@@taylorschreiber1842 No, they have different husbandry requirements. The hognose needs higher humidity than the kenyan, which is a desert snake. Also some difference in the temp. Kenyans like it a bit hotter.
Sand Boas all the way! I love them. I have two, a male and female. My female is just the most therapeutic creature ever. So calm and excepting of handling. She comes with me to the pet store and will just hang out in my jacket hood or in my hand.
@@ges4934 She also has been trained to know when food is here. I crinkle the paper bag the mouse came in, and she pops her head out of the aspen. then when she sees the bag she crawls up the glass and waits for me to hand her dinner.
I got my first snake about 6 months and I love my hognose. He’s the cutes best boy. Also watching him eat is so funny and one of the things that drew me to them. He was suggested to me over any other snake to start and I would highly agree. He is a gem.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this Head to Head Battle! Great job Clint like always. You are actually one of my favourite channels on RUclips! My Blue Tongue Skink also loves the channel!
When I worked in a reptile store, the hognose were always the most difficult snakes to feed. Ball pythons never gave anywhere near the amount of issues despite the reputation. Sand boas were usually okay, especially rough scaled sand boas.
Thanks Clint and totally stinkin rad team! I got my hoodie in GREEN and my question on these totally awesome reptiles answered. I still after 4 years of reading/watching/talking to breeders still don't have a reptile! I think i have done enough homework lol. These two snakes are the ones that i have been mulling over the most and its totally fantastic that you put them head to head. And now i know my answer.... get both lol.
I love both! I personally chose a sand boa since they don’t hiss or get fussy like most hoggies do, which could be spooky to a first time snake owner :) just something to consider😄
I started watching your videos trying to pick a lizard for my son. I went down the video hole and am now dying for a snake even though I’ve always had a fear. That little hog nose is adorable.
You're just so fun to watch! It's probably because of your passion and fascination with what you do but it makes the watcher fall in love and get enticed by it too! It's packed with great info but it's so fun - way better than school! Great work!
I have a little male hognose. He is about a year old and still has some growing to do :). I can't believe how far he has come in the time I have had him.
Ahh these are the snakes I'm trying to decide between for my first snake! I love hognose faces so much I don't think they even need morphs to be gorgeous. Thank you for all your super fun and super informative videos!
You have no idea how much I look forward to your bloopers. Always a fun and funny video but even funnier bloopers every time. Thank you, you always make me laugh
I just love your videos. They always make me smile and your excitement is so infectious. I just got a KSB, but I really had a hard time choosing between the two. I just might need a Hognose now!
I’m totally going to get Kenyan Sand boas! I’m in Missouri and so Hognose snakes are venomous native snakes and require a permit and inspections etc. Plus I absolutely love the idea of a buried snake. I own tarantulas and several of them are just kinda like owning a hole so a little face will be a step up!
Love this video! I've debated between the two for quite some time. I am leaning towards the KSB because the hognose is technically venomous and my body tends to overreact to small things. I do love the little hognose face though.
XiongMaoPanda keep in mind that a hognose bite is exceedingly rare unless they mistake you for their mouse. Realistically, all you have to do is get a captive bred and feed it with tweezers in a separate tub.
We just discovered your channel! You've got some great videos! We often have Kenyan Sand Boas at our store and love it when all you can see is their lips poking out of their bedding!
I got a crested gecko after seeing a few of your videos and deciding I thought that was the best first reptile for me (and of course I did more research after deciding to make sure I knew proper care) and his name is Ian Malcolm and I love him. He's thriving and eating great for me and already is adjusting really well to handling. Thanks for helping me find the perfect reptile for me! My next one is going to be a hog nose for sure.
I find it weird my sand boa loves exploring and basking and going all over the place. I love looking at his substrate and you can see where he's been at night and I love saying he is having a party because it looks like it!
I just got two and the male (5months) is often on the move -he came out of a tub and now has a 50x50x125cm enclosure which he seems to love moving around in. Very cool snakes!
got this video from the In Case You Missed it Monday, and let me tell you. I LOVED IT! you were so enthusiastic about the snakes, when you said “you should just get both” I burst out laughing!
Great video!! For your next video you should just do imatations of different snake species eating. Like at the end of this video 🤣🤣 I'm sure it would go viral LoL
Aww darn, wish my mom would let me keep snakes 😂 The thing I love most about these 2 snakes is that their head is treamline with there body. Makes them look even more like a noodle! 😂 When I move out I'm definitely getting one of these, if not both!
Personally, I’d get a female hognose snake if I was forced to choose. They have a reputation for being a bit sassy, but I’d take a snake with a bit of attitude over one that stays buried 24/7.
My heart stings whenever I think about how I picked my blue tongue skink over a hognose for now. And my heart would probably sting if I chose the other way around as well! One day!
I was so scared of holding a snake up until a week ago at a reptile store the second snake I held I wasn't scared of at all which sounds silly I'm 28 but I fell madly in love with a beautiful 2 month old albino kenyan sand boa and my daughter loves it to. I fell in love with its adorable face and cute little eyes. I know they hide alot but it's helped me over come a fear of holding snakes which stems from my fear of worms. I'm so glad I got it I get so excited when he pops out of the substrate and I hold him.
I was literally trying to decide on either and then found your video! and then i was like oh im already subscribed from a long time ago xD Thank you for the video!
I prefigure hog nose, but i haven't kept either yet, I only have one snake at the moment and that is my lil boa babes Lumie, who is a common boa constrictor and is 7 months old.
A joyful head to head! I watch a lot of snake discovery videos and somehow I never realized the sexual dimorphism in hognoses was so extreme! Very cool
Just beware to new owners of Kenyan sand boas: you might hear they don't climb. Don't believe it. Our nutty noodle climbs like you wouldn't believe half the time. Always has. This is actually how he escaped once, about two months after we got him, right after Christmas. (We ended up finding him two days later in my empty Christmas stocking under the tree.) So yeah, just beware. (Still love him to death, they're fantastic little snakes! And such an adorable, derpy face!)
@@audreyabby74Hognose snakes are super expensive now. because a lot of creators (fairly) showed off how awesome they are people want them, but they take a while to breed. supply is struggling to meet demand so they're a bit pricey now. on the bright side of getting popular though is that they're also being bred more so prices are starting to stabilize. still not cheap at all, but not nearly as bad as they were. the market will always change though so they might get cheaper or more expensive depending on when you get them. that's just for the snake themselves, care wise the price will stay the same.
😂😂😂 I started dying when the dude started talking about how he looks like he does coke😂😂 I apologize but you do😂😂😂 nah thanks for the good video I’m gonna buy a sand boa
kenyan sand boas are really cool but i gotta say hognoses are my favorite, i love their dorky (but cute) faces and feisty personalities (: i hope to own one someday, they’re my favorite kind of snake!
Kenyan Sand Boa is the one to buy. They eat all the time they hardly refuse a meal. You can have many in one room and it doesn't smell when they poop or pee. They are very hardy and you can probably feed them once a month and they can go without water for a month I'm sure since they come from dessert areas where there isn't much. They are not expensive buy and or keep as a pet. They come in many color mutations. In case you didn't know they wag their tail like a dog when you rub a frozen thawed mouse on there lower back. You won't be disappointed with a Kenyan Sand Boa.
From what I've heard of hoggies they don't seem to enjoy handling - though all snakes are individuals! I've wanted a KSB for years due to the first one I held being so sweet. I love mine :]
I do love both the hog nose and the sand boa but the hog nose is the one I would go for due to seeing it.more often and I love their cute face , attitude uniqueness and character
