Great list. I really want to try Above and Below and Viticulture. I have Now or Never pre-ordered and excited for it. If you're in the US, Wingspan seems to be in Target these days if anyone is having issues finding it. Target also has the new edition of 7 Wonders and Catan. Yes! Above and Below is amazing! Still one of my favorites! Have you had a chance to try Near and Far yet? I also really enjoy Empires of the Void II and Islebound by Ryan Laukat! He also has a small game called Roam which is surprisingly thinky but light on rules. Thanks for the video!

Wonderful list! I own all of your top 10 save for Above and Below I like Tiny Towns best with 2 players, have you played it that way? It has brought my entire extended family together like nothing else.
The hobby is seriously so amazing! 🥰 Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the list. We have played Tiny Towns two player! My boyfriend and I always try out (if we can) games when we first get them just the two of us to learn it and see how it plays two players! It was fun! I will have to check out all that stuff for Viticulture! Thanks! 😊
You need to look up the definition of deck building. I haven't played Concordia but I have played 7 Wonders (the duel version) and Everdell and they aren't deck builders at all. I think the word you're looking for is tableau builder.
Have you tried 7 Wonders Duel? I think you guys would really enjoy it. Went back and watched your board game collection Vlog you guys got a good collection going!
We really want to get a hold of 7 wonders duel soon! We always come close to getting it each time we take a trip to the store but we tend to walk away with games allowing more players as our game nights tend to be with family. Jenna and I really do need to start having our 2 player game nights more often
The strategy of seven wonders is good. But i think it is the mechanic where all players take their turn at the same time that really makes this game special because it lets you play a seven player strategy game in 30 minutes. I wish wingspan was designed like that too!
@Jenna Rose I watched all your video and I’m pretty sure, considering what you like, that « Clank » would be a hit for you. There’s also many different maps that you can buy to change the atmosphere of the game. I would say « Sunken Treasures » and « The Mommy’s Curse » are the funnier. There’s even a second game of Clank called « Clank in Space », but I would only buy one of them depending on the theme you like the most. I chose the one with the medieval vibe. It is also the one that offers the most expansions. Give it a try and tell me if it cracks your top 3. Have fun !

I’ve always wanted to try out Le Havre but Jenna and I tend to keep mid-weight boardgames as the heavier ones tend to scare our family away and they’re the ones we play with most. Someday Jenna and I will get more boardgame friends so we can finally delve into the heavier stuff :)
LOVE THE LIST! @Ongo is my boyfriend and like he said we want to get into more heavier games in the future! Food Chain Magnet is one that I have always wanted. I love the theme! Thanks for sharing your list! 😊
@@Ongo771 Actually Le havre is really easy to learn, since there are 2 main actions and you choose 1 action among 2 of your turn. It only takes more or less 10 minutes to teach how to play. Hope we could play together in TTS~
Great video. Thanks for the content. Love the Autumn decor. Very interesting top 10. It would be neat to see and hear of his top 10 as well. I was very happy to see Miyabi on your list. Keisling is becoming one of my favorite designers. Iconic! I highly recommend you try another one of his; Riverboat. Very fun tile laying game that is not too complex. Medium weight. I need to get Concordia. I had it at one time, but I can’t stand the box. And I was hoping for a Big Box version to come out for it. With all the expansions and what not. Mac Gertz is an awesome designer. Bold enough to say his rondel system is the foundation for all others after his implementation in many of his games. I used to play a game of his called Imperial. A game with a tough learning curve. Subtleties that become apparent around 10 games or so. Favorite of mine for a long time. Unfortunately, difficult to get players into it. Even though I believe Concordia is his masterpiece, I am looking to get another title of his called Navegador. One game on your list that is now on my want list is The Search for Planet X. My wife loves Sudoku. And if you say it’s Sudoku on crack… that sounds like a game my wife might play with enthusiasm. Thanks again for another solid video. Not enough content out there to do so. Edit: Didn’t know Francis’s top ten was posted
Oh...... the fact that you called Welcome to Your Perfect Home by its correct name earned you a sub! I think you're the only person besides myself I've heard call it that.
AHAHAHA! Thank you so much! I never understood why people just called it Welcome To... lol! I guess it is just easier to say but I just can't do it! Thank you so much for the sub. I am going to start doing more board game content in 2022 and I am so excited! 😊💕
I really like a lot of the games on your top 10 list, its great to find someone with a similar taste in games! I look forward to trying out some of the other games im not as familiar with. Thanks for sharing!
Solid board gaming content! There's a few here I've been dying to try (like Everdell and Tiny Towns), but 7 Wonders def is one of the 3 games that got me into the hobby, though I play a lot more more 7 Wonders Duel these days than the OG. Have you tried the new 7 Wonders: Architects? It's supposed to make it a more family-friendly style game (allegedly)...
We actually were going to get 7 Wonders Architects the other day and the guy there said it isn't great! It's VERY simple. Very good for family for sure! He said it has a similar game play as Sushi Go. We ended up putting it back because we do prefer more difficult games personally! 😊
Cities for 7 wonders is a good expansion to just always keep in. Adds a bit more variety without really any new rules. Between Leaders, Babylon, and Armada - I'd say one of those at a time when you want a new layer for the game. From our experience, different people like one of those over another. My pref was Leaders too, but the rest of the group didn't like it. Now I like Armada best.
Really enjoyed the list, thank you! Always trying to find games that my wife and daughters will enjoy. They love Wingspan and Everdell (my daughter's favorite) and now I have to check out Miyabi, Santa Monica and Above and Below. Thanks!
Thanks for this. Your top 10 is very similar to mine. I hadn’t even heard of the Search for Planet X though, so may have to think about getting it! And you might just have tipped me into getting Above and Below.
@@JennaRoseBeasley I have not played clank in space yet. I first need to talk my wife into getting a game that is basically the same with a different theme haha
Have you looked around for boardgame cafes? Quite a few big cities have them, and you can go there and play a game from their selection while having something to eat or drink which is a great way to try out some of the newer titles. Be aware though that the selection can be overwhelming though, so sometimes a bit of pre-planning can help (which is where videos like this can help you get a list of ones to try)
Like that you show the back of some of the games - think you should do this with all of them & earlier in your explanations. (Never understood why reviewers rarely do this.)
Near & Far has always been one on my wishlist! It looks amazing! All the games from Red Raven look amazing! Now or Never, Sleeping Gods! I'm also obsessed with the art style of all their games. SO GOOD! Thanks! 😊
@@JennaRoseBeasley Sleeping Gods is sooooo good. The art, the exploration, the storytelling and certainly freedom of choices make this a standout game... it's a memorable experience to be sure!
Will definitely do this! 😊 I want to look into more games that are strictly for 2 players but I will say all the games I mentioned in this video can be played 2 players and Francis and I really enjoy them all together!
I have wanted this video for awhile!! I love your board game content and you inspired me to get Everdell a few years ago for my husband. Wingspan is one of our favorite games- the Oceania expansion is fun too. We have Tiny Towns too but we need to try all the others. Takenoko & Takaido are some of our favorites too! I can’t wait to look at Francis’ list as well ❤️
Yay! I’m so happy I finally did it! Makes me want to do more board game content for sure! 😊💕 that makes me so happy that we inspired you to get Everdell! Such a good game! We definitely have similar taste in games! Would you say the Oceania expansion is a must? Should we get it? We have been tempted for sure!
@@JennaRoseBeasley I wouldn’t say it is a must but it does being in some fun changes! Since we started the expansion we haven’t gone back to the regular game. It is definitely my fun!! We probably play WingSpan the most currently
We did a collection video over a year ago but I would LOVE to upload one in the new year! Our collection has definitely changed and would love to share it! I'm excited to do more board game content in 2022! Thanks for watching! 😊
Fun video!! I love 7 wonders too. We really like settlers of Catan with the Cities and Knights expansion. The basic game is just a little too boring in our opinion. And I also like terriforming Mars a lot!
So glad you enjoyed!!! 🥰 Yes we definitely want to look into getting some expansions for Catan! We play it so often and would love to change it up a bit and add something different to the game! Terraforming Mars is definitely on our wishlist! Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition looks so good too!
I'm surprised you haven't picked Dinosaur Island or its "Rawr and Write." It seems like one that would be right up your alley based on what you picked.
@@cyberdan42 Yes, but it include just a part of it. There's also "Viticulture: Tuscany essential edition", that was the one i was talking about. It includeds the new board with all 4 seasons, other cards and a little expansion of the player board. I'd like to think think that this is a completion not an expansion.
Your taste is very similar to ours (My wife and I) I would recommend two on Viticulture's difficulty level. Grand Austria Hotel and Castles of Burgundy.
Ohhh thank you for the recommendations! My boyfriend has been wanting Castles Of Burgundy for so long! We are just scared it might be too complicated! Is it pretty much the same difficulty as Viticulture? I’ll have to check out Grand Austria Hotel as well!
@@JennaRoseBeasley I think it might be even less complicated than Viticulture. I would say Grand Austria Hotel would be more like Viticulture, maybe a little bit more but just like in Viticulture the theme helps understand the game because you basically feed them, prepare rooms and put the guests in your the rooms and anyone can relate to that.
Congratulations, all great recomendations. I have a huge collection of board games and participate in a youtube channel in spanish about board games here in Puerto Rico called The gaming dragons. Soon will be uploading our videos for christmas gift recomendations. By the way, when you explained planet x game, you said cuadrants, I understand but you mean sections or areas, because cuadrants is when you divide the plane in 4 areas by the horizontal x axe and the vertical y axe. ja ja ja Yes, there is a Catan about the space is called: Catan Starfarers is and and the other you mentioned is catan seafarers is and expantion. I think with the base one is enought, but you can check the seafarers expantion maybe it add new challenge and taste to the game. I have the Catan: starfarers is a huge box and expensive game.
Also since you like Viticulture so much, I highly recommend the Visitor's expansion. Changes the cards up so they are less VP focused and more wine production focused.
It's interesting how the same titles seem to always appear on the greatest board games ever.. Ticket to Ride Sheriff of Nottingham Catan family of games Viticulture Above & Below Gloomhaven Then there's other games that everyone seems to enjoy, yet never get mentioned in Best-Of lists: Trans-Siberian Railroad Quacks of Quedlinburg "Century" family of games. It's a Wonderful World, Santorini Castles of Burgundy Orleans Castles of mad king Ludwig Azul Aeons End Luxor Stone Age Orange Nebula Battlestar Galactica Gaia Project Dice Forge Portal Calico Sagrada Kindom Death Monster Why???!
I would say that a lot of those are up there for me! The ones I listed were my favourites at that time. They do change quite often because there are so many amazing games out there! Even since then, I have played some new games and I would say my top 10 is different. It’s so hard to list your favourites when there are so many you love. I’m sure those other games are on peoples top ten lists! They are all very popular games! 😊👍🏻
Girl, if you ever want to do trades or hear my board games that I'm selling and share your list of your cull, I'd love it! Perhaps will buy some off ya!
Great video and list! I really wanted to try the Search for Planet X. I love deduction games; Awkward Guests is one of my favourites- another good choice if you like Cluedo/murder mystery :)
YES! We actually have Awkward Guests! It is SO MUCH FUN! I just discovered that Alchemists is also a deduction game and I NEED IT! I believe it's like a 3.91 on BGG so it is a bit more difficult then the other two games but I am intrigued! 🥰
5:11 what's she talking about? Dice and card and worker what? I'd love to get more into games but would like to understand the different types. Not even sure what to Google? Board game types isn't working 😵💫
I would definitely recommend looking up board game mechanisms! Board Game Geek is a great website to look at board games in each mechanism category. For example my boyfriend and I love “worker placement”. That’s pretty much a board game that you have workers you place on different parts of the board that allow you to perform different actions. 😊👍🏻 there are so many mechanisms a board game can have and they can have multiple. Honestly I should totally make a BOARD GAME 101 type video for people wanting to get into the hobby! 👏🏻
I hate starting with this, I don't want to look like a "well actually" internet nerd, but Gloomhaven is a campaign game rather than a legacy game. A Legacy game is a fairly small group of titles where the game is destroyed/altered as you play it, so most of them can only be played through once. Since nothing in Gloomhaven is destroyed you can replay it endlessly. That's why I really dislike legacy games as they seem quite wasteful/indulgent to me, so I'm careful to draw that distinction between the two types. Otherwise, they are quite similar in that the games generally feature ongoing development in characters etc, and the experience of one session informs the next, just give me a game that I can go back to rather than something like Pandemic Legacy which you can't play again after completing the 12-24 sessions. You can't say it's not good value as I think that it would entertain a group of 4 people for 12-24 hours for the same cost as them going to the cinema once, it's more of an environmental thing that bothers me. Pedantry out of the way, I enjoyed seeing the list from a content producer outside of the boardgame bubble - I agree it's a lovely hobby to just spend time with people, without say the formality of a dinner party. I kind of feel that the best approach for a person with a lifestyle rather than hobby audience is to do top tens based on life. "Top ten games to invite friends over for", "Top Ten Games to Relax with your partner", "Top Ten Games for Competitive Couples", "Top Ten Games for family gatherings". Most BG channels would break down by say mechanic or theme, but that only makes sense to people who already know what niches they are interested in hearing about. You could maybe also try doing a series of videos of hobby market games vs ones you grew up with so for example Clue vs Awkward Guests Scrabble vs Paperback (vs Hardback?) Game Of Life vs Pursuit Of Happiness What I find has helped put people off boardgames is a few things - you don't get the fast gratification of video games for example, but a big one is because of bad experiences with titles like Monopoly or Risk (both take too long to finish for me), so if there is a hobby game that fixes some of the issues, that might be a fairly non-confrontational way to talk about why people might like to give these ones a try despite the bad experiences? These sort of things can sound a bit snobby coming from hobbyist channels I was delighted to see Above & Below on the list, as I find that a completely charming and relaxing game. It's an odd beast with the sort of choose your own adventure story bits, but that just adds to the rather bucolic feel to me. With 7 Wonders I can appreciate the design, but I don't feel like the amount of choice I have (particularly in games with more players) meshes well with how complex the scoring is. I much prefer any drafting games to skew simpler, as it frees up concentration for chatting. Not against complex games, just that I don't think complicated drafting games meshes with me, so give me something like The Networks (easier scoring than 7 Wonders, but still with some interesting decisions), Sushi Go Party, or for a younger family something like Planet (though scoring the planets at the end can be a bit tricky physically, how cute the little planets look when done makes up for it!). Catan is another one of the big names (on the hobby side) that I have very mixed feelings about. It has a huge influence, but I've had a few too many games where the robber has just absolutely hosed me and can often feel like I'm just missing turns with no real options until it gets moved off the particular space. Since a big thing for you is having that physical camaraderie, I'm not sure the site will be of interest, but BoardGameArena is a browser based platform that lets you play a lot of games which may at least give you a way to try out some that you're unfamiliar with, especially if you have the other players on Skype or something similar at the same time. Some games need a player with a premium account to be around, and you'll also need a premium account if playing with people in the same IP address, but it has let me game with nephew and his mum over lockdown (he is a bit of a fan of Stone Age) Finally (and sorry for the post turning in to an essay!) here are a few titles that might be of interest: -The Bloody Inn. Based on a true story apparently, the players are a family running an inn in France, and murdering guests and burying the bodies so the police don't catch them (or require a bribe to look the other way). It's a wonderfully tight little game with a macabre theme that can easily lead to comedy. It also has a fairly tiny space requirement so can be played on a coffee table -Escape From The Aliens In Outer Space. It's a hidden movement game where you're not quite sure who is an alien trying to eat you and who is another human player just running in the same direction as you! You can get some clues about where other players are, but sometimes players can lie, and sometimes they don't need to say anything at all... -Dice Hospital. Available on BGA, it's a bit of a multiplayer solitaire as you try to score points by curing patients in clusters. You can recruit rooms for your hospital and extra staff, and it is ultimately a contest of trying to activate your workers and rooms in the way that clears the most people. I don't know how well it scales for 2 players though. It can be played that way, BUT because you don't go as far through the deck it seems easier for a player to get punished by not drawing the colours they needed -Chronicles Of Crime. You need a phone or tablet to play this, but it essentially uses the board as an interface for a point and click adventure by using QR codes, so you can quickly get caught up in a tale of murder etc. Apparently it works really well for groups when you have the phone put the game on the TV -New York Slice. A game about sharing pizza - one player divides it, and the others get to take which section they want leaving the person who split it with the last selection. Yes, the pieces do look a lot like real pizza so it can inspire an appetite! -Fuse. A real time game about trying to defuse bombs on a space ship (or solve number puzzles with dice as it feels pretty abstract...) It's got a great tension and because it is played on a timer you can reliably play it in 10 minutes
Gloomhaven is technically a legacy game because you put stickers on the board. The legacy aspects are minor compared to most though. It even says legacy on BGG!
@@chrisstrickland5517 Ah fair enough, I thought it was entirely resetable. I'll add it to my avoid list, I thought it was along the lines of Descent where you had some way to track status changes for characters between plays, but not actually making any permanent changes (although at least unlike Pandemic Legacy, you're unlikely to get through the whole of it in under a few years...). Thanks for the correction

Fantastic list of games! I own alot of games from this list 😊 and many of them are on my top list as well!
Thank you so much! 😊
I've been interested in Tiny Towns but have heard the cottage gets spammed to win, what do you think?
the Long Weekend mini expansion for Santa Monica is really really fun! great games :)
OHHHH! I didn't even know there was an expansion for Santa Monica! Thank you! Ill have to look into it! 🥰
Thanks for this. Your top 10 is very similar to mine. I hadn’t even heard of the Search for Planet X though, so may have to think about getting it! And you might just have tipped me into getting Above and Below.
YESSS! That makes me so happy! Thank you for watching. Definitely look into both for sure! 🥰 they are amazing!
If you like deck builders I strongly recommend clank! IMO one of the best board games of all time if not the best. :)
Since this video we have gotten Clank! And Clank! In! Space! 😊👏🏻 you are exactly right! They are fantastic!
@@JennaRoseBeasley I have not played clank in space yet. I first need to talk my wife into getting a game that is basically the same with a different theme haha
Clank was my favorite deck builder till I played dune imperium on monday
@@Shea-Key I’ll have to check it out!
great job didnt know there are so many games. You started me thinking how fun this would be to play board games again
If you like the immersion of Above & Below, be sure to check out the other sequels in the trilogy, especially Near & Far.
Some of my fav games on there.
Have you ever played a feast for odin and can you tell why you like viticulture more than that?
I’d love to hear about your top 10 two player games!!
Will definitely do this! 😊 I want to look into more games that are strictly for 2 players but I will say all the games I mentioned in this video can be played 2 players and Francis and I really enjoy them all together!
great list and great production
What are you using to keep your cards stored into little decks? 15:00 Is it like a kind of plastiband?
Hi Jenna..big fan of your videos. Really great list. I reside in India but these games are not available here. So wanted to play these.
Good list!
Fantastic list of games!
Thank you so much!
Great list! I would like to see your collection and how you store them
We did a collection video over a year ago but I would LOVE to upload one in the new year!
Thank you for the explanation!
we produce and export lots of such games!
Hi my favorite board games is rolling stones rock n roll party game and chess n Checker set and Monopoly .
Im so glad i ordered 7 wonders ❤️
So glad you did this, thank you!
AWH! No problem! Would love to do more! Any other board game videos you would like to see? Let me know! 😊
What's that background music it's pretty calming and nice , would love to play it, while gaming
I dig the robe and ☕️ mug. Then the skill share kicked in. Then Ieft. Don't be sad. Still a little hottie.
The Search for Planet X is definitely the best deduction game 😻 nice lists!!
YES LOVE IT! Awkward Guests is also a really good one! 😊👏🏻
great video! would be slick if you added timestamps/chapters/whatever YT calls it for list videos like this!
I finally got around to finishing this video. The disrespect to Catan is hurtful but I get it haha :)
I love WINGSPAN we play that every Sunday I. Have all the expansions too it's most amazing game I recommend that game!!!!
What a great list!
I'm surprised you haven't picked Dinosaur Island or its "Rawr and Write." It seems like one that would be right up your alley based on what you picked.
If you like viticulture, looks for his expansion Tuscany. We think it's absolutely good to complete it.
Pretty sure she held up the Essentials edition, which includes the key Tuscany additions.
I think Everdell is Tableau building, not Deck Building
Wingspan is fantastic. My wife’s #1 game and my number 2 (Scyth is my fav). We just ordered Everdell.
Hope you guys are enjoying everdell! I really want to try Scythe soon. It’s on my wishlist :)
We got Scythe the other day! Excited try it out soon!
I'd make the distinction between complex and complicated.
"Complicated" implies unnecessary complexity, i.e. that doesn't serve a purpose.
Solid list!
You should try the Stardew Valley board game if you haven’t!
I would love any and all board game content!!
Omg could you do a board game purge video if / when you do get rid of them
YESSS 100% will do that! 👏🏻
Jenna Rose? Like the girl from "My Jeans"?
Ticket to Ride
Sheriff of Nottingham
Catan family of games
Viticulture
Above & Below
Gloomhaven
Then there's other games that everyone seems to enjoy, yet never get mentioned in Best-Of lists:
Trans-Siberian Railroad
Quacks of Quedlinburg
"Century" family of games.
It's a Wonderful World,
Santorini
Castles of Burgundy
Orleans
Castles of mad king Ludwig
Azul
Aeons End
Luxor
Stone Age
Orange Nebula
Battlestar Galactica
Gaia Project
Dice Forge
Portal
Calico
Sagrada
Kindom Death Monster
Why???!
What a great list of games.
Top 10 family games please 😍
You make me want to buy them all 😭
So silly when board games say ages 8-99, like 100 year olds can no longer play Miyabi 😂
Yes talk more about board games.
I would suggest Obsession. An excellent game
Ohhh yes! This is one we definitely have on our wishlist!! It looks great! 😊👏🏻
Great video
Have you played 7 wonders Duel?
Just remember the pools are a lie.
This was so fun! I need more friends so I can get some of these hahah
2hrs is a short game ;O)
💓
You could maybe also try doing a series of videos of hobby market games vs ones you grew up with so for example
Clue vs Awkward Guests
Scrabble vs Paperback (vs Hardback?)
Game Of Life vs Pursuit Of Happiness
What I find has helped put people off boardgames is a few things - you don't get the fast gratification of video games for example, but a big one is because of bad experiences with titles like Monopoly or Risk (both take too long to finish for me), so if there is a hobby game that fixes some of the issues, that might be a fairly non-confrontational way to talk about why people might like to give these ones a try despite the bad experiences? These sort of things can sound a bit snobby coming from hobbyist channels
I was delighted to see Above & Below on the list, as I find that a completely charming and relaxing game.
Some games need a player with a premium account to be around, and you'll also need a premium account if playing with people in the same IP address, but it has let me game with nephew and his mum over lockdown (he is a bit of a fan of Stone Age)
Finally (and sorry for the post turning in to an essay!) here are a few titles that might be of interest:
-The Bloody Inn. Based on a true story apparently, the players are a family running an inn in France, and murdering guests and burying the bodies so the police don't catch them (or require a bribe to look the other way). It's a wonderfully tight little game with a macabre theme that can easily lead to comedy. It also has a fairly tiny space requirement so can be played on a coffee table
-Escape From The Aliens In Outer Space.
It can be played that way, BUT because you don't go as far through the deck it seems easier for a player to get punished by not drawing the colours they needed
-Chronicles Of Crime. You need a phone or tablet to play this, but it essentially uses the board as an interface for a point and click adventure by using QR codes, so you can quickly get caught up in a tale of murder etc. Apparently it works really well for groups when you have the phone put the game on the TV
-New York Slice.
You CAN buy reusable stickers separately and play again and again, seeing as that is the only legacy element.
No regular watchers of this channel will read the essay you wrote.
Catan is the truth
