Ok, several people started comparing this with Dan's video - a video that I was totally unaware of (so thanks for sharing this- I love Dan's videos!). However, I would suggest you watch the video before jumping into conclusions. Even from the first minute you will realize this has NOTHING to do with Dan's video. It's about me sharing my experience of working in the music business for over 20 years- and how I navigated the loudness wars when you *DID* need to make things insanely loud. This was *before* RUclips and *before* even LUFS were a thing. We were talking RMS levels back then. And you needed to be loud if you wanted to make a living as a mastering/mixing engineer and producer. So please, before commenting without watching the video at all, watch first and you will realize this is not a relevant video to Dan's. But the title is still relevant. Lots of love, Dom

The original AOM Invisible limiter was a close kept secret for a long time, I remember also seeing it in an Armin Van Buren session in one of this production courses a couple of years back...
Very well kept secret. Everybody back then was suggesting Elephant and some other limiters. I honestly believe that people were trying to mislead people because the loudness wars were so aggressive. Also, Invisible required a bit of research in order to get the most out of it so some people would not get past the ugly GUI :)
I second that.this Limiter is very very good .most modern limiters distort everything where A.O.m INVISIBLE Limiter still sounds transparent and clear !Must have for any Metal maniac !
the changing colors tshirt got me tripping haha The Loudest master I ever heard is coming from Donny & Katharsys - Panic EP. it has some insane values, it hits at some point the -0.9LUFS mark :o The whole process is not only the last limiting stage but the entire process that make the production super loud. But damn, so impressive technically.
As someone else wrote, I'm sad to report that Dan Worral still holds the crown. Still, I'm excited for the video, as I'm sure I can learn something here (this comment was written before the video premiered)
The video is not about LUFS at all ;) I share my real-world experience when LUFS were not even a thing and people wanted masters as loud as possible. In my opinion going for extreme loudness this days is a moot point. Just wait for the video to be out ;)
@@DomSigalas Invisible Limiter is amazing, it retained quite a lot of dynamics and still squashes everything nicely with a healthy crunch. Since I'm on the younger side, this insight into how things were back then was really interesting. I'm glad to have you as my Cubase teacher these days :)
I'm still a fan of the Brainworx bx_XL V2 Limiter. It's so old and so basic, but really easy to get great sounding results. It's nice that you can control the M/S image at the same time. Great video!
Excellent info and demo, thanks. The Invisible Limiter sounds very clean despite the clip mode and super high input levels. I don't have it yet, as I've never heard of it. For now, what I'm doing is clipping followed by a brick wall limiter, with the LVC Clipped-MAX into the Venomode Maximal 3. I like to ride the fence on having some dynamics and somewhat loud. Nice color changing shirt too.
Thanks, Dom! These plugins are fantastic tools. Creating a melody, crafting lyrics, and producing great music with 100% amazing instrument support is the most challenging part for song and music producers. If a track gets over 50 million clicks, then you're in the game. 😊 Currently about 150.000 new music tracks are released on YT alone per month.. A lot stuff needs to be mixed and mastered. 👍
It’s really funny, I’ve used this plug-in many times and long before I had any idea what i was doing. I was able to get some really quiet recordings/ samples up to some usable levels that I couldn’t get on any other plugin. It’s cool to see that I wasn’t crazy in tinkering around with this thing:)
You are telling my story as well. Just because of the history I share with A.O.M. Invisible Limiter G2, it will stay my favorite limiter forever! Thank you for sharing.
The mastering chain in the "loudness wars" days 😀, the crazy ways to obtain updated information 10-15 years ago, so so true in hurts :) As a sound designer for 2 decades, this video really made me smile and remember the victorious feeling and satisfaction once I found my ultimate output plugin/s that really "did the job" and enabled the desired RMS on a song or soundtrack without squashing the mix. I had a very similar experience with my growing clients community once I won the loudness wars, so maybe it is true to say that you should never compromise on your mastering and always aspire to improve your sound methods. 🎸 Cheers Dom!
Loudness is still so important especially in modern metal. If you want aggressive, you need to go loud almost always. Invisible Limiter is a great plugin, I'm glad we have a lot of great options today as well, I even used it on a master this week!
@@DomSigalas yes! There's people pushing -4 LUFS today in metal. Maybe a bit too loud still but yes every genre sounds best at different loudness levels, that's part of why I always hated the "-14LUFS is the standard" talk
