I just love watching all of the progress you and your dad are making on the house, but for me, Angelica is the star of the show. It was so cute watching you play with her at the beginning of the video.

You and your dad are making great work on the ruin. Your video is great as I'm moving to Portugal soon and have never worked with electrical/concrete on stone walls. In Canada I do all my own electrical/plumbing but we have wood framed walls.
Angela is keeping on top of you guys. She is inspecting everything to make sure it's getting done right.
Hi Alex! Good to see your fig tree is doing well in spite of the long heatwaves. Good sign, looks like your soil still has some moister in spite of drought. My fig trees are not so healthy, the figs are falling down before they are ripe, same with leaves, I don't think I'll eat many this year.
If you like the idea of having a collection of different fig trees in your land (for FREE...) now is the time to start going around your area and tasting the neighbours figs. They won't mind when you pick figs from field trees, or the side of the road, but you must ask if you want to go inside their gardens, of course.
When you find figs you like, write down a note of where the tree is located.
In December, when all the leaves have fallen down, go back to each tree and cut a few twigs, about 30 cm long and plant them in pots with soil and compost. Keep watered and place in sunny area. By spring they'll start budding and developing new roots. Plant the following winter in permanent place.
There are a lot of varieties of figs, some rippen early summer, others late autumn and in between. I'm trying to develop my own collection too.
In London figs sometimes cost 1 Euro each... Could be a business for you...?
Fig jam is delicious and easy to make.
I don't even measure anything. Just cut figs in four, put in pan with a glass of water, lemon juice, cinnamon stick and some sugar (not a lot of sugar because they are very sweet already). Let boil for 30 or 40 minutes till the sauce has turned into syrup. Ready to go into jars.
Delicious with buttered toast or added to plain yogurt or ricotta cheese... or croissants.

P.S. Angela will love the leaves of fig trees. We used to pick them from the ground in autumn, when they start falling, to feed our animals. Same with vine leaves.

His other hat was a straw hat and Angelica kept trying to eat it. We've got to get her a boyfriend 💞 to keep her occupied. It's dating season for sheep in Portugal.

As someone mentioned on the comments regarding figs, I always ate only the inside,never the skin, the with liquid I don't think it's good for us, and sometimes when you open then in half you get surprises 😁🐛 love your sheep, looks like a dog.good luck with the progress of your beautiful home!

Bro you have to peel the figs because their outside skin keeps that white juice , which looks like milk and hurts the stomach. If the figs are open from the bottom when they are ripe you have to open them with a knife and check because wasp leave their eggs inside the open figs. So take care . Fresh figs are delicious and when outside is burnin and you leave them in the fridge they are fantastic , but be aware bro .
You don't need to peel them, and when they are ripe, they don't have milk, only in the stem attached to the tree, but we don't eat the stem. When they are closed, they don't have insects inside.
Hi Alex , just advise from me, before you put concrete flor better put electric cables. Later you can be negatively surprised that it not goes through the pipes and all work will be for nothing. Take care Darius

Hi Alex/Dad - Ian here! 😁I am confused why you have buried the electrical boxes in the wall as you stated you will be dry-lining the walls (and insulating too maybe) as they could more easily have been clipped into plasterboard cut out holes
We are gluing Drywall, without metal structure on these walls.

Yea we will need alittle bit longer, not much though, because we installed the boxes 1-1.5cm off the wall, so in some places the box is aligned with the drywall.

Hey Alex I have a question for u ..have u watch the indie project or Portugal start to finish or project Portugal they all do a lot of pointing and rendering
Personally I don't think Alex's Dad has anything much to learn from those two channel's. Unless of course, as in today's Project Portugal vlog, who state that granite DOES NOT and Concrete/Render/Brick DOES need pre-wetting when rendering, which is the opposite to what Alex/Dad did. I have no idea which is right or wrong!
