You are that ray of sunshine which keeps inspiring every small biz owner, I genuinely wait for your videos and watch them while I work. You are a true inspiration and going great
I really love when you actually make candles in your videos. I miss these!!!! Yes, all the business stuff is good to know, but some of us just love candle making videos and we need that haha
Just thought I’d share a little piece of wisdom I picked up along the way, it’s probably that you just use the word “bind” loosely but there are many candle makers who do think that the fragrance and wax molecules “bind” together. In reality they don’t, when wax is heated it obviously goes from solid to liquid, creating space between the wax molecules and allowing them move around more freely. When we add fragrance oil we are actually creating a “homogenous mixture” which basically means that the wax molecules and fragrance molecules are evenly distributed around the mixture. Imagine adding salt to water, if you just pour salt in it sinks to the bottom, but when you mix it, the salt dissolves and you can no longer see it in the water, but when you taste it, it’s salty. This is because you’ve created a homogenous mixture where the particles of water and salt are evenly distributed throughout the mixture (just google a diagram of a homogenous mixture as I’ve butchered the explanation) But yeah, wax and fragrance doesn’t “bind” it just mixes evenly throughout, depending on the wax type, the hotter the wax is the easier it is blend the fragrance oil into a homogenous mixture. Hope that helps to anyone who sees this, I feel like it’s easier to understand how the candles work once you know this little tidbit of information. Great video as always Erica, glad you are all doing well, hope to continue to see you succeed!
Thank you for this video. I find myself enjoying jar prepping more...somehow it's calming for me😅Always appreciate your transparency. Love the long hair btw
Soo good to see you back making some candles !!! I was so super excited to watch this video ! Love your hair it’s super pretty 🥰 Thank you for making this video I really enjoyed it 😊
Hi Ericka! I see you’re doing great. I learned with the best! You really helped me through this journey and I’m so glad and grateful with you. Thank you so much 😊
Woohoo 🎉 Congrats on your motherhood. I watch all of your videos because I am starting a candle business called, The Maine Candle Factory 😊 I just poured 20 candles but while they cure I'm not sure they will turn out okay. My intention was to finish off my beeswax but I didn't have enough so I melted 6 pounds, 2lb beeswax, 2lbs of 444 soy and 2lbs of coconut oil. Not sure how they will turn out but I need to narrow down my 12 vessels and test out my 12 fragrances. Thank you for so much information ✌️
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Turns out they burn way too hot 😂I did two - 4 hour burns and the 6oz tin has no wax left. I am going to do a different soy/beeswax blend next and am narrowing down my large vessels that I will use. Currently I have 12 types/sizes with two more on the way (yikes!). Would you please let me know if you don't mind, how I can take photos and overlay different labels in the photos? I am not a Photoshop expert and when I tried, it pretty much looked like I took a stock photo and tried to past my label photo into it haha. Thank you for any advice
What is the measurements of those jars? I really want to get those wick accessories but I am in my testing phase at the moment. Using notion to keep track! love that app. I plan on being in this phase for awhile. I am still waiting for some things i did order from carpelink from etsy. They probably get so many orders! Love your hair long! thanks girl for all the vids!
Yesss loved this I enjoy watching your channel and learning. I sniff my candles as well house be smelling good when I make them. In my process testing a new wax company and different wicks from Hive and Honey it’s in my state trying to cut some costs. I have my scents I will be using. Starting to sell real soon. Thanks for the content.
Hey Erica! First off, happy to see you back in the lab 😂😂 Quick question, when I make something, I use a silicone cup for my FO also. However, when I put it in my wax, it is never the amount I originally weighed it as. How do you combat this issue?
This could mean a small amount is leftover as residue in the bottom of the silicone cup. Is it a super small amount? Less than 1 gram? I will sometimes overpour .5 of a gram to account for the small amount that will inevitably "stick" to the bottom of the cup
Thank you so much! When I started the company I knew I wanted to really emphasize the nostaglia component to candles, so most of my candles have a story behind them. Now I have been trying to slowly transition to focusing on the customer creating their own future nostalgia through our scents. I realize now that I have been very "me centered" and I want to start focusing on the customer and their memories/stories. I spent quite a while thinking of different themes/niches/ideas for my candle brand. I had an open notes section on my phone and added ideas to it that came to mind until I finally chose the one that I felt connected to the most!
Oh so i dont need to wait until the temp gets down? Im using a beesoy blend and it says to heat to 85 degree Celsius and add frangrance at 75 then pour around 65 +/-5. Newbe candle maker here 😊
Hi Ericka! I missed you my 😊virtual friend! 1* I am making candles but I want to mix it with bees wax since I make beeswax wraps as well but I don’t know what percentage of wax To add To the soy 10 wax but I don’t know how many grams of bees wax and what temperature! 2 * I want to mix 2 fragrance oils but if I add 1098g of fragrance should I divide that amount of grams by 2 ? So 1098 dived by 2=549 g of each fragrance? 😅me using my math that I never was good at it! My jars are the same size jar that you are using in this video! Help me pleaseeee❤ we miss you glad you are back but we know being a mommy is the most important job right now! Hugs for you my virtual good friend!❤
Hi! Oh goodness, are you just using 1098g of FO as an example? Or are you making a HUUUGE batch of candles at once? In terms of blending fragrances, if you choose to do a 50/50 blend then yes you would just do half of each fragrance! But you can do whatever kind of blend you want! A lot of blending, whether it’s wax or FO comes down to personal preference and testing!
Well we heat the wax pretty hot and depending on how much wax I will be measuring in the pitcher I’ll hit it with a heat gun real quick. I find that heating the wax to 200 allows for the FO to bind at that 185-190ish mark :)

I got the notification that the guide was ready, and I bought it immediately! I can not wait to dive right in. Thanks so much! ❤❤❤
Ah thank you!! I am so excited and grateful to have you! 🥰 feel free to email me with any feedback or questions!
I’m making Mocha tins while listening to you. Finally up 6 at time! Love the baby love stories.
That's great!!
Nice to see you ! Cdn 4 seems small but I’m sure you tested throughly!! I can see your a happy mama .
It seems to work well with most lighter oils but for the more dense/heavy oils we use CDN 5 :)
And thank you! ☺️❤️
Great to see you back ! BTW that was the first video I saw of you in Feb when I started researching LOL !
Oh I love that! ❤️
8.30 pm is considered afternoon in Greece 😎😃
Thank youuu Ericka,Good luck with the baby is hard work 😓

Thank you so much!
It was nice to see you making candles again. What kind of table/surface are you using to pour on?
Thank you! And it’s an adjustable table from IKEA!
Hi Ericka,
Are you keeping the leftover wax in the pouring pitcher warm while using the piston funnel?
Should I buy a candle making kit or should I buy each item separately? What do you suggest?
Hi Erica, good to see you back 😊. Do you still blend with beeswax? X
We do with our other sized candles! ☺️

Hi Erica. How do you charge wholesale from the retail ?
Kindly make a video on faire promoted listings ASAP
Yes I have this planned! I wanted to give it a least 3-4 months though to have a decent amount of data!
Hi, If I'm using 1000kg of soy wax, how much fragrance oil should i put using an 8oz bottle?
If I over pour wax or fo, I use my disposable plastic droppers I bought on Amazon. Then I toss. 5.99 for a pack of 200 I think

@@MemoryBoxCandleCo do you have any videos mixing it with bees wasp? I think you said 10 % was too much for your own preference?
Where do you purchase your CDN wicks?
Hive and honey candle co :)
What kind of spray you are using for clean jars
Just regular rubbing alcohol!
Do you worry about your wax cooling down too quick after pouring in fo?
Well we heat the wax pretty hot and depending on how much wax I will be measuring in the pitcher I’ll hit it with a heat gun real quick. I find that heating the wax to 200 allows for the FO to bind at that 185-190ish mark :)
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo ok cuz that’s been a concern for me. Think I’ve got it figured out but was curious if it was just me
Hi which wax do you use ?
soy 10! we do a custom soy 10/beeswax blend for our other size candles
What temp did you pour at? Was it 185?
We don't really pour at any certain temp! It's probably between 175-185 though!
Hi Erika, you pour but not beewax just reminding in case you forget.. 🙌
Thank you I know I forgot last time lol! These actually don’t get any beeswax though!
Ok , good night. God, continue 🙌 🙌
Im wanting to start a business im getting ready to set up my name
Did you put beeswax?
These don’t get beeswax actually :)
