Today I did a comparison between the Softube Bus Processor and the Rupert Neve Portico 2 Master Buss Processor. I think the Softube compressor does a great Job. I really had to work hard to make the analog Rupert Neve sound better than the digital Softube. I needed the blend control, the Red Silk and the stereo field editor to make the difference. With those settings the Rupert Neve wins without a doubt. But the Softube Bus Processor really did a great job. It's definitely worth the money. It may be the best digital bus compressor out there.

Hello teacher, please, I need your help, I just bought a yamaha cp88 and I like it a lot, but I have a big problem, I want to use it as a usb midi controller, in Cubase to play kontakt vsts, I am not selecting it as a usb output , because I have my monitors connected to another audio interface, I'm only interested in the cp88 keys, my problem is that when I play, the vsts sound very low in volume, I can't play loud. try to change the keyboard sensitivity to the other options, but no change please Dom, I have until tomorrow to return the cp88 to the store where I bought it, my question is, can not change the sensitivity of the keys, if I am using the cp88 as usb host midi controller, without selecting it as audio? Please, if you can help me and can you tell me if it is possible to do it, how do I do it? or if you can confirm that it is not possible, I return it to the store tomorrow. I do not want to lose my money. please. thank you very much in every way.
The CP88 has a fantastic velocity response and the VSTs should sound absolutely fine. Interface has nothing to do with midi velocity. Your problem is elsewhere, not with the CP. you will be hard pressed to find a Keybed with such great action. Now what the problem might be is difficult to assess. It could be a hundred reasons. One of the most common ones is that you might have used the expression pedals and you turned down CC11 (expression). This will turn down the level of any VSTi. Very common issue that people face even with the Komplete Kontrol that I own as the slider under the pitch bend controls the CC11 and turns the volume down. That’s my initial guess. But I am pretty positive that it’s not a problem with the CP88. Something else is going on here :)
@@DomSigalas Hi Dom, I only have one sustain pedal connected to the sustain switch input on the cp88. The strange thing is that I select other velocity curves in cp 88, and I don't get any sensitivity change when playing. I also have an m audio hammer pro 88 connected at the same time. and with the same kontakt libraries, I can get to about 120 approx with the hammer, and with the cp88 I have to press the keys very hard and I barely get to 65 approx, I don't know what my problem could be, it's a shame because the I like the keyboard very much. is that for example, with the ot berlin strings, the cp88 does not reach the highest volume of expressiveness with this library. with the hammer 88 pro in "linear" if I can. which is a curve of m audio, which works according to how hard you press the keys. the cp88 continues to sound very low.
I have a video about my favourite bus compressors. You can check it out and make up your mind :) I always suggest trying out the demo first. For me, this plug-in sounds amazing on the master bus- it doesn’t only add compression, it really inflates the mix in a nice pleasing way. I hope the video demonstrates this.
Hi Dom! Off topic question: Is there a way to see the actual chords at the Cubase midi editor when using the NI Komplete Kontrol chord feature? I would like to see the chords and not just the keys that I press when recording it in Cubase. Same with the arpeggio feature
@@DomSigalas I know but It would be good to see the chords when recording them using the Komplete Kontrol chord feature. I don't understand why it's not possible😔 Thank you for the info
@@DomSigalas So NI doesn't want it to work the way it should? Kind of disappointed in NI if that's the case. I saw that someone had a workaround using a midi channel or so, but I can't find it anymore. Do you maybe have a workaround? I think all Komplete Kontrol useres would appreciate it. Thank you for the infos You rock! BOOM! :)
@@AKkov I don’t think they don’t want to. I think they intend this feature for beatmakers.y workaround is the chord pads. Way more flexible and integrated into Cubase and you can do way more than the KK :)
To be honest, a lot of the warmth you hear in this mix comes from Dom's facial expressions.

can you use this on just the master?
i Just shot this against the Weise MKII Compressor....this is good but the full Weiss Comp blows this away
Because Weiss gives you a wider stereo image...which is vital on Mix or Master bus...and its more a tone shapper as well and its Compression is more accurate and transparent....I like this...but the Weiss on Mix or Master Bus..its no Match...at least not to me.....
This a Good Bus Comp but its not neccearly a Master Comp
Like the
MKII
PA Shadow Hills
Nebula C660 or UAD API 2500
All four of those are a better Idea on Mix or Masterbus...bus
What headphones are you wearing?
Track Comp 2
E Channel Comp
And Analog Obsession’s
Buster
Sound Identical
Please do Neve MBP vs this!
15:30 wow which music?
It’s my latest single, Crime Reborn :)
fireeeeeeee
Hay Dom, thanks for sharing how’s the latency and CPU load ?
Hey Andy! Seems quite light here on my i9 PC :)
Sweet
What is a difference between this Bus processor and all other before it? Beside your affiliate link ? :p
Please look at volume change when you A/B............
Hi Dom!
Off topic question: Is there a way to see the actual chords at the Cubase midi editor when using the NI Komplete Kontrol chord feature?
I would like to see the chords and not just the keys that I press when recording it in Cubase.
Same with the arpeggio feature
No but you can use the chord pads for this!
@@DomSigalas I know but It would be good to see the chords when recording them using the Komplete Kontrol chord feature.
I don't understand why it's not possible😔
Thank you for the info
@@AKkov because Komplete Kontrol should send those midi notes to Cubase which it clearly doesn’t. It’s a Komplete Kontrol thing, not a Cubase thing :)
Thank you for the infos
You rock! BOOM! :)
@@AKkov I don’t think they don’t want to. I think they intend this feature for beatmakers.y workaround is the chord pads. Way more flexible and integrated into Cubase and you can do way more than the KK :)
