This gives me hope. Mine is so rusted but I have seen entire assemblies for sale on eBay. Trick is finding a good shop to do the repair. It’s calming to watch your videos, your mastery of the CRX is impressive. I’ve found good resources for parts and stuff, so many many thanks!
I can't thank you enough for making videos like this. I didn't think I could do this myself but after I saw how it was done, you showing each step in perfect detail, it gave me the confidence to do it. I just finished fixing it today. Of course I broke the bump stops I previously fixed in the process so I'll have to do those again but the sunroof is working properly again thanks to you!
Decent Video. Only thing I can say is that you need to spend a bit more time rehabilitating things before slapping it back together. The rusty dried up grease on the cables needed to be addressed/cleaned/relubricated. The lift arms and tracks need to be removed, cleaned and lubricated as well too. Most of the problems with the sunroof on these cars stems from age and dried up or no lubrication. If you are going to go into this job this far, make sure to do those extra things to make sure it works great after your done. Spraying lube all over the outside of everything does nothing for making sure it is INSIDE of those workings. Might be worth noting that reriviting or bolting the casing that holds the gregparts arms back together will keep them from flexxing open when you are using them and creating undue stress. Keep making these videos. Love them.
Thanks. I just have to balance the amount of time/work I put into something so I can get it finished and under budget. I try to balance a total tear down versus reusing what I have available without spending money.
I watched your video when you repaired these wheels and it really made me wanna repair my gsr blades. I don’t know where to start or begin and really wanted your expertise on what to do with them.
@@crxseth I don’t really have a time set to do them but the sooner the better. There not curb rashed or have deep scratches on the faces it’s really just the clear coat messing up and bubbling. I would love to send you pics and maybe you could tell me sorda a step by step and what grit to use?
Just bought a new sunroof panel to replace the whole in the ceiling of my crx, figured out that I need a new assembly as well so I bought one too. Now I figured out that I don’t have the pieces to connect the two together 😅, do you happen to know where I can buy the weather seal connectors/brackets/bolts? -a struggling CRX owner
Think of all the people out there that have unusable sun roofs because they won’t take any time out of their day to put the effort like Seth does to fix their cars. He probably spent $15 to fix it.
Luckily, those parts were literally $16. 100% worth the cost, but it definitely takes some time to pull it all apart. It can be daunting for newbies, but hopefully videos like this can help folks gain some confidence to DIY.
My sunroof opened. Then, when I tried closing it, it got stuck and looks misaligned. I cranked it with the manual crank handle. Now, the passenger side of the rear portion of sunroof is sticking up. Will these parts fix the issue? It's my first CRX SI. Thanks!!
@@crxseth I also noticed the metal seal frames... did those come with the rubber seal? I just bought a sunroof from a junk yard in Germany, but the metal seal holders are all rusted. The rubber seal though is still good.
Ok maybe I missed this but if my sunroof wont move how do I get it out? I assume that was not an issue for this video lol If there is a way to manually remove my sunroof please inform Thank you
You can drop the entire assembly. Also, there is an Allen wrench hole that is supposed to manually open and close, but beyond that, I’m not sure. I’m going to have to figure this out on my newest rebuild.
How you can help but my sunroof open tilts up and goes all the way back but once I want to close it all the way the sunroof stays tilted on the rear passenger side !! The driver side goes down but the the passenger rear side. I’ve tried manually retracting it while I slightly press down from the top but no luck !!!! What could it be ??
Nvm I just seen that where you installed that new gray part that big bolt on the outside is detached from the spot where it’s suppose to pull on the part that brings it down smh 🤦 the plastict(the one you replaced) is not broken but the part it bolts on the outside is !!!that part is plastic ? F is that even fixable ??
So I came across your Channel I just bought a 87 civic hatchback that I want to swap out the carburetor engine out. What's the bet and cheapest engine to swap, I know nothing about Hondas
Hi Seth, In my next video, I talk about the corrosion treatment of the sunroof frame and its complete reassembly. I also intend to discuss alternative solutions for repairing broken stops and sliders. In order not to plagiarize this video, can you allow me to insert a short extract in mine and make a reference to your video for those who want to replace their cursors?
Thanks for taking the time out of your Sunday to reply. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish with that scary CRX with the sweet hood. K swap with a reverse hood bump? 😂

Man this is motivating me to get on my CRX ... great job bro
This video sure did help with the sunroof repair
Did this to my Rex about a year ago. Still working great. Greg parts is the way to go for these items.

No one does such detailed work like this Man Seth, thanks so much seth.
CrxSeth here to save the day. Started this process and gave up, thank you for motivating me and helping me complete this! One step closer!
As always solid content!! Can't wait for the next project!!
It came out really nice 👍👍👍👏👏 can't wait to see the new CRX project
Grease the rails bro, I had the same issue. Awesome vid.
Car looks excellent! Keep it up. The goat Dana might see you. He is the ef god
I bought the same GregParts for my build. It will be a while before I get them in but super awesome to have an in depth install to look back at. 👍
Dope Rex bro keep it clean
That sunroof jitter is caused by a dry track. I would put some lithium grease up there.
I may try to give that a shot. I figured it was probably grease.

I'm curious on what kind of profit you got out of it, you done a lot of work to it!
I might try to do a breakdown of costs once I get it sold. It’s not officially sold yet.

Look up Sharpe Restoration on Facebook. He sells replacement sunroof seal holders and hardware.

you mean i dont need the internet and tool to fix this
Awesome video. Whats the paint code on that thing & where would i be able to find it?
Hi Seth, the shimmy probably comes from a bad balancing of the traction cable lengths, before the roof motor was reinstalled.
Possibly. I’m not sure. It’s been years since I’ve touched this one. I thought it was lack of lubrication.
Thnk you for reviving a unicorn
Hey man! I love your videos im thinking of getting a 1990 crx and was wondering what steering wheel that was. Nrg?
I honestly do not know the brand. It’s a semi-cheap one. Most likely an off brand.

It’s possible, but best bet is to take it apart and inspect it first.
What did you clean it with?
I cleaned the headliner with some diluted Purple Power cleaner.
CRX BETTER THAN DA!
@CRXSeth Where did you get the parts for the sunroof?
Which parts? The 3D printed parts came from www.gregparts.com but he is only working part time right now.
