The HR Derby has kinda gone the way of the NBA dunk contest. It used to be the cream of the crop names. Now it’s just the good guys who happen to say yes. Dunk contest is worse because a G League guy won in the last couple years.
Yall act like Gunnar doesn’t hit absolute piss rockets. And for anyone who thinks Gunnar doesn’t bring excitement to baseball is either just a stankee fan or just don’t simply watch Baltimore baseball

As a dodgers fan, no, I don't want ohtani to screw up his swing in some pointless exhibition. Last time he did a home run derby he performend much worse afterwards. Baseball is too hard of a sport to be practicing it completely wrong like that.

Acuna wasn’t playing anywhere near his previous year and the team overall outside of Ozuno hasn’t played good at all.
Bring back the 10 out system for the derby. Let us actually see the ball going out. Also bring the camera back. Can't appreciate the trajectory of the ball coming off the bat when the camera is zoomed in all the way to the batters box. Do this and I'll watch again.
If they actually enforced the ball landing rule for the format that’s been going on it would actually work out well. They just don’t or barely have an actual break from one swing to the next. 10 out system I liked but I prefer the timed system if they fixed the cameras. Gotta see the arc of the ball going out, not the swing then ball landing from far out.
My idea is divisional supremacy. 2 guys from each division and it's tag team format. You do East v East, Central v Central, West v West. Combined hr out of 2 minutes each, with bonuses. The 3 divisions left just do highest score wins after that. 12 players, 12 teams, everyone gets someone to watch.
What about my arch rival and I: knocked me for 2-run HR in the 2nd, but then I proceeded to strike him out with the bases loaded 3 times......? who owns who there? 1-4 with 1 HR, 2RBI and 3 Ks to give you the line. final score was my win 5-3.
75% K rate is PWNED haha but sample size too small! On a single game case study I'd say you killed it because sabermetrically speaking teams really should score most of the time with bases loaded. But again, one game shows almost nothing really... As a Mariners fan, sadly I would love a batter that hits .250 with power. Honestly fuck it, I'll take THREE of them hahaha. That game your rival batted .250 but the OPS is 1.250!

Give me a wiffleball HR derby with pitchers only. Also, let's go back to everyone wearing their own team's uniform. Throw a patch on there and maybe put a star on one of the shoulders (their non-throwing shoulder, like the teams all have now) and let it be. No more "special" uniforms.
People get off on complaining ? It’s legitimate criticism. MLB has had steadily declining viewership numbers for decades now. It’s a legitimate conversation. Rule changes are a step in the right direction. You’re lying if you think these 8 guys are the best story possible. I can't say with certainty that's what happened, as we know he was voted in by the players but he has said he won't participate in the Derby if he doesn't get All-Star honors in the past.
