of landing, unloading and departing again!
The IL-96 looks like a BAe146 in comparison 😂
Il-76 :-) - But yes, indeed.
👏🏻. Спасибо 😘.
Доброго Полёта, Мягкой Посадки 🤲🏻🙏🏻👏🏻 , всем Пилотам и Самолётам 🍀
Awesome footage 👍👏👌
Love the Ilyushin Il-76 Such Beautiful Russian Plane
I got to see the Antonov come in, it was a beautiful sight
The engines sound amazing
Thank you very much for this seldom picture´s! :-)
IL76 may be produced our days, not a soviet plane. But designed at that times, indeed. Nice footage!
This video is very good on Russian Cargo Planes✈
I saw an IL76 Volga-Dnepr landing at Toronto a couple weeks ago, I wonder if it is the same one in the video
Awesome shots, would love to see the IL76 some day, liked!
Awesome to both lyushin Il-76 and Antonov 124 @ Calgary...
Sure made for some awesome pics on the ramp!
Great video watching from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Amazing captures!
Wow! Super Special
As usual, fantastic video. Thanks for sharing
Awesome rare Soviet plane in Toronto!
And those are simply Antonov 124s.
Wait untill you see the mighty *AN-225!*
Indeed.
Mriya
this as absolutely fantastic!!!!!
The Russians certainly know how to build them big! Great footage Alex!
I believe Antonovs are built in Ukraine.
@@HenningJohansen that's right! Antonov is a Ukrainian made plane. It's Ukrainian brand. Always was
@@emkozilkic4775 it's not kind of dumb. It is dumb to discuss such topic without knowing the history of the brand. Do your research
@@emkozilkic4775 btw don't call BMW a mexican brand. It's not silly. It's dumb
@@HenningJohansen And in Ulyanovsk, Russia
Nice one mate!
Are these related to the Antonov? I know squat nil nada about aviation anyway these are some nice birds! Nevermind I read the title wrong
I have seen both 124 and IL 76
Can't believe I overslept and woke up 10 minutes before the Il-76 pushed back...
F
I was sleeping, but great video!
good job
Nice one!
When is Volga dneper coming back here?
So that why it's so damn smoggy over here... now I understand
We are getting smoke in the air from the BC fires here in Lethbridge
This plane landed in Hamilton today.
4 thrust reversers, interesting.
I'm very curious about what the cargo was.
Same here.
WTF those russian planes were doing here?
@@rossm6614 I believe they're competitively priced, competent and will fly anywhere to anywhere. It's still interesting to wonder who hired them and for what sort of cargo. It's typically something huge and industrial with the big Antonov jet.
@@puirYorick competition in Russian federation?.. it's funny..
BIG
Smooth video! How do you do it?
Far too much practice 😂 Thanks!
quite the russian engineering! nice video alex!
Antonov (AN) always was and currently is Ukrainian plane/brand/company
@@rossm6614 i didn't know that! always thought they were russian. thanks!
Two outstanding Russian designs! Great video.
Antonov (AN) always was and currently is Ukrainian plane/brand/company
Those units are owned by russian company but Antonov (AN) always was and currently is Ukrainian plane/brand/company. Thanks
The IL-76 is big but wouldn't call it "huge". Roughly the same length and wingspan as 767-200 and 28 feet shorter than 767-300. In your video descriptions, appreciate if you would include the actual date and not just the month.
