@@paulmarles hi, one question: Is it ok if I have the same cover design and pattern but with different colors, for different interior contents such as (wide-ruled lined, dot grid and journal lined)?
Paul Marles, I did two versions of a book within a niche that could be called a grey area, though as you stated in your sport example I changed the heading and the interior does cater to a niche within a niche. Even the cover I place a different image on it.

I agree with you. I journal, and I only buy dot grid books for my writing. When I need a new one, I like to get a new color or design. So yes, in my experience they would fall into the first category as long as you’re creating unique covers.
Hi, personally I have created the same notebook in French, English, Spanish etc. I prefer to create the same notebook in several languages in order to target several markets. I wrote to Amazon who confirmed to me that it was possible.
Hi Paul, I’ve been binge watching your videos, just wish I’d found them sooner! I just wanted to ask, would it be ok to list a budget planner book, something that would be for the customer to complete themselves but list different colour covers with the same interior?
Hi Paul! I am a newbie with all of this and find your tutorials extremely helpful. I currently have 4 medium to low-content books published following your suggestions. I am very excited and hopeful to continue with this new venture. My question is that I am hoping to take partial interiors of 1 offering and blend it with of the other books so that the customers can have an option of experiences, depending on their goals and visual wants. I feel that this would still be considered "not spam" but would like your perspective. Thanks for everything! Lisa
I recently published a set of 3 low content dream journals with the same interior targeting kids but I've targeted them towards kids with different interests. Is that alright?
One with astronomy graphics one with dinosaur graphics one with butterfly graphics are 3 different books even if all the prompts are the same or just lined pages. "Identical" means the same, if they are different from each other inside then it isn't identical content.
#1 My American brain can't understand the word you are saying at 06:48 hrs. It sounds like "documentary" but I know that can't be right 🙃 #2 is it best to create a bunch of journals first, like 50, and then upload them at one time to my new kdp account? (By this I mean a variety of 10 no content with solid colored covers, 10 no content with text covers, 10 low content lined wirh various sports covers, etc)
I didn't know an account can be terminated. I wrote and published 8 books on Amazon. One called "1 BADAZZ BLACK SHEEP." which has my picture on it, along with a 7-book series called "P.U.S.H. N PLAY FOR LIFE." All of them have different colors. I have a 9th one in the works. I put my heart, sweat, blood, and tears into these stories. I love to write💯
@The Vignesh I made a decent amount, with the other books, although sales have been slow these days. I just published the 9th book as of 1 A.M this morning.
@The Vignesh Thanks 💚😇. I'm not sure what you mean by uploading the covers. I have been thinking about changing the covers of some of the books. I have colorful covers.
@The Vignesh I'm not too sure about that. I did all of my work on word. I don't have paperback covers. I have just ebooks. That's a good question, though.
Hi Paul. Great 👍🏻 info! Question though. Why would dot grid or graphed notebooks be treated differently than lined notebooks? They can be used for many purposes like a lined notebook is used. Thanks!
@@paulmarles Ok thanks Paul ... but isn't that the same as a lined journal or notebook? Both are deemed blank aren't they? Perhaps we're missing something, help. ( I think dot grid just means dots instead of lines, but maybe not ? )
I usually create only 5 different covers for 1 custom interior low content book, or BLANK books. Do you think that could get me banned? Of course my coloring books or CONTENT books only have 1 cover. They're unique per se' because.... well, it'll be F stupid to create multiple covers with a UNIQUE interior (like a HIGH CONTENT book)
Hi and thank you for all the useful content. I have just started following you. I would assume that doing the opposite: using the same cover design for 2 books but with different interiors and titles, like one with simple lined pages and the other with a frame for sketching or dotted, should not be a problem? Or same cover but different sizes?
I read all comments but no one is asking the question I’m looking for …. In the video sounds like you said I’ll be alright but I just want to make sure My books are the line graphs with different covers some had the same name but different art work … I created 25 in one night there still up for review 72 hours… I hope you see this …. Is there a limit to how many I can post a day …. Ima keep fighting hoping to hear from you soon !
I don’t think they publish a limit but I’ve heard some people say that they’ve been unable to upload more than 25 a day and that Amazon puts a limit on it around that number. I’ve always spread mine out otherwise you have all the same books targeting the same niche and keywords competing with each other at the same time on Amazon.
I did get my account banned for not having correct titles. but KDP rep was nice and made me type ( I will not upload contact that may confuse costumers) once i did that they let my account go up and all i had to do was remove all the books there were in review. lucky:D wish i watched your vids then haha
Hello! I'm just starting on this. In another vid, you mentioned using AI to generate a prompt list for a miod tracker journal. How would this fit into the AI content disclosure? Would you still copy paste the prompts? Thank you!!
What if you want to offer the same cover in 3 different sizes? Is there a drop down selection in the menu for your book? Thanks so much for the pragmatic, detailed videos.
@@paulmarles God, and I`ve just published 11 different covers of the 2021 planner. KDP send me a notification concerning only one planner: "During our review, we found the contributor(s) listed for the following book(s) may confuse our customers." But no specific information. Do you think it is because of using the same interior for too many covers? Is it possible?
I'm kinda conserned about the howabout when people use legally obtained content meant and allowed to be used in any commercial uses and use it in their coloring books and such that howabout if there multiple people managing to pick and use same content... like same quotes or patterns though in different orders and designs?
@@paulmarles Absolutely. Obviously. Point being that eventually people's publishings would most likely collide as they have used same content. Hopefully amazon's service really is that good to point out that there are duplicates that needs to be edited.

what is i do a medium content book the handwriting one but the first book i only put letters and on the second one i put the same letters interior with numbers or somthing else so its not exactly the same interior ?
is it ok to make for example 4 different covers for a baby log book? customer can choose if they want cover that is neutral color or more of a girl/boy color. if its ok can they have the same theme on the cover, but colors are different, or should all of them look totally different?
I created a journal with lined pages but it has quotes at the end of each page as well as a daily check-in page. I wanted to have it in different colours, is it safe to have multiple covers for this?
So far I have had one book that has gone live but I made a revision on it and now it is blocked for some reason (a blank handwriting notebook). Amazon also would keep automatically sending one of my books to a draft mode. There is for sure some software that is used to detect anything.
Hi Paul, you're video was very informative, wish i'd seen this before I joined kdp..I previously joined kdp and managed to publish 3 low content books. 2 of them have the same interior since it's only an ordinary notebook. Then after 4days they terminated my account due to a violation of the terms and conditions. I have emailed kdp support asking about it but they won't tell me. I feel frustrated and confused as to why that happened, however, I feel like I am fighting a losing battle so I just let it go..😢
Sorry to hear you got your account terminated. Multiple books of a lined interior wouldn't have created a problem. I know it can be frustrating to get any information.
This might be a stupid question, but I started making low/no content books. When it comes to the ISBN, do you make a copyright page or just let the ISBN show up on the book page on the site?
What about having say 100 coloring pages and making multiple books by mixing the pages up for each book containing maybe 40 pages each. So 1 page may end up being in 10 books but with a different set of pages each time
Thanks, but what do you think only the normal line book with various covers let's say 6 books, then the log book for motorbike riders-truck drivers etc. What about plus minus the same type cover with 6 different books? Since last year all my sales is $24 Just because my cover pages was poor and my keywords. Thanks for the shop where you sell some items. I ones tried to make a firing book for children an amazon blocked my book I just don't know why I guess I hot the interior from the wrong website. My question is let's say I create the interior design myself if I take pictures with my phone the mega pixels is to small so how do I get my own pictures in this coloring book? Thanks
Hi! Thank you for sharing this information. I have a question. I want to publish a medium content journal with the option to choose between two covers. I see that some journals have this option before purchasing on amazon, but I wonder if this is something I can do in KDP. I don't want to upload the same journal, with two different covers. Mainly because of the reasons you discussed.
I’m wondering I created these journals all different colors but same interior but I want to make them available in different colors. I created the interior myself but want to be able to offer the book cover journal in different colors. I did ask them at KDP.
Hi Paul, I've been watching many of your videos and this one was the most helpful but it doesn't quite cover my exact question/situation. Is there any way that I can contact you for a bit more specific help? Happy to pay for your time.
Hi Paul. I just discovered your channel and am learning a lot from your videos. I understand why you wouldn’t put different covers on the same interior in the case of coloring books, puzzle books, guided journals, log books, etc. I’m a little confused as to why you couldn’t put different covers on plain dot grid or graph paper interiors. Those don’t seem any different than plain lined pages or blank pages to me. Did I misunderstand?
I created a guided journal/log book. I designed two different cover styles, two different images that are the main focus of the cover, but i love both! I was hoping to offer both, as I can see people may prefer one over the other. I also created each in three different colors. I didn't do it with the intention to spam at all, I just love the idea of offering these specific style differences, as I feel like I would personally love the options as a consumer of journals/log books myself. Any suggestions? Thank you for your videos! Edited to add: When creating books with same manuscript/interiors but different covers, do you create a whole new ISBN number? Thanks for your help!
@@paulmarles Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! First journal just went LIVE and was glad to see your reply now so I feel better about going ahead with the other cover options. Thank you again!
Are the ISBN's of two copies of a book the same? Can I resubmit the same book to two companies using two different ISBN without having to come up for a review?
If your publishing the same book with a different publisher I suspect they may have different ISBN’s. It would be something I’d need to research if I was going to do that.
Paul I am thinking of getting some books made on fiverr but little concerned about potential duplicate content if the seller sends me something back they sold to someone else. Have you got experience with that. I was looking into coloring books and preschool work books etc.... I got a feeling a lot of the color books are reused designs.
I like your perspective but I wanted different covers because people like different colors… not to beat the system. Do you have a video on how to upload them?
if I use different covers and same lined interiors and only the brand name on the spine. so basically always having the same title and maybe different subtitles would that be a problem? The main focus of my notebooks would be different, beautiful covers.
Paul, you said you had about 450 blank lined journals. Please tell, how to choose original names for such many notebooks? All titles and subtitles should be unique, but I only managed to find about 10 titles).

I agree with you. I journal, and I only buy dot grid books for my writing. When I need a new one, I like to get a new color or design. So yes, in my experience they would fall into the first category as long as you’re creating unique covers.
You are such an awesome guide.
Thanks sir, I appreciate it I'm still looking up to making my first sales.
Good luck 👍
Hi, personally I have created the same notebook in French, English, Spanish etc. I prefer to create the same notebook in several languages in order to target several markets. I wrote to Amazon who confirmed to me that it was possible.
That’s a great idea. No problem there.
Hi Paul, I’ve been binge watching your videos, just wish I’d found them sooner! I just wanted to ask, would it be ok to list a budget planner book, something that would be for the customer to complete themselves but list different colour covers with the same interior?
Yes, you can do that.
Lisa
That sounds like it shoud be ok.
Thanks for this, but in case of notebook can I use the same interior for different niches?
Yes.
I recently published a set of 3 low content dream journals with the same interior targeting kids but I've targeted them towards kids with different interests.
Is that alright?
Yes, sounds fine.
One with astronomy graphics one with dinosaur graphics one with butterfly graphics are 3 different books even if all the prompts are the same or just lined pages. "Identical" means the same, if they are different from each other inside then it isn't identical content.
Thanks this answered a lot of questions I had
You are my inspiration, sir
Thank you 🙏
#1 My American brain can't understand the word you are saying at 06:48 hrs. It sounds like "documentary" but I know that can't be right 🙃
#2 is it best to create a bunch of journals first, like 50, and then upload them at one time to my new kdp account? (By this I mean a variety of 10 no content with solid colored covers, 10 no content with text covers, 10 low content lined wirh various sports covers, etc)
dot grid journals. And I would spread out uploading them rather than all at once.
@The Vignesh Yeah, a whopping $20 😂. Better than nothing I guess.
@The Vignesh Yes you can you a notebook interior with multiple distinct covers. The man in the video has stated as much.
work with ethic and quality that´s all, thanks for your tips , greetings from México
Good information. Thank you!
You’re welcome.
Hi Paul. Great 👍🏻 info! Question though. Why would dot grid or graphed notebooks be treated differently than lined notebooks? They can be used for many purposes like a lined notebook is used. Thanks!
I wanted to know the same thing :)
No they’re not. People who are buying those are often buying them for a specific purpose.
@@paulmarles Ok thanks Paul ... but isn't that the same as a lined journal or notebook? Both are deemed blank aren't they? Perhaps we're missing something, help. ( I think dot grid just means dots instead of lines, but maybe not ? )
Very good info and advice. Thanks!
You’re welcome 👍
thank you so much for this video. you really cleared up this subject
Sounds like you’ll be ok.
Thanks Captain
You're welcome.
Hi and thank you for all the useful content. I have just started following you.
I would assume that doing the opposite: using the same cover design for 2 books but with different interiors and titles, like one with simple lined pages and the other with a frame for sketching or dotted, should not be a problem? Or same cover but different sizes?
No, that’s not a problem at all.
I read all comments but no one is asking the question I’m looking for ….
In the video sounds like you said I’ll be alright but I just want to make sure
My books are the line graphs with different covers some had the same name but different art work … I created 25 in one night there still up for review 72 hours… I hope you see this ….
Hi Paul, thanks for this video! Just a question - how about the same cover and interior, but different sizes? is that allowed? Thanks
Miles, can you tell me which software do you use for Kindle Keyword Research, and why that particular one?
Best regards!
Publisher rocket and Helium 10.
I did get my account banned for not having correct titles. but KDP rep was nice and made me type ( I will not upload contact that may confuse costumers) once i did that they let my account go up and all i had to do was remove all the books there were in review. lucky:D wish i watched your vids then haha
Well done in getting the problem sorted out.
Need to get someone to proof read check your work. I also think you mean ‘contact’.
No, that isn't an option. You would have to publish 3 separate books.
@@paulmarles Thanks, Paul.
Thank you Paul, its interesting video 🙏
Thank you sir. Whats about planner? Is it ok to use the same interoir and different cover designs?
I’d do maybe 3 or 4 max.
Is it possible?
thank you 💓
You're welcome.
If you have 2-page introduction for lined-paper journal (scenario 1), can you have two separate covers? Would you use two different ISBNs with them?
No, you would have to publish two separate books.
Good information and advice.
You’re welcome.
I'm kinda conserned about the howabout when people use legally obtained content meant and allowed to be used in any commercial uses and use it in their coloring books and such that howabout if there multiple people managing to pick and use same content... like same quotes or patterns though in different orders and designs?
I would advise editing it to make it different.
@@paulmarles Absolutely. Obviously. Point being that eventually people's publishings would most likely collide as they have used same content. Hopefully amazon's service really is that good to point out that there are duplicates that needs to be edited.
On the very plain notebooks, making multiple covers for it, should I wait sometime inbetween? Or would it be ok to publish them as I make them
Do you think the advice for #1 and #2 is still relevant two years later? Not planning to go crazy, but just published a low content book and would like to produce coordinating covers for a matching log book set.
Yes, it's still relevant.
Hi paul. Thanks for this Video, i have question. May i publish different cover and different interior with use same tittle.
What if I hire some to create a coloring book and they sold me the same interior they sold to a bunch of other people. Will I be at risk?
Yes
I made a grief journal and I want to make another cover option( more neutral/elegant) with same interior. Can I do that? So my original with graphic cover and a second option more neutral peach with cursive cover font. Something like that but same interior? Do I just make a separate listing with same title etc explaining this one is neutral cover etc same interior
what is i do a medium content book the handwriting one but the first book i only put letters and on the second one i put the same letters interior with numbers or somthing else so its not exactly the same interior ?
Ok.
is it ok to make for example 4 different covers for a baby log book? customer can choose if they want cover that is neutral color or more of a girl/boy color.
if its ok can they have the same theme on the cover, but colors are different, or should all of them look totally different?
I created a journal with lined pages but it has quotes at the end of each page as well as a daily check-in page. I wanted to have it in different colours, is it safe to have multiple covers for this?
Yes, you can do that but remember, if you do that each book will be competing against itself in the rankings.
Thanks Paul!
You’re welcome 👍
Thanks for warning us
You’re welcome.
This might be a stupid question, but I started making low/no content books. When it comes to the ISBN, do you make a copyright page or just let the ISBN show up on the book page on the site?
I just let the ISBN show up on the book page on the site.
Blank Lined journals with same design but different color variations of font and background. Is this still fine to upload many cover color version?
What about having say 100 coloring pages and making multiple books by mixing the pages up for each book containing maybe 40 pages each. So 1 page may end up being in 10 books but with a different set of pages each time
I think each book should have original content.
Hi there! Is it possible to put multiple cover options within one product posting?
are completely blank pages -- no lines . just page numbers at the bottom of each page allowed as a blank journal???
If you just put page numbers they may accept it. If not, many put a faint border on their pages.
Thanks
You could convert the images to vectors.
@@paulmarles thanks I will have to learn how 🤦♀️
Hi Paul. Thanks for the video. Are all your books 120pages 6 x 9 sizes?
No. A lot are 8.5 x 11 inches and 120 pages.
No, it’s not an option in KDP.
@@paulmarles Okay thank you.
Hello from 2 years in the future lol I would like to do the same thing, so I'm just wondering how this worked out for you?
@@jaycherie Hey, I just uploaded with the one cover.
I’m wondering I created these journals all different colors but same interior but I want to make them available in different colors. I created the interior myself but want to be able to offer the book cover journal in different colors. I did ask them at KDP.
Yes, you can.
Thank you very much that very helpful
Yes, you can.
That would be fine. Each one would be published separately so each one would have a separate ISBN number.
@@paulmarles Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! First journal just went LIVE and was glad to see your reply now so I feel better about going ahead with the other cover options. Thank you again!
@@Arkenva how did it do?
Are the ISBN's of two copies of a book the same? Can I resubmit the same book to two companies using two different ISBN without having to come up for a review?
If your publishing the same book with a different publisher I suspect they may have different ISBN’s. It would be something I’d need to research if I was going to do that.
Paul I am thinking of getting some books made on fiverr but little concerned about potential duplicate content if the seller sends me something back they sold to someone else. Have you got experience with that. I was looking into coloring books and preschool work books etc.... I got a feeling a lot of the color books are reused designs.
I haven't got experience with that but it's certainly a potential problem.
I like your perspective but I wanted different covers because people like different colors… not to beat the system. Do you have a video on how to upload them?
Yes, I’ve done video in my book tutorials playlist on uploading books.
if I use different covers and same lined interiors and only the brand name on the spine. so basically always having the same title and maybe different subtitles would that be a problem? The main focus of my notebooks would be different, beautiful covers.
Not a problem but you might find your books never get found in the searches.
I wanted to create a low content book with a color choice for the cover. How can I list them that way?
You can only list them as seprate books. It's not possible to list one book with different color options.
Paul, you said you had about 450 blank lined journals. Please tell, how to choose original names for such many notebooks? All titles and subtitles should be unique, but I only managed to find about 10 titles).
The cover would be your niche and can add to your title. For example: unicorn notebook, space theme notebook, avocado pattern notebook……
@@paulmarles Thank you very much!
