I am thinking of selling on Etsy some gilt and metal bracelets that I designed myself. I have, so far, only made five or six bracelets. I wonder whether Etsy would accept them.
You have not explained the most important part, which is how to receive orders, how to package, how to respond, how to send the package to customer, how to receive fund, and how to troubleshoot in case of any problem.
Haha i think those are much later issues tho, this video is trying not to overwhelm/discourage people from starting. She has other videos that cover those questions!
Steps discussed in the first four mins 1. Decide what you want to sell 2. Establish your business 3. Decide on your branding 4.Prepare marketing materials 5.Legal steps for business establishment
I love the way you incorporated the commercial. Didn’t even realize it until few secs into it. Normally I would skip it but this I watched as it was snuck in but informative.
Thank you so much in helping me know where to start and not feel so overwhelmed with trying to make and sell items. I’m a dislocated homemaker that has to find a new less physical type of income due to recent physical limitations. I’ve worked very hard all my life in back breaking work and since corporate settings aren’t want they use to be I became desperate to find some kind of work I could do at home for the most part. Learning to run a successful business and knowing the ins and outs you definitely provide all the information and tools to make it possible. I’ve listened to another Etsy video but it wasn’t much help and more discouraging and overwhelming. Loved that you broke it all down step by step and how to make it happen!!! Thanks again Kate!!!

I really want to turn my hobby of collecting vintage items into a business, but I've been so scared to start! This video really helped break down the steps. Thank you for making this!
Thank you once again for all of your wonderful videos! I am currently in the process of establishing a relationship with suppliers (two different print on demand companies) and am 9 days away from going live on my first ETSY shop. I am currently beyond overwhelmed, especially in tweaking my designs and photographs, receiving sample products, and shipping times. I have re-watched your videos numerous times and have to say this process would not have gone half as well for me if I hadn't. One larger question I have would be once I go onto ETSY and register, how long is the process for filling out all of my page information, product descriptions, and connections to POD's? I am allowing myself 3 to 4 days for everything on my shop to be uploaded (including all of my listings), is this to short of a time frame? Your are greatly appreciated :)
Hey Lori! Wow, SO exciting!! Sounds like you’re on a great path for launching your shop! I’d say it depends how many hours you’re planning on working on all of this for those 3-4 days. It can be quite a time consuming process so I’d definitely say set aside full days if you can! Maybe just run through the process for one or two listings to get an idea of how long it will take you? The good thing is that you can make “copies” of similar listings and just tweak to reflect the differences if you have listings with a lot of the same information. So excited for you!! 🤩👏

You mentioned adding listings in handmade or digital, but didn't describe what to do with vintage. I don't know what to do with the partner question. I have no partner and my items are all vintage and antique. I'm stuck on that step.
My reasons for closing my shop after a relationship with Etsy for 15 years is that in the end my monthly expenses are around 20% and now they are saying due to new regulations they require my bank account user name and password. I kid you not! I'm done.

Hello Kate. Excellent video! I have a dilemma where I started setting up my shop, named it, and followed all the step leading up to the business portion. This was back in Jan or Feb 2024. I stopped at that point because I didn't have a business checking account at that time. A couple of months later after I obtained a business checking account, I tried to go back in and complete the shop setup and it tells me the name I chose for my shop has already been taken! I reached out to the help people and told them it's been taken, but by ME because I never finished the process! They don't seem to understand what I'm telling them. Do you have any knowledge of this or what I can do?
Hi thanks a lot for all the valuable advice😊I’m just curious, do you have to register for property rights like trademarks, copyright & protected designs on your work before listing?
You don’t have to- technically anything you create you automatically have intellectual property rights to. However, having official “proof” (registered trademark/copyright) serves you well in the case of a legal issue arising. Most sellers don’t actually register for this but you definitely can if you feel the need to.
Can you please make video on the two Etsy selling app? Which one do you use or recommend? There’s not much information on that anywhere. PLEASE HELP. 🚨
Say I was making soap, but I was melting down a pack of unscented soap I bought from Michaels, adding an essential oil like doterra to the soap or maybe a pigment too. I didn’t make the raw unscented soap, I didn’t make the essential oil. Is that still ok or am I thinking too hard
I wish I could get past setting up an Etsy account. I'm stuck on the shipping part. I have three shipping profiles-can't delete any of them, can't get human help and can't move forward from the shipping errors. I was hoping your video might help. I'm ready to give up and just go door to door to sell my walnut castle leg end table with zebra wood inlay. Maybe Ebay would be a bit more user-friendly than spending this last week spinning my wheels? Please let me know what you think?
Hello . Can you help me with a question . If purchasing a business and Etsy is a part of it is there a way around not being able to change the Etsy owner of the store ?
You can sell vintage items(20+ years old), such as vintage jewelry on Etsy. I would recommend to do some research and see how other shops in this niche are performing :)
Have a question about looking what's popular when searching on Etsy. My product is like no other BUT it brings kids shirts and jewelry together so it xould technically be listed but mostly on the jewelry side. I don't want to get into detail about it. Let's just make up a product like a cute pin you can put on your shirt. The pin would be considered jewelry(in my case) but then it attaches to shirts. How do you research this type of thing? It's not kids clothing but connects to it. Do I make sense?
I have a question regarding the quantity of products being held in the shop, if you only have one particular item in stock and more then one person likes it and wishes to buy it, what would be the best way to respond?
Hey Kate I just created my Etsy shop in attempt to sell T-shirts and I have connected it with print on demand to assist in selling. However I am lost on how to get started more so on which application do I use to sell and how it works. Is there a way I could pay you for a 15-20 min zoom session so I you could visualize show me what I need to do? That would be a big help

Hi Kate! We are starting a lazer engraving where we will engrave on wood, glass, metal & Acrylic for Weddings, Anniversary, Birthdays, any Partyings and also we will doing custom cakes topers. Would we go under handmade or under craft supplies???
Hi Kate, thanks for the video(s) , i have been doing the research for my products and I would like what are your thoughts regarding signing up for Creative Market membership , or just buy as needed? Thank you again!
Hey friend! I’d say it depends on how much you anticipate on using it/ purchasing things from them. The membership might make sense financially if you plan to be using it regularly.
This was helpful but now I am not sure what todo. I make coco cones and I use items I purchase from the store like hot choclate, bags, toppings and marshmallows. is that going to be okay with etsy?
Hey friend, Etsy has multiple help articles on selling food, and of course information about it in the seller handbook. Here’s an article that might be helpful: www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/1063591936651
I started an etsy store not long ago, unfortunately, i have had some other things going on. I went to have a look and I had make 2 sales. I was so chuffed. Now for more product listings
You can choose to be a sole proprietor or an LLC. An LLC is not necessarily required, but it can be good to protect yourself in that way once your shop starts growing. Most sellers start as sole proprietors though.
You mentioned reselling🤔 I have a question. As someone interested in selling digital products, my intent was to purchase extended license for commercial use of already made graphic design and then edit with whatever it is I am going to type on it. That's something I wouldn't be able to sell on Etsy??
It really depends. I was referring to just buying and reselling physical manufactured goods that the Etsy seller has no hand in crafting or designing. If you create your own digital product with a design you come up with (altering templates, etc to be your own counts), that is totally fine!
Two Marketing gals getting ready to build an Etsy shop with digital and print-on-demand products. Curious if you think starting out with Pinterest & Etsy ads is smart for new shops as well? Thanks and love your content!
If anyone can answer my question I would be super grateful. I am trying to set up an Etsy shop selling digital prints, but I’m confused on the sizing. I know that when someone makes a purchase, they will be sent a link to follow and download. How can I make multiple sizes and have it all included in the one link so they can download whatever size they need? ( I hope this makes sense).
Thanks friend! Whether or not you accept returns is totally up to you. Just keep in mind that buyers will feel more confident making the purchase if they know they can return if they need to. With that said, I’d say it depends on the type of product- completely custom orders most times are not able to be returned, etc.
Hello! I had an idea of selling clothing that I wax/waterproof myself, would a new carhartt jacket that I take and wax be considered a handmade item? Thanks!!
I don’t know if I would agree with the last comment about pricing low at first and basically breaking even or making small profit, then raising prices, selling less and making more profit. If I sell items at 2.50$ and sell 20, I make the same if I sell at 5.00$ and sell 10 items.
I hear you friend. The purpose of this is to build a momentum of sales on your listing to help it rank higher. You should eventually raise prices when you’re selling more consistently
Hi, I noticed that on Etsy, when it comes to the the list beneath the Variations section, there's the empty boxes on the left-hand side(plz don't get it confused with the right hand side beneath the "visible" sign). I've connected my printify account with etsy but I actually don't understand what those left side boxes mean and whether I should tick them because in all the tutorials I've watched they left them empty. It was something that made me consider asking chat gbt and it said I should tick those boxes. Now I'm confused. FYI it's just a top with 4 different colours and sizes. I really appreciate any response.

Do I have to register my Etsy shop as a business and pay taxes when I sell digital products?
In the US, you're expected to report your online income as it is still income. Not just profit but any expenses
In the US anything over 600$ per year you have to file taxes on.
unless u a minor
depends, it’s state to state it would be considered income tax meaning it’s a state tax, in NY i think it’s about $1,000 or more is when you have to file it

Hi thanks for the video but i am not from US, but germany, do I need LLC?
Hi, how do you sell on this site? Why these problems happen to me: does not accept any credit card in my possession why? Is this site broken or what?
Thank you so much for this ❤
You’re so welcome!! 🤗
I am having trouble to get more visits on my store, have been paying $3 ads per day with etsy but not much luck. What do you think I should do?
I started an etsy store not long ago, unfortunately, i have had some other things going on. I went to have a look and I had make 2 sales. I was so chuffed. Now for more product listings
That's great! Congratulations. Have you listed other products?
So, I literally have to officially register the business to be able to sell on Etsy, right?
Wow,the video is really good and helpful.i will register officially nd impose social media platform
You do not have any graphics or fonts like you say in the video below. Are you planning on putting it in your pinned by katiehayes?
Love this! Blessings!
Yay! So glad! 🤗
Is separating yourself from the Etsy business necessary? Can you do it under your own name without an LLC?
You can choose to be a sole proprietor or an LLC. An LLC is not necessarily required, but it can be good to protect yourself in that way once your shop starts growing. Most sellers start as sole proprietors though.
Hello, what’s a simple program to use for bookkeeping as a business?
Hey friend! I use and love Quickbooks :)
Great advise! Thank you! I just started this week. I am doing Digital Downloads.
How is going so far?
@@MilicaStojsic no sales,
Update?
@@literallynothing9634 , well I have 5 sells, SmilingCatDesign, what is wrong?
I don’t understand where you go to start a shop on ETSY. Is it on the same app that you shop on?
Hey friend! Yes it would be under the same account that you currently have, or you can start a new one
If you have a item that you bought a design for than hand made it yourself can you than still sell it on etsy
Great video and so much knowledge. Is there a choice where I don't accept returns?
Thanks friend! Whether or not you accept returns is totally up to you. Just keep in mind that buyers will feel more confident making the purchase if they know they can return if they need to. With that said, I’d say it depends on the type of product- completely custom orders most times are not able to be returned, etc.
Is Etsy better then Vinted?
Hi Kate, how come i have to pay 20 dollar fee for being a seller if i only want to sell digital stuff??
There’s a 20 cent listing fee on every listing no matter the product type
I can find the link to sign up as Etsy seller and establish my shop.
I was thinking about painting or embroidering on already manufactures items. Do you know if this would violate any terms through Etsy?
Hello Have you seen any one doing this on their etsy store?
Wanna try to sell my handmade stuff. I love creating and just making things.
Go for it friend!! Cheering you on! 🤩
