I love my 2012 v6 mustang, it's a great all-around daily driver.
Any problem with your mustang?. How many miles per gallon do you get??
Jesus Vargas I have a 2011 and I’ve had it a little over a year bought with 122,000 on it and now it’s over 146,000 and had no issues, I usually get 22-24 mpg but I have a heavy foot
@@ItsCleetus Hey, im about to get a 2011 mustang v6 at 93k miles for $9.5k. Is this a good deal? Also any updates on whether you experienced any issues since your last comment?
@@LegitVeggies Welcome to the 3.7 cyclone community. The facts you may need to know: 1. Prepare for a new water pump when you replace the drive belt. 2. Rear lower control arms always make squeaking noise. 3. Engine hood corrosion.
@@yanghu3592 can you fix the engine hood corrison
Back when Ford put effort into the V6 and tried to promote it. Now they just push it off the the side and hope people buy the Turbo 4 instead.
Leif Jensen truth. The new v6 is weaker and slower than the 11-14s :(
@@zachsmcl Based upon what? I am curious because the PP V6 has a semi-performance gear. I have seen a lot of Mustang V6 vids that do not understand the affect gearing has on performance...yet they tend to make believe they are car guys. The 11 V6 has a aggravating dead spot in the torque curve which is easily corrected with a simple bolt on mod. Not calling you comment out, asking for clarification.
@@randsonic what bolt on mod would you recommend?
@@4gegtyreeyuyeddffvyt From my research the aftermarket throttle body substancially changes the torque to help midrange. That and a CAI would be my first mod. If not a PP car Inwould swap rear end gearing to 3.55 or 3.73 range.
Above comment was meant to read "torque curve"
Love the burnout, that v6 sound 10x better than the old 4.0!!
11 years later still waiting on that to be continued...
Frrrrrr😢
So true, I own a 2012 with the V6 Performance Package, it has a wonderful exhaust note and as tested by Road & Track performed 0-60 in about 5 seconds... That's V8 territory as far as I'm concerned....more than enough for a daily driver....Thanks
This is the first review I've seen done only in the passenger seat. I think my girlfriend should watch it because she'll be the one who's in the passenger seat.
V6's are back. They are under rated. I am so happy about this cause i built a buick v6 back when I was in high school. They have come a long way since then. Great for a daily driver car. For my weekend car, I prefer a 540 big block chevy!
302 all day
***** a 540 stroker and a boss 302 aren't even in the same class not that I'm dissing the 302 but the 540 has 238 cubic inches on you and its a stroker and a big block
steven14621462 Which makes it considerably heavier and more bulky and less room to work with in the engine bay. The 302 is just a model of perfection. Now that massive 540 is badass to the bone, and has already proven itself time and time again. But I do have to say the 302 will just naturally be superior due to its power to weight ratio over the 540.
I don't understand why the v6 gets so much hate. I have a 2017 v6. I love it.
That test track looks really fun.
Damn the mustang looks way more fun to drive than the other 2
they definitely drove the mustang the hardest
My girlfriend just bought one of these. Lava red.. It has to be the most powerful v6 I've had the pleasure to drive. It's stance is very solid, almost too solid, it doesn't want to drive with the road I find, more... Pushes against the road quite a bit.. Although it is quite a lot to handle. It's very tough, and if you have the experience and personality/fitness to drive it, you can drive it like it was meant to be driven. However if you're unsure in your abilities, it will be in control
Dodge was stupid to put a single exhaust on that year instead of dual
Oh Lord, the war never ends :D
"okay we get it...you dont get to drive the car"
This was the comment i was looking for
i mean i’d be pissed to that’s boring asf he came all that way to be a passenger princess
It's a beautiful and assuring sight when you see a V6 Mustang doing a burnout like its stronger siblings.
I feel all warm and fuzzy. :D
Please no more power braking burnouts its cheesy
seriously looking at this car as a replacement for my 2001 4.6L.
well done ford for not laying down a bunt on the V6.
read comment above from me, 60's mustangs were offered with inline 6's or V8's... V6's didnt come until generation 2, 1974-1978,
there was a time also that mustang was only offered as 4 cyl or V8. (87-93)
so mustangs have not always offered V6 engines.
they have however, always offered a V8 at a price / performance that was very enticing, which is why it still exists today.

Here is my version of the 2011 Ford Ranger: and using the heavier body w/SuperCab
2011 Ford Ranger SuperCab (2-Dr)4x2 V6 3.7
The 3.7 V6 revs higher than the 4.0 V6: the 3.7 V6 has 305 hp @ 6500 rpm and a red-line of 7000 rpm. With that many rpm's highway-speeds can easily be reached even with the 4.10:1 Final Gear. The 4.0 isn't made to do 6500 rpm and it only has 207 hp @ 5250 rpm
6R60 Six Speed Automatic-Transmission
Trans Ratios 4.17 2.34 1.52 1.14 0.86 0.69 better for the 3.73:1 Final Gear Ratio
The Motor could crank the hell out of the Rear-Wheels and Top Speed would be very high. Along with low range power to boot. Using the Regular Cab body would be a lighter option weighing a little over 3100 lbs.
Here is the rpm vs gear ratio results using the 3.7 V6 with the Six-Speed Automatic Trans at 6500 rpm. And using the 235 75 R15s that come with the 2011 Ranger.
at 4.17 1st gear: 33 mph 2nd @ 58 mph 3rd @ 90 mph 4th @ 119 mph 5th @ 158 mph and 6th @ 197 mph
But of course it wouldn't be safe to do 100+ mph in a pick up truck anyway.
(((Just imagine the possibilities))),... of a small pick up that can be used for more things than the Ford Mustang. The Ford Ranger with the 3.7 V6 with the same power would save more fuel, (even more with the Regular Cab version) because of the light weight.
A lot can be done with a small pick up with the 3.7 V6, like hauling cargo longer distances, has a full-frame for more strength, can tow and haul more weight and still be used as a daily-driver, almost like a car.
gotta love how the mustang and the camaro are the only cars able to burnout at the end. im seriously considering buying the mustang v6. AMAZING
I am a ford guy always have been, with this said I have always had to be happy when ford would always get last place or 2nd places at best, to see ford somehow changing things I am very happy to see ford crushing pretty much anything they have made in the past from their v-6 up to their v-8 they are doing very well and will only get better!!
I can't believe I'm saying this, but recently I've been thinking the Mustang looks the best out of the 3 ponies...
3 great cars, but has always, the Mustang stands out
I knew my Mustang could smoke the tires just never wanted to cuz tires cost WAY too much! Awesome video. Mine's a 2014
im not gonna be able to sleep till i see part 2 but i know as well as everyone else that the mustang wins!
I have agree with Thepantydroper, I Have owned Brittish, and German cars my whole life and it took me about a hour after a test drive to buy the Mustang. I didn't go with the performance package because I like to do my own mods, but wow best American v6 to date.
This Mustang 2011 is a real beast. I'm sold. I'll be saving my money and this will be my next car. Can't wait to put an Injen Cold Air intake and some OZ Racing wheels on it.
im just glad to see that the camaro will have some fair competition now. when the new 5.0 stang comes out, camaro will have a run to work for
Such a tease at the end!
Wars are fought with V8's. fortunes are made with V6's.
@MarineCorpsMarksman exactly. Ford has just been cruising along till the Camaro came along. Which I'm glad it did cause the mustang is really stepping it up now. Can't wait to get my 5.0 when I get out of the military.
OMG did u see the freakn grip the mustang got compared to the camro and the challenger. This really my dream car i would pay anything for this car it is awesome!!!.When tested it measured up to 308 hp and weiged 287.5lbs. how awesome is that. GO HEAD FORD steppn up yall game love it
I think this vid proves that all 3 of these cars are exceptional. I would happily own and drive anyone of them.
Live rear axle looks fun to slide around corners :)
Funny how the editor says "but we can't drive the car" :P
Live axle is the way to go for fun IMO. IRS grips better but live axle allows more go fast options for steering the car.
Being a born and bred mopar man, i have to say that new stang is IMPRESSIVE. I have always had a thing for them, and owned a 68 coupe. But this, America, is a revolution in the pony car world. The V6 is the new small block, and Ford has obviously done thier homework. Plus its nice looking. I hope the big 3 continue this trend toward affordable, powerful V6 powered ponycars, WTF took so long LOL!
Hahaha, the driver when driving the V6 'Stang, was like, "Eff this road!" and just started ripping through the course.
Had a rental 2013 by mustang convertible automatic and it was a blast. Very rev happy and quick
This is the first time in many years that the base Mustang doesn't look cheap in comparison to the GT. Ford has a winner on their hands in the entire 2011 Mustang lineup.
I like the new Mustang, that new V6 engine is very efficient and a real step ahead for American Car Industry. No more huge inefficient V8 engines producing what an Asian sport car can do with a V6. New Mustang 2011 got technology under the hood and it is able to stand side by side with modern sport coupe cars. Now the Mustang is a real competitor for "bangs for the bucks" cars like the Genesis Coupe. Please dont compare this car with a Luxury Wannabe G37. BTW, New Mustang looks great!!
Nice to see the V6 Mustang is no longer a fashion accessory.
I think the v6 on the mustang seems like a great twin turbo platform. 300+ hp stock is awesome. First time i even consider buying a mustang. Well the GT.
HOT DANG! I'm sooo happy Ford finally got there priorities straight with the V6 model!
Worth watching, just to see the cars dance on the track.
i think this is the best V6 ever made
31 MPG 308 HP
2011 V6 is kicking some major butt and taking names. I have 05 GT and I going have to start to watch out for these on the street. Time to call Mr. Whipple or Kenne Bell. :)
im a chevy guy but im going to admit that the new 5.0 mustang, definitely seems like its going to be a good car.
Goddamnit! That Mustang 3.7 is so badass. You know the Chevy and Dodge got tore up in that drag. Great video.
All three of the cars are really awesome. I love muscle cars.
As you are great mustang...... You are a legend
@byronmohawk Twin independent-variable cam timing. It's an extension of the milder version the three valve 4.6 of 2005-2010. Of course the 2011 has 4 cams and the neat thing about the new system is the intake side has it's own cam and differs it's variation from the exhaust cam. These new heads will outflow anything out there today, not including race heads to be sure, but production heads.
Ok, you have still missed the point I was making. Here are some directions:
1) Go to Autotrader.
2) Select Chevrolet and type in your zip.
3) Select New Cars and select Chevrolet Camaro.
4) Look at all of the Camaro SSes starting at at least $35k MSRP and averaging around $37k after extraordinary dealer markup.
This may not be the same in all areas, but in the DC area you are not going to find a new Camaro SS for less than $35k. This is similar to what dealers did with the Saturn Sky.
The suspension on the challenger looks fairly soft. That Camaro looks beautiful, i'd love a V8 one of those.
such a tease with the drag race at the end lol!
I'm so excited. Cant wait to see the next videos!
A friend of mine just put a twin turbo on his v6. 6psi (low balling it for safety) He broke 435HP. No long term damage so far. Its been months.
I talked with Scott Settlemire, one of GM's lead designers for the Camaro for the past 20 years or so, and he said not to worry at all about the new Mustang. Told me the new Camaro, whether it be the '11 SS, '12 SS, or the Z/28 will be even better.
the camaro is still my personal choice its just insane and beautiful
All very good looking cars. I drove a V-6 challanger last year,
I was impressed!
What a tease I was looking into a new car and the2011 mustang just made the list.
Its annoying how people act like they wouldnt drive this. Sure it isnt the best looking mustang. But it is badass...
i love how the Mustang is the only car being driven at the limit while the others are just being.... driven. lol
A Mustang with Variable Valve Timing. I love how Honda's system is being used by pretty much everyone now. It's just too bad that Honda couldn't keep their technology as interesting now compared to when it first came out. With that being said... when this car comes out, I think I'll test drive it.
I have a 2012 and its pretty impressive
i can see the camaro v6 in the corner crying and the challenger v6 writing a suicide note
I'm totally getting that car!!!!! I can't wait
Did you ever get it lol
my dream car. All back. :)
high strung V6's are the way of the future.
@quietfamily 2011. He works with ford so he got his hands on one way in advance. He's going upgrade the internals. While they are aluminum and very strong he doesn't want to chance break them. He's giddy.
When was this V-6 Engine change for the 2011 announced? I really would have loved to know that before I bought my 2010 V6 in December, I still love my Tang but I would have waited for the 2011, I wonder what effect would this have on the resale value on the 2010 and Prior?
@Weazell of course it was, because its a ford test track
but theirs no doubt in my mind its capable.
@chrisstephens101 no, its got a solid rear axle, not a live one, but its a real good one. it actually handles better than the camaro, and the challenger -because the last one is super heavy, and a V6 cant handle it. - and the solid rear axle is also stronger. so it has good things from both types of suspension.
These V6's are getting some serious power now a days
To me it looks like the driver pushed it harder, way harder.
I got the 2010 V6 mustang and it's lots of fun. I was going to upgrade some parts but now I think I will trade it in for a 2011.
I understand what you are saying. I do know that I would consider one of these as a first car for my teenage kids when I would never have done so with the 3.8 Mustang we have endured for so long. The price and mileage are great, and yes, feel free to stomp my college kid in your GT. Humility is often a good lesson.
thank you! it's so obvious the driver resorted to drifting because the stang cant hug the corners at that speed. so what do you do? use the sliding to your advantage and pass it off as a driving style so ford doesn't look bad. we'll see the real comparison when they can drive them.
@metalmanjakson01
Exactly. I think it'd be worth the extra money for the V-8, probably much more mod-friendly too. Very glad they brought back the 5.0.
good thing it also sounds good. that seals the seal for me, I'm buying me one
I got sick only by looking at the cars wave up and down. Reminds me of the old citroen hydrolic suspension.
I just wish Ford would step up to the table with some more performance oriented cars. While they may not be big sellers they are what creates buzz and bragging rights. You know people come to see the vette on the show floor and end up buying a sedan. Ford needs its own super car show piece to get people talking and generate interest.
Look how much publicity cars like the ZR1, GTR and R8 have brought to the manufactures. That in itself is priceless even if the cars dont make a dime.
i would say that about the 2010 v6 stang, but 305hp is a really good number. just because ppl don't buy the v8 doesn't mean theyre not interested in performance. the kind of performance people prefer varies from person to person.
Now this is great Ford is really starting to pull out all the stops. The Mustang is even lighter than the Camaro and Challenger too!
I am bout to get my driver license in a few month and im around 5ft 3in or so and i been thinking about get a mustang but i dont know if its a good car for my height. plz help
sweet dude!! it is such a badass car
Engine Weights are: 4.0 around 400 lbs while the 3.7 Weighs around 366 lbs.
Can you please tell me what type of grille and paintjob that is on the mustang? I am considering purchasing the SAME EXACT MUSTANG and I would very much like to know the name of that paint job and grille
Thank you
Ingot Silver paint color. The grille is part of the MCA package but similar aftermarket grilles are available.
i own one of those its 2012
ford mustang california edition
Get a Roush RS if you want a V6. They are roughly the same price, but just look insane and come with a couple nice upgrades. The performance and premium packages, plus the Roush body kit, paint scheme, and lower kit and those badass Pirelle P-Zero tires.
+Rene Rodriguez You can buy several different grilles man, the modern billet, Cerevini, the cali edition uses that grille, just research it man, use americanmuscle.com
awe, I think it outta stay. Its been a good sport about all this.
the v6 would be the car to mod for track racing!
Really miss owning this car
great, they're finally modernizing the engines, now time for the suspension. if the mustang had a proper independent setup with a limited slip diff, i might actually consider buying one...
Ahh that mustang was pulling away.. love it
Haha no there were a lot of questions, including that one, that I didn't get to ask. I was pretty nervous cause I'm only 18 and we were just walking around the San Diego Auto Show talking about Camaros. It was awesome!
The reason for the Mustang can get to peak power quicker than the Camaro and Challenger is pure logic. The mustang is close to 300LBS lighter than its competitors, meaning that it will accelerate quicker stop better and can be pushed harder through the corners.
The 2006-2009 V6's were "OKAY" in appearance with the pony package.
But yah the 4.0 outputting 210HP was shitty.
unfortunately as a college student , I drive a 06' V6.
This looks like an awesome improvement.
mustangs were made with V6's back in the 60's too, the V8's always got the spot light for obvious reasonses
@CorvetteRacingFan I agree with you. Everyone has a story about how they paid this or that depending on where you are in the country and a host of other factors. The fact is, the MSRP for the 2011 Mustang V6 is $22,145 and the 2010 370Z is $30,410. Everything else is meaningless because deals and different packages can be had on both sides, but the MSRP is what it is. The GT Premium is $32,845 which is a bargain IMO for the performance.
@13tomabram do you have any proof that the Z/28 will be produce?
@sawink If you didn't notice the new 5.0 mustang has 100 HP over the 2010 GT mustang. Combine that with a track package and the new 5.0 should be the single best performing car for the price on the road. Close behind is this new V6 mustang. I just read that the track pack V6 will even have a better stopping distance than a Mazda Miata ..... if you know anything about racing that's big time. Pay attention this new V6 stang will be a huge hit for club racing and autocross for the next few years.
i read about this mustang 0-60 in 5.4 however the only bad thing its got a governor and shuts off at 113. I hated fords all my life up until they started coming out with the new fusions and focuses and now THIS!! yeah this is my next car.
I'm trying so hard to get my dad to buy this for his next car. We've already test-driven it!
wtf since when does ford put the reverse on the left? Isnt that a Euro thing?
Finally a fun rental car!!!! Love this car.
