dude..that guy stole my channel and he's touring Europe right now...I heard he is in Germany and won't give me my channel back... let me know if you catch him somehow somehow...
These interviews with people I recognise and remember from my early teens seem like the last breath of a by gone era. Mark made some interesting points but was very smart to caveat his opinions with ‘times have changed’ and ‘who cares what I think?’. The history was fascinating, the predictions, unsurprisingly, not so much. Really interesting listen regardless 🙏
I dunno if his point about kids wanting to buy a skate based on the skater's name really holds true now in the RUclips age. We are all much more informed and decerning consumers. Everyone checks reviews and stats on every purchase of every product they buy these days. In the days he is talking about all we had was magazines showing off a skate but zero information about fit, feel, skating style working with that setup, we just bought blindly and hoped it worked out.
I agree for the most part, but that's only a portion of consumers. A lot of people do their research, and make sure they're making a good purchase. However there's also a fascinating new group of people that, despite having all the info in the world available to them, they just Google it and buy either the cheapest option or the first one advertised to them, even if it's completely overpriced or unfit for their use.
Laurent Stieger 1 second ago I have to admit that as a 38 year old kid, if there is a Dustin Latimer Aeon coming out in the coming months, i will definitely run and be the first to buy it haha
That was a very eye opening interview. I was glued to the screen the whole time. It was educational, real, and raw. Thank you both for that. I wholeheartedly agree with Mark. It use to be something, mean something. Now not so much. I have always worked better with a boss similar to Mark. They can be a drill sergeant. They can be tough they can be stern, but they have your best interest at heart. Loyalty
Mark comes from a time when the blading industry was so cut throat pros on the same team had beef over the top spot and to big the biggest. There’s was a lot more money in the industry back then for the riders so it makes sense. Now we are in a totally different time when the industry as a whole almost died and is still barely making a comeback so the money isn’t there anymore. I do agree that every team should have a vision and only turn riders ‘pro’ who have the whole package With style, personality, skill, and have the respect of riders already on the team. THEM and MESMER are great current examples of this. Can’t wait for part 2!
He has a great point. Why aren't these pros stamped into skating like the O.G teams? They lack proper management of all aspects in their career. Everything is DIY nowadays with social media and it would be nice to see a team come out like that under proper management again.
This was a really interesting and entertaining interview. He does come across as being bitter though and seems to be trying (unsuccessfully) to talk down the existing USD/Powerslide teams. This bit was hilarious how Ricardo instantly shut him down with 3 names that he knew Mark couldn't talk rubbish about: 1:08:47. The level of disrespect here is mad: 1:18:00 - As well as Chris Farmer, if we are talking about big names on the pro team that are well known internationally and could more than hold their own in any era there is also Eugen Enin and Nick Lomax as Ricardo mentioned. In fact, I can't think of any other skate company that could name a better 3 from their current pro team alone. Then there is Takeshi Yasutoko who needs no introduction. Expanding to the wider Powerslide/Disroyal brands there is John Bolino, Dominic Bruce Montre Livingston and Franky Morales. I can't help but think Mark is just chatting shit here!
I felt the same way at first, but I think that he talks like that to everyone. Including the people he loves. He is just a strong and passionate guy, which can come off aggressive and negative sometimes even if that’s not his intention.
When the USD came out for the first time an I seen them joints I was blown whit the other guys how we looked at the first pair . The soul kit the the color the liner it was a hit for the company every one wanted them bc every one was learning the grinds an it did help a lot the. Screwing a little L block to ur lightnings lol
he can barely get his point across... he went in circles for such a long time. yea I get it, USD isn't what it is now because "talent and lifestyle and talent and style and all that and shima did his thing, and my point is this, arlo did his thing, and you know... dustin was dustin, so my point is look, the woke... back then you're down or you're down, dustin did his thing... look: I am more USD than anyone else. you have to understand, me me me, I , me..". goddeiyum

Seems so narcissistic. When Ricardo try explain something about a new team he doesn’t know anything about he freaked out But of course He has ALL the answers 😂

Halfway through. I don't always agree with the man, but he makes some very valid points. Great video.
Thanks Mark for putting me on The USD Flow Team Malaysia.
Cool Video Lino, I started rollerblading in the summer so I don't know much of the history of the sport. This is really insightful, good work!

Great interview. Really appreciate the honesty and no holds barred answers by Mark Korte!

Something really bothers me about the way he talks to Ricardo. Ricardo has the patience and restraint of a saint.

This was an amazing interview, very insightful. I really hope there’s a part 2 with Mark

This is a great interview but my point is this.....
Legendary talk !

The more I listen to this guy the less i'm interested in listening to him. Outdated middle manager vibes. Step into the 21st century, mark.
Hit the nail on the head, 💯

Damn Mark, this is Jens. it`s been a while.
Always thought that Mark's origin is Germany. He always seemed german to me. 🤣
Una falta de respeto hacía los Pros actuales. Ni vale la pena comentar o darle importancia a ésta negatividad.
