When Stokes said the scoreline doesn’t do justice to how close we’ve been, my mind immediately flashed back to Kohli in Eng 2018.
Tbh In both series the visiting teams were In pole positions to win the matches but then both the times the host team clutched up in the right moment. Like England did in 2018 and India did in 2024. Both have been hard fought series . The scoreline will say different for those who haven't watched both of the test series.

@@Ayu____shhhhh Yup. We lost both SA and England away series due to bad selection in many matches and mostly due to batting failure. Plus back in 2018 India didn't have a tail which could bat well . Our biggest issue was not being able to get tail enders of opposition teams out quickly which played a huge role In losing both away series.
This is the first time Bazball approach of batting over 100 overs has produced this result. This is explained below

Man, this is what Test cricket does when its played well. It brings out emotions in a way no T20 tournament can. Because its like fine wine & smooth Whisky. By the end of a 4-5 match series, you've gone through & savoured varied emotions & a lot of off field drama. Good stuff.
This guy is a riot. Plays with words better than most cricketers play cricket. So right he is. This series being a connoisseur's delight will forever be remembered for off field rumblings. Kohli's absence is creating a lore without really being felt on the cricket field. Loved it

And "Kohli's absence is creating a lore without really being felt on the cricket field" Could have been 4-0. Distilling an entire series to just 3-1 and saying someone was not needed is not fair to someone who has been, arguably, the best captain in tests for India.
@@CakeorDeath420 Can't help agreeing with you completely. Though I did convey that the series has been a connoisseur's delight and I really mean it for the quality of all round cricket on display. Yes Kohli is great if not the greatest and none can take away his outstanding presence in the field. My reference to him not being missed was purely to emphasize the great work of the present team and I agree Kohli's presence cud have made it 5-0. He will always be needed, even post retirement 😊

Like technically he should be far away from the T20 team given his batting style and yet what happened against Pakistan in the World Cup? He saved us. Honestly this was the most hard fought test series in India. It could have been 2-2 easily. The whole series has been a rollercoaster.
It could have been 4-0 too.... If axar held on to Pope's catch in 1st test.... So i think 3-1 is correct reflection

Felt the same about 2018 eng series. Except sam curran played liked ian botham in that series rescuing either with bat or ball. I thought they played so much better than previous 2 series in 14 or 11 bt result was worse than 2014.
