You give a beautiful and helpful demonstration of playing scales as musical and melodious exercises that can be nice to listen to when played in a creative way. Thank you.
The normal way that i play it....also the brass keep on complaining about how you cant hear woodwinds and only them like dang we're for the melody ,i dont see you getting any melodies....sorry had to rant a bit
Hello , I just wanted to say you really helped me in many ways about how to play the flute ! You are a teacher I wish I could have listened to when I was still in school 15 years ago. Thank you Amélie. And greetings from France ! You're the best :) !
aaaah thanks! I was using this book and then forgot it at my mom's (who lives in another country) and out of sight, out of mind... Now I can go back to practicing with it again. Favorite ways to play scales... well, sluring is my default, and I aim to do them all - including B,C, Db and D three octaves, and Chromatic - in one breath. I know I'm out of practice when I struggle with doing the downwards third octave and have to breathe. I always thought slur two tongue two was fun, ever since I watched my mom teach her students that. I also get bored doing scales, so I usually switch up what order I do them in - fifths, fourths, or step by step, and sometimes I'll do the (natural) minors after the major (E maj then E min) or sometimes I'll do the minors after the corresponding major (C maj then A min), or I'll do all the majors and then all the minors. And I randomly start on a different scale each time - Eb, E, and Gb major are probably my favorite scales as are the minors with those key signatures, so I'll often start with those, or I may start with the scale that matches the key of whatever solo I want to work on that day. And once in a blue moon I'll do the Eb scale 3 octaves. It's too late to practice tonight, since it's 10pm, but I'll definitely do Reichert tomorrow! Thanks again!
Hi Amelie. Happy Late Easter 🐣🐥🐇🐰💗💛🧡💚 I Hope You Had A Good Holiday Weekend And I Hope You’re Doing We’ll Today. I Am Going To Enjoy This Video 😊😊😊😊😊😊.
Great and useful video! Could you do the same video type with all 7 Reichert exercises? By the way, this video confirms how much I am happy to have subscribed two years ago to your Channel! Thank you from France, Paris.
Thanks! I’ve been taking these through all keys this year, finally up to A Major. Wow do they get challenging. Do you have any advice for keeping motivated the first time through?
take small steps daily, trying to do them all for some can be tiring and demotivating. I would pick some days to do as many as you feel comfortable and the other days to really get to know just a few scales. then mix up the rotation on each scale. hope that helps!
you might not be able to answer this but, I recently cut my lip and got a scab and when I tried to play my flute the low c and high c wouldnt come out easily is this going to change once my lip heals or is it permanent cuz im really scared...
Thanks for making the scales sound so musical.you are my new teacher.
Happy to help!

I love scales! What are some of your favorite ways to play scales?
I like doing fast 2 octave slurred, specifically on minor scales (It sounds wicked)

When you said “scale AND arpeggio” my mind was blown😅😂 I’m fascinated every day by being a musician simply because it’s ingenious😌
