    Your country and its neighbors are so rich in history. Finding an abandoned piece of that history is truly remarkable. It is really awesome that you capture them in photos and video to preserve them so that we can all share them. In time they will have returned to the earth from where they came and will be gone forever. Thank you a million times over.

    6:00-6:37 Looks like large capacity well, pre pump, for deep artesian well. Raises the water from deep 100 feet or deeper to 400 feet and holds in expansion tank until water is required in building with more tanks in basement or cellar. Regarding the pipes beside it they could be for old style cesspools/septic, for human waste toilets.9:44 old school drag to level dirt or gravel roads and smooth it out or make level. Still sold or made for use on old roads, if budget won't allow a grader or excavator.

    Hey Janne, Great find and thank you for the variety of different places you explore ! I am not sure what the underground place is for , but I do know that the piece of equipment made with the heavy chains is pulled behind a small tractor too level out the dirt ( like baseball diamonds) and gravel drives ways to reduce potholes. Have a good weekend and take care of yourself. See ya next Friday !

    hi Janne. i grew up on a farm and we always used the chains (we called them harrows) towed behind a farm vehicle to sprend the gravel or manure around for even spreading. Cant wait for part 2!

    I think the round thing in the ground with the black lid is a converted water storage tank. It looks like it was converted to an electric pump and pressure tank. The rusted chains on the ground in from are pulled behind a vehicle to smooth out dirt and rock driveways to help keep them from getting deep tire tacks. I really like watching your videos. I love seeing old places.

    Hi Janne, a very good outside view. It gives a good impression and a feel for the atmosphere and setting. As others have said perhaps not abandoned as long as 30 years ago but maybe the lack of graffiti makes a difference. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the videos.

      +3enjoy3 I found some gossip magazines from the attic, those were 32+ years old.
      These kind of Finnish stone buildings usually look much younger than they are, they dont fall apart very easily.

    • @JanneFlinck
      @JanneFlinck  9 лет назад +1

      +Nikki Jo Lucero Yes these cement walls usually look clean, and many times they use cement walls inside, so thats why they dont look so old, cause wall papers decay much more easily.

    Tässä olisi vähän taustatietoja rakennuksesta.
    Vanhainkodin rakentaminen kunnalliskodin raunioille aloitettiin 28.5.1948 ja ne saatiin päätökseen seuraavana vuonna. Arkkitehti Heimo Vesikarin suunnittelema päärakennus käsittää kahdesta kerroksesta ja vintistä koostuvan vanhainkotiosan ja siihen liitetyn siipiosan, jossa sijaitsivat ruokala ja johtajan asunto. Lisäksi tontille rakennettiin saman arkkitehdin piirustusten pohjalta karjatupa, navetta ja sikala/kanala. Vanhainkotiin rakennettiin kellarikerros vuonna 1956. Uusin rakennus on vuonna 1974 arkkitehtitoimisto Aarre Holttisen piirustusten pohjalta valmistunut tasakattoinen rivitalo, joka toimi henkilökunnan asuntolana.
    Jokainen kynnelle kykenevä vanhainkodin asukas otti osaa talon töihin. Maataloudessa pyrittiin omavaraisuuteen. Maatila tarjosi asukkaille tekemistä niin pelloilla kuin navetassakin. Käytännössä kaikkien asukkaiden ollessa kotoisin samalta kylältä tunnelma oli kotoinen ja luonnonläheinen. Maatila lakkautettiin ja pellot paketoitiin vuonna 1972. Päärakennusta remontoitiin vuonna 1977. Vanhainkodin muutettua kirkonkylälle Aleksis Kiven päivänä vuonna 1993 vanhat rakennukset jäivät autioiksi.
    Autioksi jäätyään vanhainkodista tuli joksikin aikaa paikallisten nuorten suosima paikka, jossa he kävivät tutkimassa, ryyppäämässä tai muuten vaan hengailemassa. Rakennuksen kerrotaan myös vetäneen puoleensa katseilta piilottelevia narkomaaneja (liiman ja/tai liuottimien imppaamiseen koukkuun jääneitä), joita nuoriso joskus retkillään näki. Eräät kävijät olivat kertomuksen perusteella järkyttyneet nähdessään nuoren narkkariäidin nurkassa mutisemassa jotain itsekseen sylivauvaikäisen lapsen itkiessä vieressä. Luultavasti juuri näiden "asukkien" takia poliisi sulki paikan lopullisesti yleisöltä jossain vaiheessa vuoden 1993 jälkeen. 2000-luvulle tultaessa rakennukset olivat jo alkaneet painua unohduksiin. Kiinteistön omistaa nykyään yksityinen henkilö, joka on suunnitellut tiloihin matkailutoimintaa. Toistaiseksi toiminta on rajoittunut marjanpoimijoiden majoittamiseen henkilökunnan asuntolassa.
    Teksti kirjoitettu v. 2015 paikalla käynnin jälkeen

    In the underground room, to the left is a heater and the right is a tank ( water) I am not sure why it is so small, for that size of house, (building ) . Maybe some where in other places? It also is quite far from the house. Maybe for another building?
