In this particular fight using smite wouldn't have mattered. Basic melee attacks do radiant damage, which procs Radiating Orbs. The only way Orin was able to hit me was with a Nat 20. But in general on boss fights you do want to just nova the boss down with all your slots.

Stunning build. I'm currently playing a bard/rouge for my first honor run. But my next one is absolutely gonna be a pure Paladin. I'll be keeping this Radiating Orb build in mind.
I'd suggest trying pure Oath of Ancients. It requires a good aligned character, but at lvl7 you get resistance to spell damage, and you become ridiculously tanky.
Nice, I usually go 2 paladin and 10 swords bard so you get 6th level spell slots. One thing you can do in the durge duel is go greater invis and lockpick orins victim who then becomes an ally in the fight without breaking the rules and they can fight on your side. Last time I did the durge duel on honour mode I cast hunger of hadar which accidently hit one of her minions which drew everyone in to the fight and she got the 12 levels of unstoppable. Thankfully I had gale as evocation wiz with magic missile etc. so it was doable.
That's interesting. I never tried what would happen if you don't honor the duel. I'm glad you managed to make it work. Multiclassing into a caster does give you more smite slots, and is probably better than pure paladin. I personally like to use pure classes. Mostly just because I like to see how they handle Honour Mode.
Nice! I'm currently doing my first honor mode run with my char being a berserker barbarian. Just pretty much wrapped up act 2. Looks like your paladin is basically untouchable with that build.
Nice! Barbarian is a lot of fun. Yeah I was trying to no-damage Orin, but she unfortunately has an ability that just does damage even if you save it. Her normal melee attacks needed a Nat 20 to hit me though.
@@Kouenwin That's why i said it's more potent on wizard c: I've actually recently did the same to Orin on honor, stacking 10 RO with 1 cast. AC is only slightly lower (23), but the saving throws are obviously much better on pally, that's not even a question c:

Greater Invisblitly+Steath Advantage+ character based stealth+ pass with out trace as a shadow monk (or open hand monk with pass with out trace ring, add strange conduit ring for damage). +23 to stealth checks Bruh you will kick orin's ass. Unfair though you cant not stop the invisible fisting. Also Gloom stalker Assine with craterfish gloves and with strange contit ring +hunters mark and acid ring with ballest amour.

Ha, that character is a half-drow elf. Though Wulbren being a menace is certainly a build idea.

The Sacred Star ( bg3.wiki/wiki/The_Sacred_Star ). It has a +1d4 Radiant damage on it, so it works nicely with Radiating Orb gear.

Radiating Orb is so much more potent on zoltraak Wizard build.
Radiating Orb stacks up to 10, and on a paladin you can do that each turn, while having ridiculous AC and saving throws.

If you play Dark Urge you can duel Orin. Just you vs her.

who actually casts divine smite? you are better off casting one of the other smites as divine smite will trigger
What do you mean divine smite will trigger? I'm using the normal smite because it doesn't use your Bonus Action.

It's not a competition. Radiating Orb is just a fun build to use. Abusing stealth is also very exploit-y, which I don't like to do myself.
