How to type the # (hash) sign with a UK keyboard

In this short and sweet video, I'll show you how to locate the # (hash) key on your keyboard. I did a lot of research online and couldn't find a solution. The most common answer online is shift + 3 or alt + shift + 3. But my keyboard layout was a bit different. The key is just above the enter button denoted by a backward slash. I brought the virtual keyboard up and then found the approximate location and worked around it. Again, this is to help locate the key on a British keyboard make by an American company (Microsoft).

You can also change the layout of your keyboard to match if you have a different keyboard to the country you are in by going to 'Settings' 'Time & language' 'Language'
& under the "Preferred languages" section, select the default language now click the options button & under the "Keyboards" section, click the 'Add a keyboard' button then select which layout you want to use (if it's mixed up as above it's usually a US layout you need) - hope this helps!
Select the new keyboard layout you want to use.

@@timg5222 Yeah true, what I do to get round that is make sure numlock is on then hold down 'Alt' & 156 or 'Alt' and 0163 on the number keypad, this gives you the pound sign.

As the hash key is being used more and more thanks to social media, you would have thought that it would be a lot more prominent on the keyboard. I found it after a lot of searching underneath the "backspace" key!! The number "3" key has a "£" sign on it...
