Truly astonishing. One of those rare musical masterpieces which grabs you on the first listen. Nick Cave is a genius.
"And some people say it's just rock and roll, oh but it gets you right down to your soul". These lyrics seem to have a profound effect on me, unclear why, I don't reckon myself a rock n roll guy, but apparently Nick knows me better!
There is a saying: "the sky is the limit". If you push the sky away, you're pushing your boundaries out and, hopefully, upward. Your friends, your possessions, and the opinions of others cannot limit you. That's my take, anyway.
I never heard too much nick cave, but 3 days ago I went to his concert at Roskilde festival and was the best concert in my life. I was literally in heaven while he was playing this song...crying inside, huge powerful emotions during the concert, now I just love him

There is a certain ambiguity about the song, it can mean anything, and it has a way of filling any space you desire. Usually I can't hear a song over and over, but this I don't want to stop listening to.

This song gives a me a great rest when i have a problem that i can't catch, when i'm confused. With this song i can touch my confusion as a single feeling and stop to think.I push the sky, what's bothering me far after the horizons and my sadness is free, and that's a great feeling. This space that this song has opened, where i'm able to breath, rest, and feel the huge tenderness of my own sadness and let go in an intimacy that only belongs to me. I love you very much Nick Cave for i'm so thankful for this friend-song. How you can help and vanish so graciously.

That might sound pretty emo and shit I know but hell Mr Cave will always be a special musician for me not only because I grew up with his music but he was also one of my mother's favourite artists....With his songs I can reminisce her and relive the moments I spent with her,though I must admit it's kinda heartbreaking so I don't listen to him that much now....His latest album "Push the Sky Away" was the last CD i bought together with my mother....And just like his father,my mother faded away in a blink of an eye,so unexpectedly and unfairly(she was only 45 )yet in a way that all humans would wish to leave this world behind....Anyway,life is in general full of crap and you have to go through fire and water in order to understand the true meaning of happiness....yeaah..just keep on pushing the sky away no matter what.....I'll stop my depressive weeping rant now...yeah..(sorry for any grammatical error I am not a native English speaker and it's 4 am sooo yeahh......)

Four months away from 2023, I’ve heard this feeling wonderfully conveyed for the first time within a soothing melody. I needed to hear this long ago, at least to feel the awareness that I’m not alone with feeling like life is one long series of problems to solve or endure along the way with experiencing other great joys that stir love in most healthy people. Sometimes it’s a bit painful to consider why the world needs more love.

Feeling like Atlas with heaven on his shoulders, punished by the gods, forced to enormous effort... you either give up and get crushed in result or keep on pushing the sky away, making impossible true.
Amazing song. When I close my eyes, I see a tired wanderer, moving slowly step by step to reach the stars. However silly and naive it might sound, it makes my own journey a bit easier.
I believe he 's singing about people with mental problems (causing 'rock'n roll' short and passionate relations). You can't push the sky away. It's the frustrating feeling of people who struggle against their problems, but keep making the same mistakes. But giving up is not an option. You have friends who say you're doing well, and you have others who try to give you advice.
This music managed to touch my soul, I can say now that I heard the sound of perfection respect Mr cave...

Heard this at the end of the show on Bridge as well. I immediately paused it and grabbed my Shazam app to tell me the song. Love it and love this group. Searched Amazon MP3 and found the album. I have to say the end of that show was something I never want to see again. It still hurts...but this group is awesome! They remind me of Lifehouse.

I only know of this band from the song "Red Right Hand", which is a great song and perfect for a Western. But when I heard of this newer album, I decided to give it a try. I liked it, mostly because it has a different sound, which shows that Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds have grown and gone a long way since "Red Right Hand". By far, THIS is the best song on the album. Beautiful, haunting, and powerful end to a deep and unique album.
