Yeah, when Ramin raises his voice he sounds ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING (seriously, I feel sorry for his kids whenever he had to scold them) but that’s one of reasons that makes him the best actor to play Erik (The Phantom) what he can do with his voice, he can go from being so seductive to outright terrifying.
When I first played this video, I didn't realize the Phantom was Ramin. I skipped to All I Ask of You, and when I heard the Phantom's part, I thought, Wow, THIS Phantom is excellent! Then I read the comments and discovered it was Ramin 🤣. No wonder Webber chose him to originate Love Never Dies and to perform in the 25th anniversary

I know a lot of fans love Ramin and Sierra paired up as Christine and Erik (the phantom) but I’d say Gina Beck was his best Christine. I mean Sierra’s voice is beautiful, there’s no denying that, but it doesn’t have the same sweet child-like innocence to it that Gina’s voice has, which contrasts with Ramin’s strong powerful voice, but in a good way. (similar to how Emmy’s sweet youthful innocent voice and Gerard’s deep gravelly voice perfectly contrasted with each others in the movie) I personally think it’s a really good artistic take, it helps emphasize how Christine is light and Erik (the phantom) is dark.
Yes I never hear people talking about this, as much as people hate on the movie I thought Emmy and Gerard were a really good pairing, and Emmys young voice works so well for Christine, she's supposed to appear as naive and sweet, whereas Sierra and even Sarah Brightman sound a little too mature in my opinion. All have excellent voices though.
Gerard and Emmy were AMAZING in their roles, idc what hateful snobs have to say. They both nailed the acting and singing aspect of the movie, and I’ve adored it since I was 8 years old. Thank you for showing appreciation for the movie cast!! 💗🙌
9 September 2008; London, UK Ramin Karimloo (Phantom), Gina Beck (Christine), Simon Bailey (Raoul), Kate Radmilovic (Carlotta), Gareth Snook (André), Barry James (Firmin), Rohan Tickell (Piangi), Heather Jackson (Mme Giry), Tori Johns (Meg)
I read that the forst option for the anniversary was JOJ (and honestly he would have been amazing too) but he refused. Watching this I think was good choice Ramin he has more chemistry with Sierra Boggess, and Gina Beck's acting alongside JOJ is even better than with Ramin (just my opinion)
This exact production was my first experience of phantom. An experience I'm so thankful I've lived. Today watching your video I realized that I still remember all the actors one by one. How lucky I feel! ...and what to say about Ramin Karimloo. Are there any words? Thank you for uploading this!
So good to see the original show at it's very best. What a shame that London has only half the orchestra now and a lot of scene changes that cheapen it. Thank god many of us saw it as it was. But in a way I'm glad a version of it still exists in London at its home. Thank you for this recording. So rich in sound. Fabulous. Xx
Here’s hoping the American version returns to Broadway after they’ve tinkered with the staging and pace. They need to strip it down and make it less prohibitably expensive. That’s the real reason it closed. Despite good audience attendance, the production was hemorrhaging money. Rent on the Majestic was ridiculous. It’ll be back. I believe RUG, ALW, and MacIntosh will introduce it once it’s eligible for a Best Renewal Tony award.
@@redvelvetrose Thankyou for your comments. Yes I really hope the show returns to New York too. I saw ALW talking about the extortionate costs each week to keep the show running on Broadway. But having seen the new London version a few times now I have to say you can really feel the difference having ten less musicians. It was so controversial here when all the cast and crew were fired during Covid. The perfect excuse to cut as much as they could. They did the same to Les Mis here too. Anyway I could go on. I'm just happy this great show is still here for now. And I hope NYC sees the return very soon. Xx
I had never heard of Gina Beck before, but I actually think I prefer her to Sierra. Sierra has a great voice, but I don't think it's a good match for Christine, who's supposed to be gentle, scared, and sweet. She sounds and acts too independent. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but for me the best cast is the one from the movie, and Gina sounds quite like Emmy Rossum, conveying all Christine's youthfulness, fear and insecurity.
I completely agree with you!😊 Sierra’s voice is beautiful you can’t deny that, but it doesn’t have the innocent tone Emmy and Gina’s voices have. Ironically, when Sierra did The Little Mermaid, she had that innocent tone in her voice, but for some reason wasn’t able to bring it to the role of Christine.
I totally agree, I much prefer Gina’s softer innocent voice for Christine’s role! Gina and Emmy both had that style and it perfectly suited Christine 💗
Thank you very much. I saw this performance in London in 2009 and didn't know Christine's name, so I've been looking for it until now. I found out thanks to you. Thank you very much.
I hate his Screaming 'Go Now and Leave me' Even Michael managed to make that sound somewhat Lyrical while conveying the torment. but Ramin is just abusing his Vocal chords there!
okay but consider.. he’s literally breaking down in that moment - similar to when he’s screaming ‘damn you, curse you’, that’s not *meant* to be pretty and lyrical; it’s actually terrifying and shows the other side to his personality. i understand what you’re saying, but that’s just my analysis on it - i don’t think it’s *meant* to sound lyrical.
This RUclipsr didn’t record this performance, this is a recording that other RUclipsrs have put up before. I don’t think anyone knows who the original recorder was.
This a really an Above, a decent production, buttt the video-agraffer should be…given their walking papers!!! Sorry, dear working person, you’re there to caption the stage and faces not the … feet!!!

That was the most chilling mask reveal scene ever where she tears off his mask for the first time. I’ve never seen anything like it and I’m obsessed.
There’s a reason why before 25th catapulted him that Ramin was considered the best
Yea

Ramin has such a clear voice 😊

Ramin is my favorite. Richard Todd Adams was my first phantom. Gerard Butler was decent.
