    I checked out the cost of a new carb from your links and yes it must have been a labor of love to clean and rebuild yours. Also the fuel line removal pliers have been added to my shopping list. Thanks for the great vid.

      It is a labor of love. I don't do small engine work full time or anything, so I enjoy it when I'm off work. The fuel line pliers are handy.

    You weren't optimistic about that carb but I had a hunch that it would work good after you cleaned it so good. I just had a similar "caramel syrup" coated chainsaw carb that was a result of sitting for 20 years. Never thought it would work after cleaning ... but it did. Always more satisfying to rescue stuff.

    Talk about timing...ive got an MTD with the same engine in 8 HP that "lops" or whatever its called and now...thanks to you...I have the guts to pull and clean the carb. Its also hysterical that you ran the snowblower through the grass. I do the same thing to make a pth for my dog.

    Great job! It's rare for a Tecumseh carb to come back to life in that bad shape. I find if I think a carb is too far gone then it'll clean up & work well. Then it's the ones that look great, clean them & they still don't run properly or at all.

    Great video. The only small issue is that you put the bowl on backwards. The raised part should be turned around so it is under the floats hinge.

    I didn't have a lot of hope for that carbuerator either, but the guys over at 805Roadking's channel love 'em (if memory serves) and after seeing this one come back, I understand better why they do. Did you use PurplePower full strength? Thanks Doublewide for this one and all the other great videos you've put up!

    Great video! Have you ever had a chance to compare the 2 types of carburetors and determine what the reason is behind having the adjustments vs not having any? I have always been curious about the run ability factor of the two.👍👍

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  3 года назад

      Adjustable carbs are better they let you make adjustments for optimum running condition.

    The best kind of carb cleaner I've found is from advance or auto zone it's in a gallon paint can and there is a basket in the can. Let a carb set in it 24 hours it will clean it no matter how gumed up the carb is.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 лет назад +1

      That does work well. I see Mustie1 uses that in his ultrasonic cleaner. I have been experimenting with heating the carb a little with a torch. You can open up the idle passage because it melts the gum down to liquid.

    Must of done close to 50 of these in the last 10 years in SER. What site did you order your carb from at that price. It is a satisfaction to get stuff running again. That's what drives me.

    Nice work DW6, don't see much snow here in NC but I did when I lived in CT. I had a Simplicity riding mower that I had a plow on and chains, worked pretty well. I liked the Simplicity, don't remember what engine it had, ran really well. I use a fuel additive called K100, works great, use it on my two Honda gensets, my John Deere riding mower, and walk-behind mowers and string trimmers. Your videos are great, hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 лет назад

    Your “fuel line pliers” is actually a spark plug pliers” but it did the job.

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 лет назад

      amzn.to/2yLCSun You are right. I got them from my Grandfather when he pasted away. I was thinking why would you use these for spark plugs, so I looked it up (see link) and it is for the spark plug boot. I have been using them for years to remove hoses and they work pretty well for that kind of thing. Thanks I learned something new. Bob

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 лет назад

      The info. I'm getting here is that Stabil is what causes all the gum. I saw Donyboy73 had a great video on a product called k100. I'll take a look at the RPM next time I fire it up. Thanks again for the tips.
