    nice tool , good idea and thanks for sharing. Now my question, your outer end or length of dowel is determine by where your wheel well outer lip correct? that would help in choosing what length dowel I presume. My 67 has a wider axle by 2 inch but it has widen steel flares by 1'' 1/4'', this will help me a lot in figuring what I can fit in the well.
    since this is an older post I may not get a response but hey, it's worth a try thanks.

    Wheels look amazing. What backspacing did you end up going with for your wheels? Do you have a mini-tub?

    • @arobsgarage6672
      @arobsgarage6672  3 года назад

      Yes, I have Detroit Speed mini tubs. Running a 4.125" backspace on the rear wheels.

      @@arobsgarage6672 so your rear wheels are 18x11 with a 4.125 backspace? can you please tell me your front and rear wheel and tire specs? do you know what your overall rear end width is? is your front suspension stock style or like a tci pro ifs front? Thank you so much!

    Great idea. Is the BS really 4 1/8 since you are using the 12" rod for an 11" rim. Should the BS be reduced by 1/2" for 1/2 the difference in 11 vs 12??

    • @arobsgarage6672
      @arobsgarage6672  3 года назад

      you would think since they don't the outside lip for the wheels size, but no. In this case the outside flange is used. BS of a wheel is measured by placing the wheel on its front face, then taking a straight edge and placing it along the back side of the wheel, and measuring from wheel mounting hub to the bottom of the straight edge.

    assuming the suspension is at load?

    • @arobsgarage6672
      @arobsgarage6672  3 года назад +1

      yes, I had the jackstands under the rear end housing. The suspension needs to be under load. Same for front suspension. best to do fronts with the shocks and springs removed so you can adjust the range of motion to check clearances

    What brand are those wheels? They look great

    Wouldn’t need to do all that if you didn’t want conistoga wheels and fork truck tires.
