    Just an answer to the flip-up screen's icons along the bottom not being easily accessible... Yes, when you move the screen backward even a little it'll flip. BUT, if you hold the frame next to the camera body and gently move the screen ONLY back a small bit you can keep the screen looking right, AND access the icons on the bottom with no problem. Try it. You'll love it. ANd it doesn't cost anything, needs no add-ons, and it works.

    The new Sigma primes totally change the game for the EF-M cameras.

  • @AshleyPaul

    If you're just buying it to use with the 22mm f2 (and you should), then the Canon is really cheap. $799 for the body, $199 for the lens today during Cyber Monday sales. Think of it like a cheaper, smaller, more versatile X100V that doesn't have any significant overheating issues, has a fully flip up screen, a few more megapixels, and the ability to use other lenses. M6 Mark II reliably offers 50 minutes of 4K internal before overheating (actually better than A6400/6600 at room temperature), but it can record 1080p immediately after 4K overheating limit has been reached, and never overheats when using HDMI output in 4K. Plus, it's just fun to use! I think it's the most well-rounded APS-C camera on the market. Everybody talks about how many great lenses there are on the E mount, but there is nothing like the 22mm on the E mount: a good, cheap, compact lens that has great image quality in stills, focuses quietly and accurately in video, and opens up to f/2 or brighter. Sony bodies are still using micro-USB, and its single good first-party 35mm-equivalent is a monstrously large $998 Zeiss 24mm lens, and if you use 4K30, there's a 1.2x crop, which actually brings it to GH5S territory. Fuji is a great alternative, too, by the way, but their cameras tend to overheat quicker than the M6 Mark II does, and not having Sigma primes makes the lens selection trickier.

    Best way to M series cameras is a Viltrox speedbooster. Essentially makes it full frame and even faster apertures. I use the EF 28, 50, and 85. All are bascially 32, 56, and 97 with F1.2 apertures. Works fatastic with my original M6 and M5.

    I've owned the m6 mark ii for a few months now. I love it! I love canon's menus and interface. This camera can do so much and the photos are very sharp. I use the 18-150 mm f/3.5-6.3 telephoto and the sigma 30 f/1.4 prime. Both lenses shoot fantastic images. I personally wish the view finder was built in but I'm ok with how it is. But using a speed light means the view finder comes off. Otherwise I think this is an amazing camera.

    The EVF is great. Your nose doesn't touch the screen. Plus, you can use the previous EVF that tilts up (great for macro shooters). I mostly use the Canon EF-S 18-135mm lens via the adapter. The one camera, one sharp lens solution.

  • @artistjoh
    @artistjoh 5 лет назад +2

    This M mount dissing is so irrelevant. Most people simply use the EF-M adapter and use either EF-S or EF lenses. Unlike third party adapters, the Canon made adapter allows the EF and EF-S lenses work like they are native. The M-mount was introduced when Canon was anti-mirrorless. The M50 camera popularity changed that, and the M6 M2 appears to be on the road to being equally popular. Now that Canon has seen the mirrorless light, that with the popularity of the new cameras Canon will be putting resources into developing new M lenses. Even if they do, however, I suspect that adapted lenses will remain very popular.
    BTW you are correct about the EVF. Being able to remove it is a great feature.

    • @TheEverydayDad
      @TheEverydayDad  5 лет назад

      I really hope they do, I like the size of their APSC mirrorless camera’s but I don’t like the lenses plus (much like Sony) if I’m buying a small mirrorless camera I don’t want to put huge full frame glass on it.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh 5 лет назад

      The Everyday Dad Canon for too long treated the M system like an after thought. Now that the M50 has been a hit in Asia and Europe, all it will take is for the M6 M2 to sell well for them to start getting serious about M. OTOH, it took Canon forever to build out the EF-S line, and even now the EF-S lineup is barely enough. Canon has been frustrating in recent years, but DSLR sales are going down so fast they are getting desperate. When they announced 24fps would be returning is the first time In like forever that they have promised to reintroduce a feature via a firmware update. Canon is usually so aloof, and seeing them back down like that is like waking up and discovering that black is white, up is down, and the mad hatter is sitting at the table demanding a fresh pot of tea.

    works great for what i bought it for, Street photography, much less conspicuous than a 5d or 1d, and as a bonus the mount adapts my Ef L series lens, and reduces weight slightly, yes its a shame there are not many good lens to use with this camera, but its persuaded me to go for the 5r and get the generic lens, so bye bye the DSLR 1 and 5 series, and all the lens other than my 300 prime

    You can change the custom function of buttons to use physical buttons on the M 50 and I think the rest of the M line. For saving battery I changed the delete button (which is useless outside of the plate screen) to become a quick LCD shut off. I then changed the flash function or right button to become white balance, etc. also, once you select iso, or f stop, or any.. it’s not like you have to slide.. you can just roll the one available dial once you’ve selected whatever piece of the triangle you’re hoping to change. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I get so annoyed I cannot change the settings from the front way bottom without knocking the wrong place and I have small fingers - plus it rotates when I pull away the screen a bit so I cannot change a setting Grrrrr - what’s the point of a touch screen my fingers cannot accurately touch !! I’m okay to not have too many lenses as it saves me money and I can’t be bothered to keep changing lenses! Wish the 11-22 had a lower aperture so I could vlog in low light 💡. The only reason I stuck to Canon was the touch screen .... and the colors - and I needed something portable cuz the G7X focus was awful ! Thanks for the update !!

I have no idea which camera is good for me. I was thinking about Canon M50 with 22 mm lens, Sony A6400 or Fuji XT 30.? @@richbarrett The SmallRig plate is really great, but I use the UURig one. It's almost the same design, but slightly wider to fit an Arca-Swiss dovetail. If you take your camera on and off tripods a lot, it's very convenient. The SmallRig plate is probably better if you don't have Arca-Swiss compatible gear, since it's a bit smaller.

    • @AshleyPaul
      @AshleyPaul 3 года назад

      It's amazing for live streaming. It has clean HDMI output and can output clean 1080p60 or 4K30. If you power it with a dummy battery, it'll run indefinitely, never overheats. It's so small and light that you can easily mount it on a desktop stand without worrying about being top-heavy. Run either the Canon 22mm or the Sigma 16mm with it. For desktop use, a flip-up screen is definitely better.

      This M6 camera is terrible in many aspects. Not sure what you meant by "Gear Up..."! Sony, the once underdog, is now the giant of mirrorless cameras, so keep on wishing for a Canon to change the game again. Not gonna happen!

    • @cooloox
      @cooloox 5 лет назад +1

      @@errolsmith5634 Lol, Canon is out-selling Sony in mirrorless cameras. The latest Japan figures showed it way ahead.
      Oh, in response to your statement : don't be fooled by pretty little features, like eye-AF boxes sticking to an eye like glue. That means very little. OK, it found the eye, it didn't necessarily focus on the eye! I watched a side-by-side comparison between the EOS R and the A7iii, shooting a stationery model who then walked around a curved path towards the cameras while backlit. In almost every shot the EOS R nailed the eyes sharper than the Sony, even when the Canon was only using face-detection. Since the latest firmware update the Canon would have been using eye-detection AF much earlier.
      Secondly, the Canon images just look better. So you keep watching your little eye-AF dancing around while EOS R shooters get a higher hit-rate of better looking images.
