You know, something I just noticed is that in the end of the movie Ray Liotta’s character tells James Earl Jones’ character that he is invited to follow the rest of the baseball players into the corn field (heaven I would assume). In real life Ray Liotta passed away first and now Mr. Jones has too passed away. It’s almost eerie and bittersweet how that coincidence happened.
Whenever I want a feel-good movie, I watch Field of Dreams 🫶. It's so wholesome and inspiring, makes me think of my late father. He loved baseball too 😢. Thanks so much ladies
Fun Fact: This is unofficially Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's first movie. They were extras in the games filmed at Fenway. They got a chance to speak to Kevin Costner and ask career advice. Like Rocky being a love story and not a boxing film, this film is about forgiveness and family and not baseball.
The first thing I was taught when I learned how to catch a ball was to watch it all the way into the mitt. I love how Ray caught the ball and just cherished that it was from his Dad
This is an example of a movie that has a soul. It hits so hard with how much emotion it produces in such a quick amount of time. This movie is beautifully shot, but emotionally is just on another level. I adore this movie and I will tear up each and every single time at the end. I had a lump in my throat when the music swelled up and he asked to play catch. I hope you wind up watching The Sandlot as well. Great movie with an appearance from the great James Earl Jones.
It's such a great movie. It always gets to you. Another fun fact: (A couple of facts...) they kept the farm and ball field in the cornfield that were built for the film, and it became a tourist attraction. And a few years ago, MLB built a "major league suitable" field with up to date lights and grandstands nearby, and they've played a few "Field of Dreams" themed actual games between major league teams. For the first one, Kevin Costner came out of the cornfield to throw out the first pitch.
The Greatest actors, James Earl Jones, Burt Lancaster and Ray Liotta all in this movie. Kevin Costner too! I cried so much with this movie. So sweet, happy and sad. I agree with ya'll, "If you build it they will come." Incredible ending!
Such a lovely reaction, ladies. Thank you so much for sharing. Honestly I want to say a lot more but suffice to say I appreciate your content and what I believe is its multi-layered purpose. Much love 💗
"Field of Dreams": A "Baseball story" that can reduce strong men to tears, then call up their father. And it came to pass that the Field of Dreams movie set continues to draw people "who lack peace of mind" to reconnect with family while playing Baseball. "Terence Mann" is standing in for J.D. Salinger, who refused to be associated with this move. (Idiot!) "Is this Heaven? Yes, it's Iowa." Note: "Moonlight" Graham was a real Baseball player who became a doctor.
I grew up about 45 minutes from the Field of Dreams site. I have taken each of my kids there to "have a catch". My high school banner is hanging in the back ground of the book burning scene. I believe this was filmed in Dubuque, IA because they were in the same Division. The site now is too commercial for my taste. Back when I took my kids, it cost nothing and they still to this day keep the field in shape.
5:43 "There were eight of us". Shoeless Joe was implicated in the famous World Series fix of 1919. The White Sox (his team) was a very heavy favorite over Cincinnati, and lost. Eight members, in liding Joe, were banned from baseball for life. There's a pretty good movie that came out in the late-80s or 90s called Eight Men Out that puts it into better perspective if one doesn't want to deep dive reading material.
It is so amazing how this book/movie came to be. WP Kinsella really did see his father’s name in a JD Salinger story. That lead him to use a fictional version of the author in his story. Salinger did not appreciate that and threatened legal action if they used his likeness in the movie. And Kinsella really was looking in a baseball encyclopedia and came across the Moonlight Graham page. The ½ inning and no at bats intrigued Kinsella and he looked deeper into his story. Every story about Doc Graham was true… only a few details about his baseball career and timeline were altered. Those two events were the genesis of this story and this is one of the finest book to movie adaptations ever.
The line actually was "If you build it HE will come"... not "they". And as it turns out, the "he" was his father, not Shoeless Joe as Ray originally thought.
Such a nice reaction, especially for the ending. It was too bad that all the cars lined up after all the players left for the night! Another film along the same theme came out the same year by Steven Spielberg "Always" (1989). Starring: Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, John Goodman and Audrey Hepburn! You'll love it too!
in the sequel they get sued, lose their farm, and go to prison because they didn't have the proper permits, licensing, insurance, and port-a-potties for that large a gathering of people.
Storm, I think the music you were trying to figure out where you'd heard it before, it's kind of similar to Back to the Future. Not the same but they used music similar to it in some scenes kind of like in this movie.
At 17:45 you mentioned a series of notes that was familiar to you. Just so happens that I’ve watched several reaction videos for this movie, and someone said that some of the music in this movie reminded them of the score in Shawshank Redemption. It’s possible that was it?
Terrance Mann (James Earl Jones) didn’t not pass. He’s an author/writer…and people always bugged him on when he was going to write again. That’s why he was so angry when Ray first showed up. He was invited to see what was out there (cornfield). It was a subtle line that everyone misses. Ray asks him “are you going to write about this?” This is so people across the country will read about the field (like Karen said, people will come), and Ray will be able to keep the field.
Good reaction by both of you. This is an emotional family movie set in the world of historical baseball. The movie is an adaptation of Canadian writer W.P. Kinsella's first novel, Shoeless Joe. And MLB has celebrated this movie, and here's an example of what has been done: ruclips.net/video/Ug4bsd4LqqM/видео.html
I'm really disappointed at how many important things you edited out of this - I feel like I'm being speed-walked through it! I hope you enjoyed it, though.
Hi gibsongirl! I totally understand the shorter video, but I have to follow copyright laws. Reaction videos can only have 10 minutes of copyrighted movies/shows... and this video pushed 30 minutes. Honestly a lot of channels push Fair Use until they get in trouble. You can check out our FULL Length Reaction on our Patreon though if you want to watch along with us. Thanks for being a fan!
RIP James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta and the great Burt Lancaster. An iconic movie. I cry every time.
I must have seen this movie easily 100+ times and I still ugly cry every single time. James Horner's score is a big part of it.
Sweet reaction. James Earl Jones walking into the cornfield hits differently after his passing. ❤
I lost my Dad 6 years ago. I would give anything to have a catch with him again.
Lost my dad 3 years ago and I would give anything as well
RIP James Earl Jones & Ray Liotta. You were True Actors.
James Earl Jones will forever be missed. Rest in Peace King James!
I hought he talked funny. :)
The Voice didn't mention that they'd have to build a car park too. Sheesh.
"HEY ROOKIE! YOU WERE GOOD!" gets me everytime
Now, watch James Earl Jones again in The Sandlot. Another Baseball movie of him.
I've seen it a million times, but I cried along with Mom. Never fails to get me.

James Earl Jones was phenomenal in this movie. Rest in peace man .
I love this movie, and it never fails to make me cry. Having both Bert Lancaster and James Earle Jones in the same movie…..it doesn’t get much better.
I'm 75. I cry at the end every time. Thanks for honoring James Earl Jones and an enjoyable reaction video.

I look forward to playing catch with my dad. The girl is my mother in 1932.

R.I.P To a Great James Earl Jones,You Will Be Missed

This always brings me to tears. One of my favorite movies. Magic.
RIP James Earl Jones, The Man Behind Darth Vader and Mufasa
Fun fact. At the Red Sox game, a very young Matt Damon and Ben Aflack are in the stands as extras
I think their appearance in this movie is what took it from great to legendary.
Such a lovely reaction, ladies. Thank you so much for sharing. Honestly I want to say a lot more but suffice to say I appreciate your content and what I believe is its multi-layered purpose. Much love 💗

It's been 50 years since I had a catch with my dad. We're both quite older now, but I'd love to have just one more.
Don't cry Mom 😢😢
I lost my mom 3 months ago. We used to sit and watch all her favorite shows/movies/music, and with her mom crying, I joined in too!

This is a real place in Iowa now…….It’s a huge tourist destination now……Major League Baseball plays a real game there once a year……..A magical movie

At no time in the movie does anyone say, "Ifyou build it, they will come."
The stories of moonlight graham are not only true, the people retelling them were his friends from real life. 😊
30:02 everyone cries here. 😢😊❤ so touching
Goodbye James Earl Jones
Check out the film ‘Eight Men Out’ (1988).
Great Reactions Ladies ❤❤❤❤

"Price of Dreams " GREAT sequel.
@@johnmoreland6089 Bob Barker should've been nominated.
Lol!!
Another great reaction. Waiting for your reaction to Haiche, a Dog's Tale.

This really happened in Iowa, minus the supernatural.

Close encounters of the third kind. Movie
Kind freaky how our government is behaving a lot like what this movie warned us about fascism.

No one ever comments on Eva Braun...Mrs. Adolf Hitler
Poor editing, too many key scenes left out.
