I've found it's easier if you microwave just the coconut oil till it's warm and melted , but not too hot to touch, and then add the chocolate and let it set until it melts, then just stir and microwave a few more seconds to get whatever didn't melt the first time. It has less chance of the chocolate burning that way.
Thanks for the tip
And this is why I live for the comments section.. . All the great tips! Thanks so much 👍🏾😁
Gonna try it!
Had I known it was this easy to make, I would've started making this years ago instead of going to the ice cream shop. Thanks!
No problem! :)
@Siddiq Mohammed I too noticed that. This guy is insane
@@Piadoroshi some people like to make a big deal out of things
Meeeee tooooo
That gorgeous crackle when the knife goes through the ice-cream! I knew when I heard that I found the right recipe for me!! 👌
Your method is by far the easiest and best way to make this. Good job!
And she starts pouring it on the ice cream 😩 amazing ❤️💖❤️ just what I needed.

Thanks so much. I’ll be trying this later today Thursday 1/27/23 I’m freezing bananas right now to do this since I don’t have ice cream 😊 new subscriber.

Thank you.
Watching this whilst eating your own is like being in a blissful chocolate covered ice cream echo chamber 😄❤️

Love the drips...makes it look more delicious. Can I use this with a marshmallow topping?
O MY GOD THAT MICROWAVE!
Ikrrrr
You have a drawer microwave? That's amazing
Breakfast of Champions 🤤🤤🤤
Is it possible to use a similar technique for other flavors, like vanilla, strawberry, or possibly something more savory?
Forget Magic Shell! How did she put that ice cream cone upside down without the ice cream 🍦 coming out? That would be the Magic right there!!!!
OMG MAYFIELD'S!!!! I'm homesick now!!!!!
good
They have these here in Australia but we call them choc tops and they're traditionally served at the snack bar at movie cinemas
I always bought in the supermarket in Germany. Didn‘t know it‘s that easy to make by scratch.

Would this work over something like a cupcake?
Now is the coldness from the ice cream a necessary component in the hardening process? Because I want to use this for a cake.
Nicolas Gonzales did you try it on cake?
I think so yeah. It's the coconut oil, as soon as it's a little bit colder than room temp, it's a solid (sort of). You could always keep the cake refrigerated before/after coating it with the magic shell
It depends on the coldness of the icecream. Coconut oil hardens when cold.
How to you store this
What is your variation like how much oil vs chocolate
now is there a way to do this with other flavours? like strawberry or bpue raspberry?
Awesome I want to make the old cherry dipped cone, that dairy queen stopped making at most dairy queens! So sad! Just need to find cherry flavor candy or syrup. Any suggestions?????
4 yrs later.... i think they are bringing that one back for a limited time 😂 🤤
Please make one for the cherry top shell as well. You will get a ton of views
Does this work on strwaberries too?
Does any other fats/cooking oils work?
What will the ratio be if I am using Cocoa Powder instead?
Would this work using butter instead of coconut oil?
Hi. Can I use cooking oil (palm oil) instead of coconut oil?
I don’t think that would work, but if you’d like to get a similar effect you can use unsalted butter
💚
I saw another recipe that claimed it was like Magic Shell but using a large amount of chocolate and only a spoon full of oil, I suspect that as soon as its cools its going back to hard chocolate, so it cant be stored in liquid form like MS.
With the amount of oil you're using, it seems like it might stay liquid even after it cools and only gels once it hits the icecream. Am I correct?
Its entirely too expensive buy the brand and it would be great if this works just like MS.
Shortening also works. Haven’t tried butter but someone tell me if that works too.
coconut oil becomes solid around 73 degrees. using coconut is good because it is more likely to solidify. i imagine if you have a very cold freezer and you're either in a cold place to eat or you eat fast you can try other mixtures, but i think the coconut idea is best.
How to store the leftover dip?
Can I use other oil
I have a quick question, I was wondering, I am looking for a recipe for the Carvel's cookie crumbles inside the ice cream cake. I googled it and it says it's oreo cookies and magic shell. My question is will they harden if they weren't used in ice cream?
did you find any answer? I love those crumbles, they were the main reason i used to ask for a carvel's ice cream birthday cake. were you born around 1970 by any chance? lol.
Ermahgerd! I've never seen a microwave like that! Mind blown
Chef.. can you give me some advice please?? So, i've been made some chocolate and try to froze it.. but it doesn't froze.. why?
Thanks chef..
Can you make a magic shell with different flavors?
Not using chocolate?
can I use Butter instead of Coconut oil?
it probably wont freeze as hard or as well, but if you have a good freezer (5 degrees F and below) it might work, but eat fast, or with a spoon. sounds yummy.
Volume is the measured. Mass is the weight
can chocolate syrup instead of chocolate bar?
you want something that likes to be solid. if you use syrup, it probably wont harden, but maybe if you try 50/50 you have a shot
Does this work with other oils
coconut oil freezes solid at about 73 degrees f. that's the main reason for it, but its delicious and medium chain fatty acids are very healthy! (there's lots of shoddy/incomplete science that has spread misinformation, but if you're allergic or just don't like coconut, understood)
is it okay to use extra virgin coconut oil?
I know this is late, yes I just tried it and it was good.
how many cup of chocolate and coconut oil?
8 ounces of chocolate bar and a half cup of coconut oil.
im allergic to coconut what else can i use
vaseline
I’ve seen recipes where you can substitute the coconut oil for unsalted butter :)
Whale fat
2:08
What kind of microwave is that?! 😮
I’m allergic to coconut… what else can I use?
Try cocoa butter, it's a fat that is also solid at room temp and melts easily
2 parts semi sweet chocolate 1 part coconut oil
You say this is by volume. And then say to use 1/2 lb chocolate and 1/4 lb coconut oil. What is right?
0:33 - So by volume you mean by weight 🤣
Open toed shoes!!!!! You tripping
Sound quality weak
