- After watching the imitators, it’s time for Five Nights at Freddy’s to step in to show how they are the master of Chuck E. Cheese Animatronics Horror in movie form. However, some say that Freddy Fazbear’s film is the worst movie of 2023. As I’ll be presenting my live reaction to the feature, let’s see if the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is as bad as critics say.

AniMat Watches Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023)
#fivenightsatfreddys #fnaf #animat
Also, Five Nights at Freddy's has spawned popularity for a whole genre of horror. Heard of Poppy Playtime, Baldi's Basics, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Tattletail, My Friendly Neighborhood, and more.
Hello Neighbor
Also they should be made into movies too! We're already getting a Bendy and the Ink Machine movie in the works
@@lexramstudios1386 I just mentioned those I considered ok at worst. I heard that Poppy Playtime got better.
My Friendly Neighborhood would be awesome, and liking DreadXP’s work on Amanda the Adventurer. This would be it.
Poppy playtime and bendy are getting films made about them, not sure what Bendy’s film will be about. But I hope Poppy playtime will be about the Hour of Joy
It is said the poppy playtime film will tell an original story@@grinningweirdo4888.
0:25, 😂😂😅😅Its still weirdly funny how those two Films he mentioned came out BEFORE FNaF did back in late 2023
This movie was made for the fans, but strictly for the fans. As a long term fan, I enjoyed it and liked to find all the easter eggs from the main series. However, I can understand why someone from outside the fanbase can not enjoy it as much.
But there are way worse horror movies and videogame adaptations out there.
Fun fact the costumes for the animatronics were made by Jim Henson’s creature shop
Imagine them in Muppets Lookback
Very impressive
@@akganimationstudioproducti3779 I know how much Animat loves the muppets and I thought this would be a awesome fact for him and others who enjoy Jim Henson’s work
@@romanrodriguez2125speaking of which when is he gonna upload his final part of his animation lookback on the muppets, in the final part he’s gonna talk about muppet vision 3D
Even if the fnaf movie wasn’t as super scary and violent as I thought it would be, I still enjoyed it so much. I have been a fan of fnaf ever since its first game and I always wanted a movie adaptation, and years later it finally came out. And I went to go see it with my sister and gf, It was a pretty fun way to celebrate Halloween last year 😊
Hopefully the sequel does it better.
Also, yes I know the fort scene looks silly but we have to remember that these animatronics are possessed by CHILDREN, they had their souls trapped in these animatronics for years being alone and miserable and feeling this violent rage to kill. However once they met Abby and got to play with her, they finally started to feel that childhood joy they once had, they got to be like children again. It’s pretty sad.
Also the reason why Vanessa never told the police is because William has been killing ever since she was a kid, and he obviously has manipulated and used her to help him cover up his crimes, and of course he possibly death threatened her when she was a kid which made him have full control of her, he mentally abused her and filled her with fear.
But yea, this fnaf movie may not be perfect but it was still a pretty decent fun flick to enjoy for the Halloween season. And I am looking forward for the sequel.
Also, I understand, Mat. Even if you didn’t liked the movie, it’s your own opinion and that’s ok, it was still fun seeing your reaction to the movie 😊
This is the first time i watch Mat watching a major studio film.
0:00 It's our boi :D
Nick Offerman as Freddy Fazbear
Whoopi Goldberg as Bonnie
Natasha Lyonne as Chica
Tom Kenny as Cupcake
Willem Dafoe as Foxy
J. K. Simmons as Golden Freddy

We're aware of that
One thing I'm sure to say despite I'm not a fan of this game series (I hardly understand the premise of this) but I can see this being better than Cocain's Blood and Honey. (I know what I said)
However, considering it is based on a game, I can tell it didn't follow something similar to something like the Mario movie where the references help the experience, and the performances the actors bring make it more enjoyable. Even for someone like me, I didn't even get it other than the format, and It's just a big waiting game until you get to the good stuff.
Another thing to add since it's supposedly a Horror movie, this is where I can see the rating that held the movie back from its full potential. Without that hard R, it can't do any of the gruesome scenes it wanted to pull off and all it can do at best is just show filler scenes that reference the games making it dull from beginning to end. It's all a loss right there.
Where's your review of Shark Tale?
Guess we’ll have to wait till next week
I never played any of the games, but I have been following the lore of the games for a couple years since the franchise's first year. I mainly went to this film on October 31 last year just to have at least one Halloween where I watched a horror movie on the big screen. I agree that it's not one of the best video game adaptations, I think I'll take The Super Mario Bros Movie other this almost any day, but it technically does give the fans what they want, though maybe not a whole lot of it. Also, I had enough punches on my movie card to watch one movie for free and I used it on this movie so in case I didn't like the movie, at least I can't say I wasted my money.
Here's a fun fact about the end credit song.
The frist song was a og song by the band the liveing tombstone just called five nights at freddy's.
It's become the anthem of the entire series due to how well know the songs become and it's the bands #1 song on there RUclips (that last part could be wrong).
The version in the movie is a remaster of the og song.
I will just say that when I heard the song in the movie, I screamed due to how amazing it was to hear a fan made song you grew up with being 8n a major film like fnaf.
Still one of the best songs in the entire movie if you ask me.
This movie felt like I was watching a Saw movie but with murderous children that are possessed by animatronics that look something like out of child’s play
Back to the scary world of Animatronics XD
14:25 MatPat cameo!
Just wanna let you guys know. I live in the Netherlands and today I was going to a location of five guys in my city. And I loved it. It was exactly like i imagined a American fast food restaurant to be like. Also everything was in English and the burgers and the fries and the milkshake where amazing. And they had those little pumps where you can refill your sauce. It was absolutely fantastic
Have you watch "The Fanatic" staring John Travolta and Devon Sawa?
14:33 it’s matpat to bad he’s retired
They well continue the FNAF movie FNAF 2 well coming on December 5 2025
IT FINALLY HAPPENED!
You finally saw The FNAF Movie!
It’s funny how non fans think FNAF is nothing more than just animatronics go boo
26:56 wow you actually got it right
The only thing i have a real issue with is, why on earth did they make Vasnessa Willam’s daughter?? He already HAS a daughter in the games, Elizabeth Afton, but maybe they’re waiting for the sequels to tie up that loose end or explain Vassnessa’s origin in this movie’s universe. I heard other people go “WHAT THE HELL??” In the movie theater. It was fun to go see still.
This is an instance of an adaptation taking liberties.
Who wants to see a Chuck E. Cheese movie, but unlike Five Nights at Freddy's, it's a family film.
Are they going to show the bite of 87 and the bite of 83
As a FNaF Fan myself, I am kind of disappointed you didn't enjoy The Film, but you do have your point to not like it, The Horror disappears midway, and there's not that much to The Gameplay references. The Characters are pretty cool though, except for Vanessa, I don't think there even is a purpose to Her other than Exposition Dumping which most Movies love to do, but you do say the movie took itself way too seriously, I don't think the movie takes itself that Seriously The whole time, are we going to ignore Bonnie falling over? Are we going to ignore Hank Screaming like a Chicken with its head cut off? That's the only time I kind of Disagreed, but overall You're Opinion is completely Valid.
Animats review the inseparables next
So, as you may or may not know, the bendy franchise (the one where you voiced the enemy called "fisher" in "bendy and the dark revival") will have a film. What do you think about it?
For me, I think the film should aspire to surpass the FNAF movie both in critical reception and audience reception. For this film it should do the following three things:
1. Try not to care for the age rating
2. Try to stick to the intended genre
3. If it wants to Adapt a specific game, stick to That specific game and don't mash various things together.
A few things that I think should be noted is that while it's fine to put some jokes there, they should be used in a way that fits the characters personalities. I don't think it'll be a good idea to repeat the fortBuilding scene in the five nights at Freddy's film. Now, its doesn't have to adapt everything at 100%. I do think the film will need a better opening than the one in the game, and make the ink demon more menacing than in the game (like an animalistic Jason Voorhees/Michael Myers). Maybe those are my tastes, but I think that the film should be as least practical as possible to better express the cycle's nature. Films like the upcoming IF, Lyle Lyle Crocodile and 2005's king Kong are what I'd go for in terms of how the less natural characters are shown. I also think the film should have a song to trademark it with, much like how it was with the FNAF film when it used the 1987 song: "talking in your sleep". In this case, the song should be "smile darn ya smile".
I also have an idea for who some of the cast and crew should be:

I hate to say it, but you're asking quite a bit on a few of those. Notably the idea of it sticking to any one game.
Since the first game is a time loop, they're probably not going to adapt that part, and the second game brings up that fact HEAVILY with the cycle breakers and what not. So at best, they'd probably be doing some combination of the two (or the third game possibly if it comes out before they get too deep into the screen writing phase).
Also, I don't know if you could get a few of those people all together, let alone for such minor rolls as lost ones (Those would likely be extras at best, with a few small cameos, likely from Bendy youtubers for fanservice).
Also does Bakshi even do movies anymore? Would he even be willing to do a movie like Bendy given its similar idea to his original Cool World pitch?
I do have thoughts about it@@darklanternstudios7691. For example, to reveal everything is a loop, I thought that after beast Bendy's defeat, Henry starts to notice something strange and discovers he somehow has the seeing tool and sees all of the hidden markings. And after that a small montage starts showing Henry doing the journey all over again a number of times (in the likeness of SMG4: WESTERN SPAGHETTI), until Henry ends up getting caught by the keepers and thrown in the pit. Where Henry also discovers he's not what he thought he was (being represented by him turning sepia toned) and then a tease of Audrey. I also thought the film should have its own original content by showing some of "Henry's" life with Linda (played by Daisy Haggard) and maybe his kids (if he has any) for the lost ones cast, I just thought it would be a bit of a funny thing to make a bit of fun of Hollywood celebrities castings and as for backshi, it's actually due to his experience with directing a lot of live action/animated hybrid movies like heavey traffic, coonskin and most importantly: cool world. I just thought it would be nice for him to make a small comeback to direct a film he was kind of never got to.
I've written this before but it got somehow deleted@@darklanternstudios7691. So to make a long story short:
I thought about having Henry going through a montage of him doing the story over and over again (in a similar manner to SMG4: WESTERN SPAGHETTI) after defeating beast bendy and seeing he somehow got the seeing tool. with the montage ending with Henry getting caught by the keepers and getting thrown to the pit where Henry discovers he's not what he thinks he was (during which his clothes and skin turn sepia toned) with a small Audrey cameo in the end (either at the beginning of dark revival or when she meets Henry). I also would have liked the film to have its own original content like flashbacks to that shows Henry living with his wife Linda (played by Daisy Haggard) and maybe his kids (if he has any).
For the lost ones casting, I thought it could be a funny jab at Hollywood celebrities casting and as for backshi, I thought it would be nice to have him return a bit to film directing to direct a film he might have wanted to do but never got to.

Its ironic how of all the fnaf like movies
Are five nights at Freddys is the most bloodless and scareless of all movies
Banana splits gave us gore
And willys wonderland gave us action dumn fun and Chucky like serial killers
banana splits was more based off a gore and scare factor. Willys was just anger management for nic cage. freddys was trying to encorperate as much as possible without overloading new viewers/Scott is still a Christian. he wouldnt want to make a super gore heavy movie anyways. not even the games are gore heavy in the slightest. pixelated blood, eyeballs, and a red screen is really all we *SEE*. we hear more gore than anything
Better late than ever
I certainly like the movie, especially as a big FNAF fan, but I wish more was done. I wanted more Shaggy.

I Respect Your Opinion But I Think This Movie Is Dissapointingly Meh
My Rating: 5/10
MatPat cameo: well, according to Patchwork Heart, he’s had some very controversial moments, including instances of transphobia, or at least transphobic comments, which I’m uncertain on whether or not he’s apologized for.
If you are talking about Scott Cawthon, no. He never made any bigoted comments. He donated to politicians that have controversial views on the LGTBQ and Scott was slandered as a homophobe. He explained his reasons for donating to them, which was for entirely different reasons. A better economy and a better military. Scott did not apologize because he didn't do anything to warrant an apology. He later donated 50k to the trevor project. A lot more money than what the politicians got. Scott's nothing like Animat and the rest of Twitter tried to paint him as. It's slanderous, bad faith and libel.

I don’t think think the movie is as bad as critics are saying (and calling it the worst movie of the year is DEFINITELY a stretch), but it still could’ve been much better if it wasn’t held back by the PG-13 rating
It could've still been good with a pg-13 rating, they needed to add more scenes of animatronics going after people

33:55 they also took stuff from the novel trilogy. For example, the way the animatronics learned William was their killer is the same way they learned so in "the Fourth closet" while Abby hiding from foxy in the arcade and the animatronics dragging William's body after the springlocks turned on him is similar to "the silver eyes". Heck, an animatronic mask in the likeness of Ella The doll also appears there.
You know what could worked better as the horror movie?
This may sound like a hot take I would rather see DreamWorks Trolls getting a live action horror movie treatment than Winnie the Pooh and Steamboat Willie. Poppy and her friends depticed as child kidnapping man eating Trolls🧌 as abducting and kidnapping little children and adults who wandered alone in the forest.
I would be very interested seeing it and laughed so hard at DreamWorks greedy ass off! It will totally butt hurt the stupid toxic fans. One day it will happen.
Your commentary is horrible honestly. In every aspect possible. About how long until we got to see the animatronics, to so much more. Many horrible takes.. Yes, its your opinion, but A LOT of people would agree with me.

Oh god! “Five Nights At Freddy’s” movie is really scary but I decided not to watch it and everyone would understand and respect my opinion at the same time
Honestly I feel like the FNAF PG-13 rating really hurt it esp since when u look into the lore of the story it deserved a R rating to do it properly but the problem is somehow FNAF got popular with kids so they were forced into significantly turning down.
the lore is R-rated but the games have always been more tame when it came to gore or violence. If you look at the game without any lore its robots trying to kill you. with the lore its "animatronics stuffed with the dead bodies of children try to hunt you down and stuff you into a freddy suit (killing you in the process as seen by your eyyeballs coming out of the suit) to get revenge on anyone who looks like the security guard". lots of possesion lots of murder lots of horror.
And in 24:46, we have the fnaf movie trying to reference that emotional scene from guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3. Y'know, the one where rocket, teeths, lyla and floor all lay on the floor in their cages and think about their desires.
Honestly, this movie disappointed me.

He was gonna be, but he was working on Iron Lung when they went to shoot cameos, so he couldn't do it at the time. He was suppose to be the first security guard we saw get axed during the cold open. Heard Scott has mentioned that he was going to try to get him back if they do a sequel though.

bro wym it was so short and he was lowkey w his voice and he damn near built these games’ story and the hype around theorizing about it
As a fan of the first 4 Fnaf games. I can totally understand why the film has a very divisive reception. I found the film to be ok in my opinion. I did enjoy the faithfulness of the games, and there were some intense moments, but I could agree the flaws is that there’s too much confusion going around in the plot. However, I did enjoy Matthew Lillard as Afton in the film. He did a talented job as a crazed murderer of this film. I am sick and tired of how film twitter acts toxic to the reception of the movie.
I like the matt pat cameo, what do you have against it.
How dare you 😡
25 minutes until we actually see Freddy and the other animatronics... ...that's the same amount of time it takes to finally see the Tunes in A New Legacy.
I'm serious, I never get why these films have to make dull characters the central focus and not the characters people are there to see.
