    Please thank MJ for the great history lesson! Such a lovely tour of your town, and love the cemetary especially (obsessed with them). Your sister's accent is quite unlike any other French accent I've heard. Looking forward to more of your footage, and hope you feel better soon!

    I enjoyed your sister's history lesson so much, thank you, MJ. What an incredible opportunity your boys had to experience the wonderful trip to France. The castle and the history of the different conquerors is so interesting, you made me want to read much more about it. Your dinner looked delicious!

      Jane Shaw it s pretty interesting stuff. william the conqueror was stationed in my village before he embarked to invade england. he was a notmand hence the regio. being called normandy. my son william is named after him. i grew up with his stories and that of the templars. when the body of napoleon was brought back from sainte helene island he passwd by the village too. the old folks who were in the grande armee with him stood by the river in salute as he passed by.

    Once again you manage to provide a wonderful video. Your sister is a treasure and a wonderful historian. I would love to sit in an outdoor cafe with some coffee and listen to both of you tell your stories. Edward and Willie have had an experience that most adults will never have and they are lucky to have you. Amazing video and stories until the next one...... Thank you for sharing you are amazing Sophia!

    Bonjour, merveilleux vlog! Beau pays et passage. Do your boys speak French? What an opportunity for them to have a French Mother and family to speak with. I am from Montreal Quebec, Canada, where just about everyone is bilingual. I grew up in an anglophone family but we all learned French. Merci et Bonnie journee ( my apologies, my I-pad can't type accents).

    Sophia, I hope you didn't think I was criticizing when I asked about your sister's and your accents. I am fascinated by language, and just wondered if your family noticed a difference in how you spoke French now that you have lived in the U.S. so long. I think both of you have a delightful way of speaking, and I so enjoyed your sister's history lesson. I learned French in highschool, but have not retained very much, so I am impressed with anyone who speaks multiple languages.

    • @mygreatchallenge
      @mygreatchallenge  7 лет назад

      no at all, no worries. I am busy and do not have time to reply to comments all the time and in a timely manner. yes there is a difference in how I speak French, I forget words, I lost poetry and rhythm in the language. It drives my mom crazy

    Question: Your sister's English accent is quite different from yours. I'm sure yours is very "Americanized." Does your family tell you that you have an American accent when you speak French?

    • @mygreatchallenge
      @mygreatchallenge  7 лет назад

      friendoftherese1 i have lived in the us since 1992 i would say i am fully inmersed. my sister does not practice english as much as she woukd like too but speaks perfect german and polish. i only speak english and spanish

      Sophia, you speak three languages (I would count French as well ;) ), your sister speaks four, both of you are fantastic in history - what a great educated family you are!

    • @friendoftherese1
      @friendoftherese1 7 лет назад

      Does you family notice a difference in your French accent now that you have lived in the U.S. for 25 years? Your sister was delightful by the way. She is as gifted with history lessons as you are!
