I was never expecting a perfect movie, and no one should have. I was merely expecting Five Nights at Freddy's, and that's what I got. And I am happy for it. I had fun with FNAF since 2015. The music, gameplays, and the numerous creepypastas for FNAF. And the movie did all of that justice for me. Of course the general public who don't know FNAF saw this as not making much sense. As I heard a few people saying when I was exiting the theater.

The movie definitely had a few issues but overall it was enjoyable. Matpat was the waiter who said "it's just a theory" and many of his fnaf theory videos correctly guessed the story which lead to the creator changing things, which gave us more wacky lore.
I definitely recommend you check them out. Maybe check out the king of fnaf Markiplier play the games.

Matthew Lillard was amazing in this movie. Been a long time since he starred in a horror flick since Thirteenth Ghost but the 2nd time playing a horror Villian since Scream 96. I also noticed the knife swipe right away when my family and i watched this movie last night. I loved this movie cant wait for Matthew Lillard to star in Stephen King's The Life of Chuck with Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill.

“It’s Me” is a phrase in the FNaF series, it debuted in the first game.
The games are about the jumpscares, they cant make an entire movie with jumpscares. The real scary factor about fnaf is the story. The story in fnaf 1 is the least scary one, but if they make sequels, there's many more horrifying stuff

That little toy of the kid with the ballon is a character from fnaf 2, called Balloon Boy. All he does is stand in your office, laugh at you, and prevents you from using your flashlight.

In the game in which he first appeared, he would steal your flashlights batteries making you unable to use it. It wasn't as much as dangerous as annoying really (for the most part excluding few moments).
In the movie, he just does a cheap annoying jumpscare. Fuck, I love Scott for this movie.

Facts that little fucker got me twice
Chica controls the cupcake which is why there is only five and not six. Also, the entire animatronic's grave for the kids well the bodies did smell which is why it was shut down. No one knew why it smelled but they thought it was malfunctioning. Also, in FNAF Lore William Afton dies from his Springlock Suit. One more thing... Mathew did look like William Afton if you think about.
Give Willy's Wonderland a watch for what is basically an R rated version of this with a Silent Nic Cage playing "The Janitor"...it is Glorious.

I wasn't really paying much attention to the beginning of this video, but the movie lore and story is different than the games' story and lore, as well as the book series'. It's not entirely different, but it's different.
It's like how the Super Mario movie is still in the same universe as the games, but follows a different continuity.
There's a metric ton of details and easter eggs in this movie that you can only truly appreciate if you were with the franchise from day 1 (for example, the dog animatronic that's in pieces in the back room is a reference to a popular hoax from the first game where an edited image got circulated claiming that there was a secret dog animatronic in the game called Sparky who would appear in the parts and service camera, which there wasn't).
Considering how well this movie is doing, I'd expect we'll see a sequel that focuses on the return of William Afton as "Springtrap", the possessed form of the spring Bonnie (yellow rabbit) suit. In the games, Purple Guy (as William was known, as his name didn't get revealed until much later on) wasn't an active character who appeared directly but instead was only referenced and then portrayed through 8-bit secret minigames in the prequel sequel FNAF2. He made his first physical appearance in FNAF3 (which was set 30 years after the original game) as a rotting corpse inside of the springlock suit. The 8-bit minigames in that game revealed that shortly after the first game, he returned to the pizzeria to dismantle the animatronics but in doing so, he released their ghosts which cornered him in a hidden safe room. He chose to hide himself inside the yellow rabbit suit but moisture dripping from the ceiling caused the springlocks to malfunction and he got killed inside the suit before being sealed away inside that room by the company.
Also an interesting thing to note: In the games, Mike Schmidt is a pseudonym, his real name is Michael Afton - the eldest son of William (and also Abby/Garret don't exist but he does have a different sister & brother). In the movie it seems as if they've removed that familial connection and instead given it to the character of Vanessa, who wasn't in the original games but is based on a character from the new games not made by the original creator. In those games, Vanessa (no last name given, except the initial of A) was a security guard (in the future) and potentially the protege of William operating under the name Vanny and donning a patchwork white rabbit suit (but that's a whole can of worms due to various things in those games suggesting that might not be the case) who also may or may not be related to him somehow.
Oh and one thing that I think you guys missed while watching (it's not really very well explained at all, so unless you knew about this character before hand there's a good chance you'd miss it) but the Freddy that goes to the house to pick up Abby and kills her aunt is, like the blonde child said, "Not Freddy" which is why it looks so damaged compared to the Freddy seen in the rest of the film. This character is known as "Golden Freddy" (if you look closely, you'll see that this one is more yellow than brown) who is more of a spectre than actual animatronic (though it's complicated) which is why it just disappears when they're outside. The blonde child spirit (who was a girl named Cassidy in the games, not a boy like in the movie) is also the most vengeful/aggressive of them all, which is why really only they talk whenever the ghost kids are present. I thought it was a bit weird how they didn't have them return for the final showdown given how important they are in the games.

Just friendly advice, do not use this movie as lore for the games, not only is most of the lore for the games unclear, but apparently this movie follows different lore than the games, but if it makes you feel any better nobody knows the full story of the games anyway

Balloon boy is that creepy statue thing. He was in the later games, I think since 2. One of the more hated creatures. They had to make it where people who have never played the game would understand what is happening. And it’s got a lot for the game players as well. As a fan of the games and story It was so good. The animatronics being friendly with Abby and that whole sequence of the fort was meant to make you remember that, even though they are scary murderous animatronics, they are also still just kids souls trapped inside. And even though it didn’t totally fit the games, it did fit for the job it had and didn’t do any real damage. Also, in the newer game, you play as a kid named Gregory, and Freddy actually helps you. So technically, it’s OK.
Right? I would like to mention Mangle's situation too:
In FNAF2, the new "Foxy" model (the next generation after this one) was taken appart and put together many, many, many times, by the little kids. To the point people gave up trying to fix her, and her body just looks like a gigantic mess. In all her voicelines, she sounds absolutely devasted, but even being as potentially dangerous as Foxy himself, with the "bonus" of having a body so mangled it could go anywhere and attack in any way she desired... she never did hurt a child. Of course, she would attack adults, but children, even having a very strong and convincing motivation to hurt them too (she sounds so traumatized, it's very sad), were totally safe with her.
As a fans I love this movie and love they're doing their own spin of the story and lore while keeping some part

Bro I knew Cory was in movie cause of trailer but I wasn’t expecting matpatt. I screamed when I saw him. But I honestly loved Cory’s Cameos better tho I was laughing out loud. But I loved the end creds scenes with living tombstones fnaf 1 song stopping with Cory getting jump scared by Baloon boy. Had me crying

I feel like that the movie was missing more gore. FNAF just feels like the type of franchise that would have it with all the murders that happen in it.
The FNAF series has never been about gore, ever since the beginning. There is rarely any blood in the games, like ever. It's more about suspense and the story.

First of all, the small dall from the jumpscares is called Balloon Boy and he's a character from FNAF 2, he was an animatronic in the game that took one of the functions away from you if you didn't avoid him and he's hated by pretty much the whole fanbase LOL
Also, I feel like the movie could've done better at presenting some parts of the lore like the springlock suits or William Afton himself, have some better buildup yk? I also want to say that the lore in the games is diferent from the movie, I still don't know exactly why they changed it up but I definitely enjoyed the movie a lot as a fan!
I do agree with how they presented Afton, but the lore isn’t too different from the game, except for small things like Vanessa being Afton’s daughter. Then again I could be wrong so correct me if that’s the case.
@@a_person_is_on_this_account No, you're totally right, Vannessa is not even supposed to be an adult at that point in the timeline but I think it was a nice way to add her in. There's also other details like Mike's backstory, he didn't bully his brother into getting his head bitten of by a giant bear for starters, and he's not related to the Afton family directly so that's also diferent.
I don't think it's too diferent but there's just these little details that are a very important part of the story so just to let people know that the movie and the games could go in two very diferent directions from one another.

I highly recommend y’all educate yourselves on the lore. However I’ll say this, not everything that happened in the movie goes in-tandem with with the games. There are many lore explanation videos out there, but I would recommend y’all watch the gameplay of the games. (At least from FNAF1 to Ultimate Custom Night as that is a more contained story. The stuff during FNAF VR and Security Breach go beyond the contained storyline)
This movie was made for the fans and expected many of the people watching to know most of the main lore bits.
