    the problem is the kenyans aren't really fighting the gangs. They were provided with arms and armor vehicles from the US and all they do is drive around inside the vehicles instead of clearing the building and fighting the gangs off. A useless force, Only a professional army can fix this.

      It would still fail because people will keep joining gangs, the best thing they can do while doing a military operation is limit civilian casualties as low as possible or people will see the Kenyan as enemy if they commit war crimes. That just means more people will join gangs or other military groups that is not aligned with the Haitian government or Kenya

    They would need roughly 20,000 officers at minimum, probably even double that for operation country wide. Given the limited personnel and equipment, it’s understandable that the Kenyan Police can only do so much. Its probably makes sense for them to patrol and maintain peace in key areas but shouldn’t put themselves at undue risk and for what? The situation in Haiti is complex and unlikely to be resolved in our lifetime. It would require a decades-long-term imposition of martial law with checkpoints to restore confidence. Since this isn’t within the Kenyan Defense Forces’ mandate, it’s fortunate Kenya didn’t deploy its military, especially considering the low funding. The USA would need to provide air support and military drones to ensure the Keyan militarized Police can be more effective.

    • @MounHahhh
      @MounHahhh 3 месяца назад +4

      Haiti indeed needs international support, but not the kind that involves foreign forces imposing their will on us. What we require is meaningful aid that empowers Haitians to rebuild the country from within, not temporary fixes through external military interventions. True support should focus on strengthening our institutions, investing in long-term solutions, and respecting our sovereignty.

    The biggest issues here are if the Haitian politicians can’t unite to help the Haitian people, how is the Kenyan intervention help because already if the Haiti police force can’t coordinate with the Kenyan police then it’s useless because -
    (1) The Haitian police are supposed to be the eyes, ears and teachers they know the gangs modus operandi better.
    (2)The the foreign actors sponsoring this mission need to amply support the Kenyans especially with air support because they will be situations where medical -evacuation/ Casavac is needed, including a camp hospital, how they accepted the mission without adequate logistical support is baffling?
    (4) Last the Haitian people need a stabilizing local force of either volunteer police units because the Kenyans or foreign police will not be in Haiti forever, this is a Haitian problem which Haitians need to solve regardless of the history of America or foreign actors meddling in Haitian sovereignty. God bless Haiti and its resilient people.

Multiple United States cities had such murder numbers that compare with Port au Prince during the crack era. This US city was located in the same place as the UN Headquarters, New York City. I did not see a generation of poor Americans vacate their country while their children slept in bathtubs at night due to street shoot outs. We fixed our own problem. that’s where it starts. Not having a population leave the area, with its most able citizens who can relocate and find new lives while abandoning their countrymen. Maybe they need to channel the spirit of Toussaint Louverture who beat a superpower and delivered freedom to the Haitian populace.
